My feelings on The Demon Rush
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Alb3Dj0u13H7dG1BTS1mdGVHcXZudUE0SXk5dEk2LXc&hl=en#gid=0

I know there's a lot of people who still aren't 100% sure whether they're attending or not, but this should give some idea for people who want to watch certain games. I'm also aware that this schedule might conflict with some people's schedules and isn't 100% perfect, but I think it's really good as is right now.

And yes, I'm aware it's subject to change because it is likely games will be dropped (then new ones added).

Please notify me ASAP if the two following situations apply.

1. You can't play your game at the alotted time in the schedule.

2. The estimate for your game is way too low.

Things to consider when scheduling.

-A bunch of people (tiki, theenglishman/qubit, sinister1) have to leave before the marathon is over.

-Sinister1 can't come in until Thursday afternoon (that's why his first game isn't until 1:50 pm on Thursday)

Problems with the schedule:

Honestly, the only big one is that a bunch of PC games are getting the shaft. :-/

Also, you might notice the theme column has been changed to a couch commentator column. These are two or three people who are either knowledgeable in the game, or would provide entertaining commentary who get couch priority so people can hear them more easily. The runner does get some choice for who is a couch commentator. For longer games, shifts are possible for couch commentators if they don't want to commentate for more than an hour or two.

Okay big thing I need to mention about the schedule
Quote from mikwuyma:

Proceed.

Edit: Oh lookidat I'm on the last day again :0 Hopefully this time I'll get adequate sleep?
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Wow, I'm up REALLY soon I see. I'm just asking out of exercise of options here:

Is it possible to get put at a later night, or is that completely fucking the schedule to do that? What are the options? My commentators (Lee and Carl Sagan), we'd all like to run through the 100% SS and practice commentary beforehand and I'd like to polish as much as I can before I go on. Going so early is gonna make me shit myself! >_>;

I need the ice broken first. I need someone to, like, fart really obnoxiously before I go on...

I hear hammers are gr8 ice breakers jussayin

Also just another schedule thing. I think having that many bad games in a row might kill some people, or might affect them with a really chronic disorder. We might be preventing cancer but promoting some other terrible terrible illness Note: Not to be taken that seriously
Exoray
We'll be sure to have some disclaimers for the viewers.
As for ourselves, we'll have a strict policy regarding how long you will be allowed in the marathon room before it becomes a health concern. We'll be taking shifts and won't see too high doses each time which should leave us with only a few side effects.
Highly Evolved
I'm assuming it's NOT in MDT as indicated on the column header.

I mentioned this before but take out the 'glitch run' for Blaster Master, I'm not convinced it's possible real time, at least not to the degree I'd want to do it. 45 minutes for SNES PoP is way optimistic, because dying can cost a lot of time, and 39 minutes would be an absolute minimum. I'd say bump it up to an hour, if you can. Then again, since it's at the end it might not matter as much. Other than that, nothing bothers me about my placement.

I *might* want to bump up my estimate for Blaster Master if I decide to allow a 'no grenades on bosses' challenge, but I don't think it'd add more than a few minutes. (I'm still doing the frog bosses with the pause glitch, they're too long and boring otherwise.)
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Ani: I <3 you too.

Tri-Hex: I'd prefer to have YI on the first day. I can think of a couple of substitute options if I really have to change it, but it's hard to change the timeslot for something as long as YI 100% without screwing up the schedule.

Moooh: We'll use PJ and UltraJMan as examples for "The horrors of overexposure"

Darkwing Duck: Oops, I guess it's obvious I used the SGDQ schedule as a template.

UraniumAnchor: Changed
should we use this thread to volunteer to be couch commentator for games? or perhaps wait until later? don't want to clutter the thread with stuff that should happen later on.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
I don't mind if this thread is used to volunteer for couch commentator.
If said runners are okay with it, I'd like to couch for KSS and/or Pokémon.

Can't say Sunday at 12:40pm is a bad slot at all. Oh man though when you said the marathon ended on Monday I didn't think you meant midnight.
Professional Second Banana
I'll volunteer to commentate for the following games if the runners want me:

Blaster Master
Metal Gear Solid
Castlevania I, III, and/or IV
SOTN
Earthbound
I could commentate for Devil May Cry, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3&K.

A few things....

For WLK, I should be able to get a lower time than I did at SGDQ, since I'll only have two games to worry about practicing instead of six (WLK was literally my least practiced game for that marathon).

