Yep yep yep!
While strictly speaking, it's not Ecco 3, it might as well be.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/annunziata/the-next-ecco-the-dolphin-adventure-game

Assuming this actually gets made, it will be amazing.  Anything I could think of to say is already there, so take a look, and donate a bit if you're interested.  If the SDA marathons have taught me anything, it's that lots of small amounts of money add up fast.

Erm...  I hope this is an allowed topic, since it could be viewed as advertising...  If not, go ahead and lock it or something, and I apologize.
Thread title:
*whistle* That would be neat to see. That's a hefty goal, but not unreasonable. I hope this gets traction.

And if this doesn't make it, hey, maybe we'll get a Kolibri sequel instead Smiley
Totally rad
Could be pretty cool. Would be nice to see what actual gameplay elements they have in mind for the game.
Goal seems a little steep but I look forward to seeing what happens with this
looks like this will be the first kickstarter i contribute to.

i also want people who are reading this to go ahead and donate even if you don't think they're going to meet their goal. if you don't know, kickstarter won't actually take your money unless they meet their goal. so if you want to see this game happen then you should pledge something right now.

yeah, of course. at the same time though i'm not worried given the stream of creativity we saw from these people in the past. i'm happy not knowing if i have the opportunity to find out in 2014.
This gets Naegleria's approval.
It sounded interesting to me up until it said they want to make it an MMO... Tongue I'd love to play a single-player game like that, but an MMO... no thanks.

If we reach our goal the first version of the Big Blue will be a single player adventure game.

Then they say that they intend to keep updating the game afterwards to add support for multiplayer and etc. The vibe I get is they intend to add those elements later anyway after the game becomes self-sustaining, regardless of how much the kickstarter raises... but since they don't actually explicitly say that anywhere, could be wrong I guess.

It still sounds cool though and either way I hope it gets funded.
i know i wasn't the only one who played pso offline a ton.

Oh, and "Ecco" hype!
Yep yep yep!
I'm also not the least bit interested in the MMO aspect.  I've never really been able to get into MMOs, though I find the concepts behind them interesting.  That said, the single player is what I'm most looking forward to.

Also, there's an update with a bit more information on gameplay.
Make it so.

Yep yep yep!
They cut the MMO due to the backlash about it.

I think Ecco III is still a separate plan that Ed plans to pursue if he can get the rights from Sega, Big Blue is a project in the meantime.  Kind of depressing that the kickstarter isn't really going anywhere (seems like it's just an alternative avenue for games that would get publishing anyway rather than for more odd projects that wouldn't), I donated though.
Yep yep yep!
Unfortunately, it looks like we'll not be charged our pledges, unless someone filthy rich takes an interest in this.  That said, I hope Ed goes for a smaller-scale idea with the team he's managed to put together.

Also, the April Fools joke he pulled yesterday was hillarious.  Just take a look at the most recent update.
Pricey for a dolphin ($1000ish iirc) :p
Final Fantasy VII Fanatic
Big nostalgia on this one, That goal looks a tad steep
