Age of Empires 2 AoK Campaign Speed Run, on fast speed and hard difficulty (except tutorial campaign, which is fixed on normal speed).
All times listed below are game time.  To obtain real time, divide by 2.
I had most of the run completed a few years ago but then lost my hard drive that had all the raw footage on it.  The missions have all had to be redone, and I'm about halfway there.  Along the way some vast improvements have been made.
The Conquerors will eventually be done also, but not until Age of Kings is submitted to SDA.

I think you should finish your Populous: The Beginning run first. I was looking forward to that one. Smiley
this looks unnaturaly fast. did you speed up the game? why is everything moving so fast?
he probably set the game speed to 'fast'?
I didnt know you can do this^^"
oh finally someone running it Smiley

how did you capture the vid? fraps lags like hell and any other programs capture with crappy colors :/

I'am using fraps 2.72
And game has Fast speed
would add on packs be included in the run?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
This would be an excellent game to run.
umm heres a topic related to this

http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=pcgames;action=display;num=1132953644;start=
I thought you can't set game speed in tutorial campaign Huh?

hmm my fraps is also 2.72. what video card and driver are you using? I'm asking because you tend to run old games so you may have some old card thus having no problem with 8bit capturing.
i managed to find a way to record 256 color games using fraps without getting any lags.

1. start up fraps.
2. start up the game and record just for a few seconds (you must do this or you'll get a corrupt video later), then go back to the desktop.
3. right clik the desktop, choose properties. under the setting tab, click the Advanced button. in that window, select Troubleshoot tab, then slide the bar to the fourth from the right (where it says it disables DirectDraw and Direct3D).
4. finally, start up the game and record your run. fraps now should be able to record the game without any lags.
5. don't forget to set back the hardware acceleration after you finished recording the runs.

it seems like you can't record main menu and briefing etcs using the above method though.

here are my filefront directory and youtube playlist for some early scenario runs i recorded.
i don't think i can handle those later big scenarios though. this game is so micro-heavy in both combat and resource gathering. so i hope these videos interest someone who are capable of RTS Smiley
cool,
I will watch this for sure.
Thanks and gj for finding a good way to record this game

Hell yes we want to run this game. Downloading link you provided... Dunno what it is but what Ive heard (above posts) it's tutorial?

Well, good luck running this, might take very long on some missions, but we'll be supporting our wisdom if you need any Cheesy
Stalker!
Do you gave your run up?

Now now, calm down, it seems like he let go off attempting this run, no updates in YouTube account for this run.

He stopped, or he took hell of a break from this. Live with it.
I'd continue if I had enough RTS skill Tongue I too want to see runs of this game.

I would perhaps give a few runs of this - I have a very fast run of the first Joan of Arc mission and I've had some good times in some of the other missions before (example pic, from 5th Hun mission on hard.  I can probably do a wee bit faster, though)

I'd have to go back through a few times, so it might take me a while to get everything fast.

Although, I'm not sure how to set the game speed when playing one of the missions, just in multiplayer games  :-X.  Does anyone know how to do this?
It's in Menu -> Options.
When calculating time, real time = (displayed time)*3/4 if it's set to "Normal", and 1/2 if it's set to "Fast".

It's nice you are attempting to run this game Smiley You might be aware of this but I think some 'build and rush' type maps can be done quick by gathering enough resources by full population peasants first, then build a bunch of barracks and delete peasants to free population.
Sweet, thanks.

I have a general idea of what to do to speed up my runs in most of the missions, but I'm still having trouble with speeding up a few other ones, such as the last Saladin mission where you have to build a wonder and defend it.

If anyone has any suggestions as to little tricks on those last missions where it has things that have a set period of time on them, I'd love to hear some of them.
Stalker!
no i dont something like a shortcut there  Tongue
but do it
Here's my first attempt at speeding through one.

It's 6:40 seconds for last mission in the Barbarossa campaign; I had to figure out a good way to get rid of the Persian's walls which was really the only tough part.

It's probable that a few seconds could be taken off all over, what with me not remembering most of the hotkeys and pausing to think a few times unnecessarily, but overall it was pretty good.

Sorry it's taking so long to work on this, but other things always tend to get in the way.  I'll keep putting them on youtube for now, you can always check my playlist to see when I add one.

Anyway, Agincourt (from the conqueror's campaign), in 1:47.  Pretty good, except for the stupid thing where I accidentally clicked on the timeline (fortunately, it stopped recording automatically when it went in there, and started up again once I left it.  It just cuts out a bit of the audio, but that's fine :P)  Clicky Clickly
