It makes sense at least at first so I can be very used to the game if I ever attempt 100% as long as niebezimienny doesn't physically assault me for doing such a thing! Wink

Nah, I won't, got my word for it Smiley I'd sure like to watch a 100% run, but a speedun is even more interesting. (100% wouldnt be so dynamic)

No, I haven't begun re-playing it yet but I know Oddworld like the back of my hand (hey, that's new!).

I need to finish my current project, but I should have plenty of time. Any input from others would of course be appreciated.

I finally sat down and got all the way through Oddysee. There are a lot of cool tricks you can do in the last levels to save time.

at the end I had only rescued 2 guys. One to get back into rupture farms and the very last guy to get my blue spirit ring back. But when i jumped down to the board of directors and pulled the lever I got gunned down before I could even use the blue spirit ring, but the ending sequence still played. Kind of confusing. Was that suposed to happen?

Yes it was, happened to me also, I was like "?!" all angry about having to do all this sequence again but the ending still played. So i guess it should be like that.

I can't remember this game very well but I'm almost certain that didn't happen to me. Guess it's just chance but that's a pretty 'odd' glitch anyway.

I guess if the final scene triggers when you throw the switch you don't even have to save #99.

It's cool because normally you pull the levers with the slig and have to spend a long time taking care of slogs. (probably doesnt look impressive at all to someone who's never played the game though haha)

I know theres no sound, but the video quality is decent at least. This is just something I threw together to make sure I could record. I know the play is sloppy.

The one i was talking about was even quicker. Run past the slog and quickly jump (dont have to run thru screens) then, when the slig falls down, just keep running PAST him and enter the door. No need to even press the button or posses him. Just run, run run right. I think it went like that, try it.

hmm. you're probably right about the button part, I never tried just running past it, but I'm fairly certian I got killed every time by those slogs when I tried to just run. I'll try again later. gotta go to class now.

Nice shortcut finding guys. If you find or know any for AE tell me about them.

I realized after digging up my old ps games that I'd sold the game about a year ago. At some point I'll go and pick up a copy, then get to work!

well running past the dogs doesnt work, but running past the button does. So, I used the slig to pull both levers and get eaten by the dogs. I am still above, so I can just continue past the button without having to worry about the dogs at all.

I have muchos free time over the next three days, so if I record my Ratchet and Clank run then I will definitely start on this.

I don't want to start it first otherwise I'll get distracted from R&C and won't be able to pick it up again or it'll take ages, and i really don't want to screw up any more speed-run attempts!

I started doing some test runs. These won't go into my final run. I tried doing rupture farms and stockyards in 2 segments, and came out with 4:10. However, i wouldn't trust my recording as camtasia slowed down the loading times, so maybe the time can be cloer to sub 4 in reality. I'll probably do these 2 in 1 segment for my final run, but maybe i'll do 1 segment per section.

Even though the video runs at 15 FPS, would someone like to see?

I could pull it down too with segment per level. I guess since we're segmenting anyways we might as well do them every level.
I had about 7-9 sec of error on the first one (slowed down a lot on the falling meat and had 2 guards I could have ran past quicker) And I had around 12 sec of error on stockyards because I waited for 2 rotations of the sligs (when there is 2 on the screen and you have to sneak/run right through them). Plus my rock throw at the end wans't perfect.

I had a few mistakes aswell. Like i said it was only for testing strategies so i didn't really try that much. I'd still like to see what tricks you use. Maybe you use something i don't.

About level segmentation, i guess we could do them like this:

Rupture Farms
Stockyards
Temple
Outside paramonia temple
Paramonia Temple
Outside Scrabania Temple
Scrabania Temple
Return to Rupture Farms (don't remember how this was but maybe we could do it in a few segments if it's hard)

EDIT: Speaking of oddworld, is there anyone who could do Munch's Odysee?
