That sounds like it might be easy enough to solve. First, since you're using your microphone port, you have to disable the +20dB boost that is applied by default. Find your microphone under your recording devices from the Windows Mixer, right click on it and choose properties. One of the tabs will have the option for the boost, just uncheck it. Second, change the recording volume level until the sound you get isn't incredibly loud. It will take a few tries to get it right.
Under all that mess, I can still hear the audio going out-of-pitch, but it doesn't seem to be as often. Sounds like something is interfering with the signal maybe?
Weird, that sounds like putting a mic right next to a speaker. Do you have your mic set to be listened through your speakers? Check the same area as before, but this time check the Listen tab and make sure it's disabled.
I don't see a Listen tab, and I don't see anywhere I can disable something without losing sound. Yeah it does sound like that though. When I open amarec, the audio starts to come in at really low quality for a good 3-5 seconds, then it starts freaking out.
Update 10/16/13: Found out the mic is not set through my speakers. I was confused before, so just clearing that up.
Also after recording the past several days, I think I figured out that amarec lags because of my laptop trying to update, but I'm not 100% sure. Wasn't updating yesterday and two godly runs of mine got ruined due to amarec lagging for ~2000 frames. Very unfortunate because those were the only two times amarec lagged lately. I've recorded segments that go over the time needed to record my run with no lag.
I also tried hooking my rca cable from my tv to the dazzle (instead of using audio directly from the s-video cable), resulting in the same issue as usual. Figured it wouldn't do anything, seeing that it still connects to the dazzle, but thought I'd try anyway.
And my audio is really low again, even with amarec volume set to 8. Maybe that's from ^? Will switch it back to normal and update I guess. (Update: Fixed)
Last but not least, a final video of my audio problem if my past posts did not clearly specify what's going on. /watch?v=3ehX5OixyD0
Hi. Bumping this again since it has been some time and have new updates. I know it's not good to bump in general, but seeing as this is tech support and I'm able to update documentation on newish things, I figured it was ok. So here's whats going on:
Fixes: - (Raw Amarec video) Lag. I use my external hard drive now and only get the normal 7-10fps lag at the start. I can confirm no lag for sure since I recorded a 5+ hour video with no lag whatsoever (I fell asleep in the middle of an attempt heh). Should've been less stubborn about this before. - (Raw Amarec video) Crashes. If I record 3-5 30+ minute videos (or longer depending on the run), exit out of Amarec, restart Amarec and repeat, it will never crash. - I've seen other people complain about this with no fix (that I've seen), so they could do this as long as they're encoding and trimming the video afterward. I assume it is more formal to record attempt-by-attempt but hey, a fix is a fix. - HMVMultiWriter doesn't crash anymore when I disable explorer while streaming. Maybe gamebooster caused that.
New/Ongoing Problems: twitch.tv/joedamillio/b/474680047 - (Streaming) My audio is still going pitch-crazy. Mostly staying at a higher pitch but it moves around. I've played N64 as well and the amarec preview window still changes pitch but barely as much compared to SNES (not streaming). Raw amarec videos are still great. I've learned to encode with Yua and the final videos look nice. Guess I should post a test video sometime. - (Streaming) Audio is delayed by... a lot. - Still can't get the mic line-in to work properly. Feel like this might solve above problems?
Earlier you said OBS won't work with your Intel HD but it seems there was a recent update or something to make it work. Can you try again?
If that still fails I'd try other stuff like disabling Aero or maybe even buy another brand of that mic in cable since it's cheap to rule out a cable issue.
(I actually forgot to mention another "fix." I can get sound from xsplit when I mute amarec now. Literally did nothing to fix it, just randomly decided to work.)
I will give it a try. Someone helped me before so it may take a while to come back with results.
Aero is automatically disabled when I open amarec/xsplit. Will try another cable if all fails.
Welp, I cannot believe I've wasted your guys' time with this. Opened my laptop this morning and it broke. I'm on a inspironE1505 right now lol. So basically now I'm switching to a desktop. Problem is I have no knowledge of specifics. I have a monitor and keyboard already so I just need the actual system. If anyone has suggestions, feel free to post because I'm sure I'll choose a bad desktop on my own.
Sorry again for all of this, but hey, a fresh start is what I believe is needed to have a chance at this working. Again, suggestions are appreciated.
(Can't find where to edit post unregistered atm) I forgot to mention I'd like the system to have a firewire port as well, as I skateboard and would like to upload vx1000 footage on my desktop as well.
Well that depends on whether you want to build your own system or buy something already made. Pretty much anything you buy *should* have everything you need along with enough power for recording/streaming (although I can't guarantee firewire). The downside is you'll have to deal with bloatware pre-installed on the system and future expansion options are going to be limited. Building your own system is more flexible and *can* be cheaper if you know where to shop, but the flipside is you have to build it and be your own tech support.
I think I'd rather buy a system already made. I don't know where to shop and I don't know how I'd be being my own tech support heh :p. Would love to build a system if I had knowledge but yeah, might not be a good idea to do that if I don't know much.
