Hey guys. I was perusing some of the live streams, and noticed they were all on ustream. For several years now I've been using justin.tv for watching live video game streams.

No, I'm not some douche advertiser for JTV, but justin.tv has an overall much better interface, way more traffic, and I actually moderate a few streams there.

The gaming section of JTV is full of great streams, but there are almost zero speedrunning related streams. Occasionally there are people streaming runs from SDA itself.

JTV has a pretty good system, and I would say any runner would gain a shitload of viewers streaming there, because the community is so huge, and there's nothing like it.

Moreover, I spend a lot of time there, and I would be legitimately excited to see any of our runners here broadcasting.

Just a thought, check out the website and see for yourself if you'd like to. I think you'll see the benefits early on.

Actually, its funny, I was in #tasvideos a couple of days ago and they mentioned a Japanese streaming service which could stream at 60fps Shocked

The downside, I guess, is that it's in Japanese. I've been looking through my logs for it but can't find it :/

Stickam can do 60fps, but most Americans don't have the bandwidth to handle that. =/

These are pretty good points for the most part. The marathon would still have to use Ustream for the same reason the biggest fighting game streams (Team Spooky, Level|Up, Iplaywinner) do - JTV kicks out international watchers once a stream gets over 1000 viewers. That shouldn't be a problem for the rest of our stuff, though, so it's worth considering.

I don't know how many people here are interested in getting shitloads of viewers. As of now, chat quality degrades at 30 viewers already.

I used to use J.TV but I moved to Ustream as some of you may know. One of the reason is because J.TV is packed with Trolls. Almost everytime I streamed there, I would get a few of them and other streams I watched get some as well. So far I have see absolutely NONE on Ustream as long as I have been viewing other streams and streaming myself. Another reason is because, well... Theres no speedrunners on J.TV and it sucks =\

Anyways, Ustream seems to be getting better and better. Eventually it might get as good as J.TV. Only thing significantly worse with Ustream is ads but there is always adblock.

And for the record, I tested 60fps streams on both Ustream and J.TV. It worked fine but my internet connection sucks so I can't really keep streaming like that.

Oh and here's something else worth mentioning. Someone decided to make a mod, called BetterJTV. That name holds true, it gets rid of ads and improves the UI.

If you watch JTV at all, it's well worth it.

Yeah, what Raijin said is basically what I was worrying about. Even at 30-40 viewers on Ustream, I get a couple extremely annoying people. It seemed like Justin would be worse in that regard...