Second thing - Bubble Bobble can definitely support a bidding war for the type of run I do. I'm not sure if having no-warps vs. with-warps would be a good idea, but definitely bad ending vs. "good" ending should be an option, as fighting the true final boss only requires a dozen extra stages (making the run maybe 10 minutes longer). I'll get back to you on this when I actually start putting some serious practice into the game so I can give better time estimates. [Just FYI, the reason I say "good" in quotes is because the best ending actually requires two players]

Thing the third: if we're still looking to shorten up the total marathon time and/or introduce additional bidding wars between game choices, I've compiled a list of games that would be possible candidates for this. Here was the criteria I used for making my selections: the game must be run by someone with at least one other game in the marathon (so they aren't left run-less if their game loses), it must be a game with no other associated bidding, and it must not be a race, with a few other omissions for miscellaneous reasons. The games are arranged in order of run time to make it easier to pair games of similar lengths.

Metal Slug X vs. Metal Slug 3 - Same runner, same series
Mega Man 3 vs. X2 - Same runner, same series (and both are very popular titles in the series)
Halo Reach vs. Super Mario Galaxy - Two extremely high profile games, would be sure to generate a ton of donations.
Fucking Weeaboo
Problem with CV3 vs CV4 is that it screws up character choice.  And since we're gonna show off how broken the Japanese version is (and how awesome the music is in the Japanese version), I think we should NOT do that game war.
Haters gonna hate
The timeslot for SOTN is fine for me. Romscout will have to confirm as well though. If Richter doesn't win the bid war, I'll commentate for Alucard mode since I've learned a lot in a past few weeks.

Other games I can commentate for:

Castlevania 1-4
Duke Nukem 3D (Not sure how this would work since it's on PC, but I can stand in the background and commentate)
Battletoads (Against my will)
Metal Slug 3 (Maybe also X, but I haven't played that one that much)

Yeah, I thought that would be the case, but didn't see the character choice listed on the game list document. I'll remove that one from my suggestions.
Is PJ
The timeslots I am scheduled for are perfectly fine.  Estimates for my games are too high if anything, but I will know better as I practice more.

I will commentate on anything I am needed to commentate on.  I'll review the list later and mention any games that I really want to commentate on.
#Casual
I just realized an easy donation challenge choice is SMB3 100% small Mario only.  I've actually practiced that and it shouldn't be much different at all from w/ power ups...

Also, my time slot is fine.
I'm just trying to impress you.
Withhelde will want me flayed for this but I think you should change up the Kid Chameleon goal/donation setup. I understand adding more levels would be for the sake of donations, but it completely breaks the flow of the game to add levels into the route without a ton of practicing the exact route beforehand. Helmet synergy between levels is the core of speedrunning that game... it'd be like accepting donations to make Cosmo get the stones/medallions in a different order. Even something like "donate for max levels" is weird because "max levels" is so arbitrary. You can't go to every level in the game, and some levels can only be reached by playing other levels twice. Even the 'maximum levels' video published on TASVideos admittedly skips several levels that force replays of other levels, as the runner understood it would be redundant or less entertaining. I personally think 4boss is the best goal -- if you want something to donate to, I would suggest listing "100k trip route" and donating for 4boss.

As for scheduling I like that I'm scheduled for two games in a row. I don't have any extreme conflicts with scheduling. I know I can't expect awesome timeslots across the board but I do think Kid Chameleon and TJE are entertaining and popular enough to get out of graveyard (especially since TJE will be anticipated after ISM's accident during SGDQ). SS2 I do understand is comparatively niche even though I swear it'll be a really entertaining run Smiley

also I'll offer couch commentary for REmake
aka theenglishman
I'll probably be able to do couch commentary for Metal Gear Solid, seeing as with any luck I'll have finished my TAS of the game by then.  It doesn't hurt that it's right before Resident Evil 4 anyway.

I'd love to do couch commentary for Yoshi's Island as well, if you have space, and Trihex doesn't mind

EDIT: I say I want  to do this b/c I have moderate knowledge of the game from watching/chatting with Trihex/ Carl / Lee

Looks good so far. We'll see how Thursday works for me, I might not actually be arriving until the day the marathon starts, but I should be booking my tickets soon so I'll have a better idea next week.

Stuff I can commentate on:
Sonic 1 (do you want to race this, Naeglaria?)
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Colors
Super Meat Boy
Super Mario Galaxy (maybe 64 too?)
Super Monkey Ball
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Arrow: The only bidding war I agree with out of those is the Metal Slug bidding war. I'd rather play both games, but I have to admit that having X and 3 as a bidding war is a good idea. About WLK, that's good, I just based the estimate on the SGDQ video length.

Tri-Hex: Another thing I should note is that you do have the setup day to warm up. That is, if you're not too busy shooting your documentary. Tongue

PEACHES_: What I might be able to do is switch around God Hand and Viewtiful Joe's slot with Kid Chameleon and ToeJam and Earl.

I added a bunch of people as couch commentators. I didn't add everyone because I'm lazy.

Also, I might couch commentate for Lawnmower Man. Lips Sealed