Ok, got my account signed in so I can just update my post instead of bumping. Going to put items of my interest below. I guess let me know what you guys think of any. I'll update this post frequently with links I find. Using ebay unless I find a better site lol
Edit: If there's somewhere you can build a PC and you'd rather recommend things that way, that's cool. I'd like to learn about some of the stuff at least too.
I don't think I would trust Ebay with something like this. That first link wrote "AMD 3.6GB" when it's meant to be "AMD 3.6 Ghz". He made that mistake on the actual picture. That tells me they don't care at all. If they can't get a picture right, the system is probably going to contain cereal boxes for components.
Your best bet IMO if not to self build is to buy it from a store. Sure you pay more but at least it will work. Just make sure it has a Nvidia or ATI GPU so you can use OBS.
Apparently you can build your tower on the Dell website (Edit: misunderstood this. you can search for towers based on what you want). If that doesn't work out, then as you said, I'll go to a store and see what I can do there.
That thing has way more juice than what you're used to (which is a good thing) so it should be an excellent upgrade. The only downside to the system (this is going by the newegg link mind you) is that it doesn't have firewire on the board, so you'd have to get some add-in card for it.
Yeah I noticed that too. But if you're saying there's still a way I can do it, that's cool too. Regardless, I think I'm going to go with that. I saw a few negative comments about things not working right so hopefully I'm not unlucky with that. I also noticed it doesn't have usb 3.0. I don't know if that'll be a problem seeing as my laptop had 2.0. Also I'm hoping this HP external hard drive works when I plug it in. I had to format it on my hp, which if I had data on the external beforehand, I would've had to delete everything from it for it to format. If that works I could swap the hard drive with my laptop hard drive, and put the rest on the external, and swap back to normal so I have everything. Though I have no idea if any of this will work. It also looks like a good idea to get more fans since there's a lot of space in there for it. I won't do it right away until I get the tower first, but that and a better power supply seem to be the most recommended things to do. Those, and a better graphics card, but I don't think I'll need a better one. If I do I'll just go with the one I linked above, unless someone has a better one that isn't super expensive.
Thanks for your input
Update 11/10/13: I ordered the FX6164 friday morning. It came in saturday morning, which is awesome considering thats two days early. Had to workout a spot in my room, which took until a few hours ago to finish. I got everything hooked up and working (the machine + gateway screen [I don't care for fancy screens really. C'mon, I just put a hole in my pocket though this was a great deal lol] + mouse and keyboard. No speakers yet). I'm even wired directly to my computer now :). It's pretty funny my laptop signal is incredibly strong with my router four feet away, compared to it dropping often when it was upstairs. I won't try to stream or anything else until I go somewhere and get my hard drive copied to my external. Doesn't work on my laptop, and I really don't want to open the tower and change it after I just got it working. I'll make what's hopefully my last bump when I try everything out. Wanted to update saying my desktop is working great.
Also if anyone has a suggestion for a good webcam, not really expensive that I can get at somepoint, I'm open for any recommendations. And a mic lol. Don't want a headset, and I heard Blue Yeti is overrated, but it sounds fine in my opinion.
Also my picture/video quality on my monitor is completely botched. Too bright and sharp. Maybe some settings will fix it. Might be my monitor. Changing resolution makes the quality the same, icons just become puny lol
Edit: (XSplit))Hmm. Still getting the high pitches sometimes. Also it's delayed by a small bit. Amarec recording are still a-ok. I don't know if it's my laptop but the video seems choppy and slow. No frame drops or anything when I was streaming. Twitch didn't save my last broadcast for some reason but here's this one. Has gameplay and all: http://www.twitch.tv/joedamillio/b/479459864
I'll try the audio line-in method since I haven't done that yet with this new desktop.
Edit2: Seems like the dazzle audio drivers are to blame for the weird pitching. Works good with line-in. Though the audio is still delayed a small bit. http://www.twitch.tv/joedamillio/b/479676896
Also I'm still not ok with the video until someone else can confirm it's playing fine. It's not smooth at all for me.
I don't have much experience with that game but it looked smooth to me. No idea about the audio delay. I guess to try and narrow down that problem you could select the Dazzle video itself inside XSplit/OBS and just run with the interlaced stream and see if you can detect any audio synch issues. If it looks in synch then you can tinker around with Amarec's live tab.
I'll check this after work, but compare the twitch recordings with the raw Amarec recordings and see if they're both delayed by the same amount. If the Amarec recordings are fine then it's a problem with XSplit/OBS.
TheThrillness: Well, OBS is out of the question at the moment due to the video slowdown, so I'm using XSplit. Choosing the dazzle itself displays nothing so I don't have anywhere to start there.
honorableJay: I'm currently getting the error "ICOpen" when trying to record. Going to redownload and see if that fixes it.
Edit: Didn't work Edit2: Fixed. Link wasn't reliable. New error. "acmStreamOpen" Edit3: Works if I leave audio uncompressed in Amarec instead of MP3. Testing... Edit4: Amarec raw recording is synced properly. Stream is still off by a small bit. Edit5: Uncompressed audio might have fixed audio sync? I don't know if I'm being too paranoid by now so I guess someone else can check this: http://www.twitch.tv/joedamillio/c/3243311
