FWIW, I can bring a bunch of appliances to cook food with that I will be wiling to leave in a general sort of eating area at Crowne Plaza. I have a slow cooker, crepe maker that doubles as a grill, a George foreman, etc.

Also I will be bringing shredded chicken and pulled pork in large amount either way. If anyone else has large food request, let me know.

If the pot is big enough I could make some southern staples like red beans or gumbo. Although I do hesitate to offer red beans because it will bring great flatulence.

That's why you use the PM system we have here to setup a coordinated attack.

This is not going to be a problem, trust me. Last AGDQ... we had the A/C on. Yes, you read that right, with it being 40F outside, we had the A/C on. It was that warm in the marathon room.

We also had fans on and it was still burning hot. And yes, more fans are part of the budget.

You do realize that more fans just circulate the air/move it around (Admittedly, it's probably good to have them just for that reason), and don't actually cool anything down unless you were to, I dunno, have the back of the fans pointed at a room exit, right?
Crawlathon WR, get down on my level.
That's more or less why we had the fans, really (to stave off the ever growing man-smell).
I've a question regarding the hotel.  Does the Crowne have an exercise room?

(Ha-HA, bet you weren't expecting that one)

Excellent.

People used the exercise room at SGDQ, exercising isn't exactly uncommon among runners.

Caleb Hart will arm wrestle anyone into submission!
Yeah, it was a dumb joke, I apologize. Tongue  I was more thinking it would be the last thing on most people's minds during a week-long vacation/charity event.

Also I'm pretty sure Caleb would break my arms like pretzel sticks.
Not sure if this is the right place the ask this, but:  is PCF going to support us by providing any more discounts or food this time?  At this point, they should practically be paying for the entirety of hotel expenses.  We've grown too huge for them not to help pull a little more weight for us.
At the very least, we should reach out to the local places to eat and ask about any discounts. Never know who might support the charity or just be willing to give groups of 10 a cheaper rate since we'll be eating at these places for a solid week.

duckfist: They promised to provide a meal each day of the marathon for us, whether they have to pay for it, or if it's sponsored.

elendil004: That's not a bad idea. I do know that the hotel restaurant, Houlihan's, is giving us a 10% discount.

Hotel discounts would be nice if hotels weren't horribly expensive most of the time. Hope the burgers aren't $15 like some places around here

It's a little pricey, but not backbreaking.  Welcome to DC!

You asked for avatars...
Don't worry, Houlihans is expensive everywhere you go.  If they give us 10% off though it'll be a bit nicer.  For what it's worth though, the food is pretty dang good.

I would be much down for cooking tons of super yummy food for all of y'all (and hopefully not have it confiscated this time).

Well, thanks for making me hungry Withhelde. Hope you cook in bulk. XD

You mean the stuff you and funkdoc brought to SGDQ was confiscated? Damn that sucks.

Was good stuff though I'm always up for more :).

Just FYI, if anyone is wondering why there isn't really a registration thread, it's because Cool Matty is working on moving it to a website. The registration site should be up by the end of the month.

Yeah, I'm working hardcore on a new registration system that will allow several things:

1. It'll allow you to change your registration information yourself.
2. It'll remember everything for future marathons (if you want it to).
3. It will alert you to the status of your registration and other critically important information.

Also, if we end up going this route (probably unlikely at this point), it will allow us to check you in with your badge via a QR code. And if I get so horrendously bored as to have nothing to do sometime before January, I could make it let you scan other people's badges to earn GDQ Points or something dumb and silly. Tongue

Even better would be to turn it into one of those barcode scanner games from the 90s where you scan someones QR code and get a monster to fight with. I bet Mike's would be literally invincible.
