Hey... try completing levels in the fewest MOVES possible... every deployment/attack/capture/movement counts as 1 move (or something... y'know... Moving and Attacking at the same time is only 1 move)
I'm all for supporting this and its sequel (which I think would be more entertaining due to the additions) getting run'd. Fire Emblem -> Advance Wars -> Super Robot Wars ><v
I don't have much to offer in the way of strategies, but I would definitely be interested in seeing a speedrun for this. As long as you know the best strategy to complete each level and you can move the cursor around fast enough then you should be alright.
I don't think runs like this (Fire Emblem too) should be judged by the total amount of time it takes for the run, but by how many turns it takes. As long as the person doesn't spend an hour thinking before making a move.
I want to point out that if you do some of the missions too fast you will have to do another special mission.
From what I remember if you beat a certain vs Kanbei mission in 12 turns or fewer you start a chain of side missions that I believe leads to unlocking Sonja.
I guess what I mean to say is that on a few of the missions it may be wise to use a few more turns...
I am for having two categories for this game : the traditional time based run and a "number of days" run. Majora's Mask has a similar setup.
Going for the lowest day almost always means you're going for the lowest real-time to begin with. I can't think of any exceptions other than the kanbei/sonja extra missions, which could probably be filed under 100% (along with the Rivals! mission).
I know this is probably several years too late. But I am currently running Advance Wars Campaign and my latest run took 1 hour and 22 minutes for any% and glitchless. If people are still interested I will be trying to beat that time. There can also be loads of other possible categories like 100% war Room or Fewest Days Campaign or Fastest 999 pt S rank to name a few.
