MARIO? ORIAM!
Quote from Cool Matty:
You can book the hotel right now. I have no idea how much that $500 will get you, it depends on how you feel like splitting up the room. If you just mean food and whatever, then yes absolutely.

Basically, sharing rooms is entirely upon you to figure out. We'll be making a thread shortly to help people find rooms with each other, but otherwise we don't have any say in it. You (or one of the others you're sharing with) books the room, marks the number of people in the room, and then you will split the payment of that room at the hotel at the desk.

Edit: Also talked to Mike, he said we're still too early in the process to figure out PCF food and other logistics. Note that you do NOT have to book your room /right now/, we just got the hotel link the other day. There is no rush, we don't even have the official marathon registration ready yet.

So how much would you say is a really good amount of money to bring?

Well, I was planning on coming early. Seems their system isn't robust enough to calculate for early arrivals. Looks like I'll need to make two reservations. The 4th works to get the discount.

Is there any reason? No one is going to be there on the third. Everyone arrives on the fourth, and that's when we begin setup. You won't miss anything by arriving on the fourth.

Because I'm planning to visit some of the local sights with my family. I'm not coming for just the marathon.

Does anyone who lives in the area know if it is viable to get there by train/bus? I'm coming from just outside Philadelphia.

A lot of these sorts of questions were answered only a couple pages ago in this thread. I recommend skimming through the thread.
Who said girls can't speedrun!
Hey there Mikuyma! I was just wondering when and where a person could start to sign up for volunteering for the event. I'll be down there anyways and I would love to help out as much as I can Cheesy

No need to really sign up. There will be plenty of things you can do to help out prior to the start of the marathon and they will be made known. For instance there is an equipment thread that comes up that lists all the games, consoles, TVs, accessories, and other stuff that we need. If you have something and you want to offer it you're more than welcome to. Also while we're getting shuttles from Dulles so there won't be as big of a need for drivers picking up people from airports, there will probably be people coming on bus or train that could use a ride from the station to the hotel, so you could always do that. Finally once the marathon actually happens, there will be things you can help out with like donation processing, just ask someone at that time (or there may be a sign up sheet for it before hand who knows). The main thing is just stick around the forums and you'll see something eventually.
Exoray
Signup thread will be posted soon. Within a couple of weeks is my best guess.

Volunteering: thedarkman78 summed it up well, there will be threads for volunteer sign-up.

And yes, the signup thread will be posted within a couple of weeks. We might actually be moving it to a website.
There's something that has been bothering me for a little bit.  It might be nothing in the long run, but I feel the need to confirm something.  Anyway, it's about the perceived price rates for the hotel stay.  Okay, it was stated at the very beginning that it was to be around $88-89 dollars per night, right?  However, I've checked the room rates for the Crowne recently, and the rates were priced at no lower than ~$131 per night with the cheapest given stay package and with advanced booking around the week of AGDQ.  I guess my question is if the ~$88 dollars is for something akin to a group package, or is there some bit of information I'm failing to understand?  My plans to attend this upcoming AGDQ is somewhat depending on this clarification (aside from other issues unrelated to this).
Waiting hurts my soul...
It's the correct price only if you select dates starting from the 4th. See my posts on the previous page. If you're planning on arriving early, I suggest booking two reservations as it's cheaper than the group rate (or was when I registered).

You have to use a group code in order to get the rates as well. Mikwuyma's link on the previous page automatically enters the group code for you.
Glad my fanboy lvls aren't THIS high
Ah, so it was as I thought, and I did clearly miss something.  Oh well, off to the previous page with me, then; thanks for the clarification.

Read at the link below. The link below has a lot of bus information

If the group code doesn't work starting from the 4th then something is wrong. If that is really the case, then I will contact the Crowne on Monday.

It works from the 4th on, it's what I used when I did my reservation. Zenic was trying to register starting on the 3rd or something.

Much appreciated...looks like it isn't too difficult.

Some of that information is inaccurate by the way. My recommended method is to actually use Google Maps, which supports public transit.

So, will there be a thread for room sharing/bunking in the hotel for the event? I feel that it would be alot more favorable if people are trying to book rooms right now if there was a place for dedicated room avaliability/ who needs a room/mate talk?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Yes, said topic will be made once I figure out a couple of registration details. Expect it either this week or next week.
Learner/Assister
Alright thanks, i look forward to this event, and also someone has probably mentioned it but what about volunteer assistance, like during setup helping with that or technical stuff, will that be just open help when/where you can or will there be specific/assigned people to do tasks? I feel i should be helping out in some way other than just attending if i go since I am not running.
Keep an eye out for topics before the event. There will always be stuff to do, stuff to bring, stuff to plan, etc. There you can contribute, if you will.
Otherwise, I'm sure there is lots of stuff at the event, too, where you can probably ask around.
Just a few things to get you started. If you want to do something a little more technical (like handling the tracker and stuff), then you might have to get in contact with those who handle that stuff. But I'm sure, seeing as you post this publically, it shouldn't be a problem IF you decide to do that. But like mentioned, look for the topics. They can provide you with opportunities to help.

Since it is in January, are people okay with keeping the room semi-warm?

A lot of these hotel rooms tend to be cold, but since we have the thermostat, I don't think it would hurt...

I get iffy in the cold, I don't know why, but it really makes me have a bad experience, sometimes.

I'm sure the consoles will warm up the room a bit, but I just want to see if we can have the heat on, LOL.
SEGA Junkie
Trust me, with the amount of people and computers in one room, heaters are the last thing you will need.

This is not going to be a problem, trust me. Last AGDQ... we had the A/C on. Yes, you read that right, with it being 40F outside, we had the A/C on. It was that warm in the marathon room.

Signing up on the forums just for this? Cause this is about to be off the hooooooooooook~
