Still I really wouldn't want Nintendo to swap Dark Link in OoT with an AI version of you.

If I had it my way, the new Zelda would have a 40-headed Gleeok...and all you have is a wooden sword and 3 hearts...

Maybe they'll do you a favor and put a low% mode into it.
Zelda Scientist®
Or maybe they could use Link's special "tap A" moves like FRCs in Guilty Gear X2, in that you only have a 2-4 frame window to press it, leaving nothing but pure skill involved. If they did that, I would pee my pants and be forced to sit there in it for 2 weeks just because I couldn't bring myself to stop playing in order to clean myself up.

Basically, I'm just praying for decently short windows to execute special moves. That way you can actually develop another skill in the series.
A Crab
Acryte, have you played Minish Cap?  There's some pretty nice moves you can do with short time windows to do them in.
Hey TSA, just curious, but what route are you taking?

Not to think too far ahead here, but after your inevitably great ALttP and OoT runs, what does the future hold for you speedrun wise? I know you posted this before doing TWW, but i figure maybe things have changed since then. The ones I would be most interested in (not that it matters..heh) would be LoZ and AoL and after that....*maybe* one of the Oracle games, but i only ever beat Seasons and those probably wouldnt be the most interesting games to watch, but of course, i would. One of the things i would think that would really interest me would be an improved MM run with the new tricks uncovered after you completed your run but, that would probably be boring to you after you just made a run of it 2 or 3 runs ago (by then). I dont know though, whatever you have to say about future runs would be cool, and oh yeah, any updates on ALttP successes/attempts? It seems like you already got at least one really close one. How hard would you say it is going from 2d games to 3d and vice versa? does it take some relearning?

And now im getting kicked off computer
thanks

It takes awhile to get used to a new Zelda game after spending a month or more with a different game in the series.  The hardest transistion was TMC -> TWW.  That was messed up.  Then TWW -> MM was ackward...

ALttP - for some reason the Sewer part is always the hardest for me.  If I mess up in the sewer, I always restart...I want perfection on the sewer for some reason - no hits, optimal path traveled.  It's a lot harder than it looks or sounds...

I've not played since I got the 1:40:11 time.  I'm busy scanning Japanese Zelda guides for my site...I'll resume attempts Monday.

I know what you're saying about the sewers. I haven't actually gotten out of the Light World at all some days that I do runs, I just make silly mistakes, get annoyed and restart. The llanmolas are a killer, as I want a good arrow kill on them.
I know you don't exist to appease your fans, TSA, so with that disclaimer let me just say that I would also totally love to see the MM's mask improved speed run.  That game out of all the Zelda's just appeals to me in finding the fastest route path to completion.  I hope after your LTTP and OOT runs you do eventually work on it again--it'll be great.

After this and OoT, I intend to do The Legend of Zelda for NES.
Wheeee  Cheesy I was hoping that would be it

Just curious, have you talked to Tom and/or Rodrigo about their routes? Or will you be using a route similar to the time attack (Playing money making game)?
Also tenkiforecast
Doesn't matter what you do, IMO. If you do AoL, then I'll just be in shock. that game = evil.
aw, but i like AoL, im terrible at it but its a fun challenge

Ok a few flaws in your run, TSA.

In your order, you mention Skull Woods before Misery Mire. That means you won't have the Cane of Somaria for the room before the Big Key in Skull Woods(unless I'm missing something).

The next is: If you skip the Mirror Shield, later on there is a short one way path needed to get a small key with an Eye shooting lasers at you. There may be a way to get to the key but as far as I know, it's impossible to get to the key without the Mirror Shield or Cape, as the Eye will push you off with the lasers.

Of course, in Skull Woods, you can always use that huge stone block and pull it back onto the switch but that wastes more time than having the Cane of Somaria.

Time saved from getting the Cane of Somaria versus the time to return to the Skull Woods at another time versus right after Thieve's town doesn't warrant doing Misery Mire first.  Trust me - I don't fight...I pull the stone statue...and it's like all of 10 seconds slower than using the cane of somaria, versus having to warp to Kakariko later and going to the Dark World warp...which is about 25 seconds added on.

Also - you can narrowly walk across that patch of bridge at the top and avoid the laser.

Alright TSA, based on your previous run, I've made this list on what you can change, ALOT of these have been mentioned when you created this topic.

- In Hyrule Castle basement, on your way to rescuing Zelda in the room with 2 Green Knights. Sword spin the one on the right while approaching it. Later on, with Zelda, you can turn right at that point and not go south and up the steps.

- Eastern Palace: Skip the chest with 100 Rupees 2 rooms up upon entering the dungeon.

- Eastern Palace: (risky)Big Key room,  lift up the pot with the 4 rotating skulls to step on the switch instead of killing all monsters in that room(if you're good you only lose 1 heart piece in that room, otherwise 2 or 3 if you're really bad..).

- Eastern Palace: The dark room up from getting the Bow. Enter the room on the right for 100 Rupees lying on the floor.

- Eastern Palace: Room with the green huge-eye ball guys. You can just swiftly walk over the top of the switch without having to kill the green huge eye-ball guy.

- Tower of Hera: Hit the red/blue switch, giving a faster route, losing hearts before Moldorm.

- Hyrule Castle: Dark room with pits, take the ledge going up as soon as you enter the room.

Walk throughs of Dark world dungeons in following posts.

Well, you've seen the Palace of Darkness so I won't post it. Hope it improves your time.

While some of that was addressed in my first post and done in Madzombie's run already -

Your Palace of Darkness tricks were nice.  Arrow to hit the crystal switch and the new Helmasaur strategy using "bombs" via holding them and tossing them at his mask when they are about to explode is good.
Talk to the Hand
The funny thing is, bombs were how I used to beat the Helmasaur when I was like 8 years old.  Tongue I couldn't do it quickly though, because I'd just lay them down near him as opposed to tossing them at him when they were about to explode.

Weird thought: I presume you don't grab any bottles throughout the run, correct? If that's right, then forget what I'm about to say, but using the Good Bee to go house on Mothula seems to be the quickest way to do that battle...I'm not sure if it makes up for the time required to get a bottle though.

Mother fucker of god.  Angry

I got to Agahnim 2 - and my on-screen timer read 1:36:22.  I get to Ganon at 1:38 something thanks to OMFG BS.  Still a chance, right?  I get to the part where he is suppose to stop and jump to make tiles...it's 1:39.  He does this for...guess what...40 seconds.  One time he did 9 back and forths.  Then finally I get to the froze part...I didn't even beat my 1:40:11 time.  That was ultimate crap.  I had it.  What a crock of shit.

More attempts tomorrow.
