I'm not good in bunnyjumping so won't take part in the contest, but I have played the runs on low host_framerate. I have managed to do ER under 23 seconds and NR about 25s. Since I can't beat the best sda times even on this low host_framerate I guess the contest winning times will be below 25s for ER and NR.
pfft, dont give me shit about .. i might not win so wont even try, i'll be lucky to get the ER under 50 seconds, i'm going to submit. This isn't about winning or nothing, its about seeing what you can do compared to all the others
that map needs a few things i'm just not good at, bunnying, keeping speed up, and air control, they are all my bad points.
please submit anyway, you wont be last
edit also SDA times have been worked on over many years, everyone here has limited time to do this contest so that arguement is invalid its just to see who can do what with their current set of skills (or lack of)
It's hard to improve oneself without feedback. If you dont know what you're doing wrong, what better way to improve than going public with your stuff, so others can give comments and suggestions.
I only spent alittle over an hour on both my runs. Normally I prefer to spend more time (2-3 hours pr run) and try to get close to what I feel is my optimum, but sometimes I dont have time or patience to do that. Most times I submit anyway. Hopefully people find it enjoyable.
As Tim so delicately says, you don't have to be a super-speedy god to enter the contest. We try and encourage people of all abilities to enter these things, the more the merrier.
More entries=more enthusiasm=more contests.
Personally, my best ER time so far is nearly DOUBLE the fastest one that has been sent in. But you'll still be seeing my name on the list of entries. Either in last place or just in front of Tim :-)
well said morfy, of course if you compare yourself to things that you aren't able to do at your current state you'll just discourage yourself, but the thought of just competing against morfy is good for me.
yeah that's right! everyone send your demos so we can have more contests in here! =) who cares if you are last.. I'd rather see my name in the last place than not at all I hope I can beat someone's time but if I cant, then it's still OK. I had fun running it (despite the fact that I almost threw my computer down from the balcony )
My guess for the times would be 26 for ER and 22 for NR. ofcourse now some wiseass will prove me wrong.. hopefully
In fact I can't bunnyjump :-[ so don't expect me to send a demo of the run. I wil try to learn it until the next contest starts. If someone can give advices how to begin ... Anyway I'm already eager to watch the demos from this contest, especially the NR.
It's running the map with different skill settings.
ER = Easy Run NR = Nightmare Run
Type skill 0 in the console and restart the map for an easy run, type skill 3 and restart the map for a nightmare run.
As a side note, the two other genres of quake running here at sda are EH and NH, meaning Easy 100% and Nightmare 100% respectively. This has nothing to do with the current contest though.
Ankhgod, i can't really bunny either, at times i can jump a bit further than a normal jump but that doesnt' mean i know how i did it or could repeat that, just do your best and submit anyway
