My feelings on The Demon Rush
Everyone knows by now I am contracted by PCF to run AGDQ. This year there are more people contracted to help run the event. Here's the rundown.
Me - Event Director
Cool Matty - Technical advisor and Stream Production Manager
UraniumAnchor - Donation Tracker Developer and On-site Stream Management
SMK - Donation Tracker Developer
Romscout – PR and Stream Manager
He will oversee the pre-shows similar to what was done for SGDQ.
Sumi – PR and Marketing Manager
Studio – PR Manager, Lead Press Contact
ONOGMuffins (Hannah) – Volunteer and Stream Room Coordinator
Murphagator – Event Coordinator and Rules Enforcer
Raelcun – Stream Room Coordinator
Chris Hanel – Graphic and Layout Designer
Examples of his work can be found here.
LLK/Jazaaboo – Banner Designers
Gildersneeze – Video Editor
You probably know his work from The Sunday Sequence Break. He will be producing the AGDQ 2015 trailer, along with some block videos.
This is more staff than AGDQ 2014, but the events are becoming bigger, and the staff is needed. In fact, you might notice a lot of the people involved are not SDA staff. As such, we have decided to call the events Games Done Quick marathons (instead of SDA marathons), and GDQ has been registered as a company. This decision came after discussions with the SDA staff and community members, who are supportive of the change and agree this decision makes sense.
The social media channels will be rebranded to Games Done Quick, but we did not want to make any changes until this announcement was made.
A small FAQ for those wondering.
Q: Is marathon discussion going to stay on the SDA forums?
A: Yes, it's more convenient for everyone that way. Also, SDA staff is fine with GDQ marathon discussion staying on the forums.
Q: What will this change about marathons?
A: Aside from the stream channel change, http://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick (sda and speeddemosarchivesda redirect to it), and a new YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/gamesdonequick), nothing really, The marathons are still going to be run like they have been in the past, and if you thought I sold out already then I'm still a sellout.
Q: Is there bad blood between you or GDQ and SDA staff?
A: Nope, none at all, in fact a lot of SDA staff are supportive of the change and they say it makes sense.
Q: Will SDA be mentioned and/or promoted during the marathons?
A: Yes, they will be, it’ll be similar to the past, but instead of saying an SDA marathon, it will be a marathon featuring members of SDA (and SRL of course!)
Q: Will SDA’s involvement with the marathon change?
A: Not really, there has been a gradual shift of marathon staff that haven’t been SDA staff.
Q: Is Prevent Cancer going to reimburse for some of the equipment like AGDQ 2014?
A: Yes, they are reimbursing us for some of the equipment such as UPSes, monitors, speaker stands, and surge protectors. They are also paying for the conference rooms like Doctors Without Borders did for SGDQ.
Q: More money is being raised for PCF every year, where will it go?
A: So as part of the letter of agreement, Jan (PCF’s vice president) outlined the use of revenue as follows in the hidden button below.

A: So as part of the letter of agreement, Jan (PCF’s vice president) outlined the use of revenue as follows in the hidden button below.
-Funding of a two years $250,000 research grant in the prevention/or early detection of cancer. The grant will be named as the Awesome Games Done Quick Research Grant. This used to be a $80,000 grant, but it’s being scaled up to match donations.
-Funding a one-time community outreach and/or education grant to a community program providing education and/or cancer screening. The name of the grant will be the Awesome Games Done Quick Community Grant.
-Sponsorship of the annual Dialogue for Action Conference, an event to spark discussion and encourage action throughout the year that will lead to increased cancer screening in communities across the nation.
-Funding a phone app in development to allow young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers to communicate with one another.
