My feelings on The Demon Rush
Everyone knows by now I am contracted by PCF to run AGDQ. This year there are more people contracted to help run the event. Here's the rundown.

Me - Event Director

Cool Matty - Technical advisor and Stream Production Manager

UraniumAnchor -  Donation Tracker Developer and On-site Stream Management

SMK - Donation Tracker Developer

Romscout – PR and Stream Manager
He will oversee the pre-shows similar to what was done for SGDQ.

Sumi – PR and Marketing Manager

Studio – PR Manager, Lead Press Contact

ONOGMuffins (Hannah) – Volunteer and Stream Room Coordinator

Murphagator – Event Coordinator and Rules Enforcer

Raelcun – Stream Room Coordinator

Chris Hanel – Graphic and Layout Designer
Examples of his work can be found here.

LLK/Jazaaboo – Banner Designers

Gildersneeze – Video Editor
You probably know his work from The Sunday Sequence Break. He will be producing the AGDQ 2015 trailer, along with some block videos.

This is more staff than AGDQ 2014, but the events are becoming bigger, and the staff is needed. In fact, you might notice a lot of the people involved are not SDA staff.  As such, we have decided to call the events Games Done Quick marathons (instead of SDA marathons), and GDQ has been registered as a company. This decision came after discussions with the SDA staff and community members, who are supportive of the change and agree this decision makes sense.

The social media channels will be rebranded to Games Done Quick, but we did not want to make any changes until this announcement was made.

A small FAQ for those wondering.

Q: Is marathon discussion going to stay on the SDA forums?
A: Yes, it's more convenient for everyone that way. Also, SDA staff is fine with GDQ marathon discussion staying on the forums.

Q: What will this change about marathons?
A: Aside from the stream channel change, http://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick (sda and speeddemosarchivesda redirect to it), and a new YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/gamesdonequick), nothing really, The marathons are still going to be run like they have been in the past, and if you thought I sold out already then I'm still a sellout.

Q: Is there bad blood between you or GDQ and SDA staff?
A: Nope, none at all, in fact a lot of SDA staff are supportive of the change and they say it makes sense.

Q: Will SDA be mentioned and/or promoted during the marathons?
A: Yes, they will be, it’ll be similar to the past, but instead of saying an SDA marathon, it will be a marathon featuring members of SDA (and SRL of course!)

Q: Will SDA’s involvement with the marathon change?
A: Not really, there has been a gradual shift of marathon staff that haven’t been SDA staff.

Q: Is Prevent Cancer going to reimburse for some of the equipment like AGDQ 2014?
A: Yes, they are reimbursing us for some of the equipment such as UPSes, monitors, speaker stands, and surge protectors. They are also paying for the conference rooms like Doctors Without Borders did for SGDQ.

Q: More money is being raised for PCF every year, where will it go?
A: So as part of the letter of agreement, Jan (PCF’s vice president) outlined the use of revenue as follows in the hidden button below.

-Funding of a two years $250,000 research grant in the prevention/or early detection of cancer. The grant will be named as the Awesome Games Done Quick Research Grant. This used to be a $80,000 grant, but it’s being scaled up to match donations.

-Funding a one-time community outreach and/or education grant to a community program providing education and/or cancer screening. The name of the grant will be the Awesome Games Done Quick Community Grant.

-Sponsorship of the annual Dialogue for Action Conference, an event to spark discussion and encourage action throughout the year that will lead to increased cancer screening in communities across the nation.

-Funding a phone app in development to allow young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers to communicate with one another.

Now if anyone has any questions about this new development, then feel free to ask.

something something SDA oldbois something something sellout something something taking the money and running

(edit) Real questions.

1) Will details about individual contracts be publicized?
2) How does this affect SGDQ staffing?

Oh no I'm exposed! *runs*
Will this separation of staff change anything in regards to development of sda?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
No, it shouldn't, since most of the people involved in GDQ marathons weren't working on SDA backend. UA would be the one exception to that.

Since you're probably asking about me, it won't really change anything as is. I have less time than I did before to work on SDA, but there's some other things going on that'll free up some of my time fairly soon. The details probably belong in another thread, though.

Just curious, if you ever need more people to help on staff, like with video making and editing, I'd like to keep myself available for any assistance. The change is also interesting, and straight forward. I'm not all against the name change, since it makes the site more clear to understand for anybody. Calling it mainly GDQ is a good way to go.

Vulajin: I noticed you had some real questions too.

1. You mean with PCF? I could definitely post what PCF is covering and reimbursement outside of what people are getting paid (that's getting a bit personal).

2. Some of the coordinators and enforcers will have to be different for SGDQ, and I'll have a different role for SGDQ (mostly background logistics management and accounting), but other than that, it would be pretty similar.
For AGDQ last year you listed some numbers of hours that people were contracted for. However, I would also like to know the salaries and social security numbers of the individuals being contracted. (possibly facetious)
You should be getting SSNs, Bloodtypes, and Mother's Maiden Names in a mailer
Also I'm really glad you're bringing back the preshows. The preshows were one of the most effective ideas implemented for SGDQ 2014. I liked them a lot.

Oh yeah Vulajin, I can post the hours people are contracted for if you want that info. Salaries and SSNs are Uyamanati secrets.

Also, GDQ has its own YouTube channel now, rather than uploading everything to the SDA YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/user/gamesdonequick

I'm currently uploading the SGDQ videos as I finish them, and eventually all of the marathon footage I have copies of (which is everything but JRDQ, basically) will end up here. Including the compilation reels.

Everything will still get uploaded to archive.org, as has been done so far, but now there's a central YouTube channel for those of you who prefer that method.

HELLO!
Will SDA get new social media channels to promote SDA runs and things?

Also congratulations on the continued growth of the marathons.

The current existing Social Media channels will be rebranded to reflect the change.  At this point in time, you shouldn't need to re-follow anything that you haven't already followed for GDQ other than the YouTube channel that UA mentions above your post (https://www.youtube.com/user/gamesdonequick).

Edit: We aren't sure whether SDA will be getting new social media at this point in time, but everyone will get the word out through the forums and the rebranded channels when/if that happens.
I think presj was referring to the sda side of things, rather than the gdq side of things.
"Change is what helps us grow, but is also what destroys us" -- MrSparkle, October 2010. I've never been one to live by those words, and I won't start now. Thank you for the updates, and good luck with the rest of the preparations for what's shaping up to be another fantastic marathon.
Old Iron Giant
Does this mean the GDQ will be even more sterile than they where last year?

Cause AGDQ and SGDQ felt way to quiet compared to other years, like all the fun was sucked out of the room.

Hi I like to spread bullshit rumors.
Fucking Weeaboo
Quote from Naegleria:
I remember asking this a while back, but do you (uyama) still have sole control of the donation money?  is it possible for you to steal it all and fly to a foreign country and hide or something crazy like that?  Not to say you or any other member of the staff is likely to pull a stunt like that, I'm just wondering if the current setup prevents this situation from happening or not.

Outside of physical money given, hasn't all of it gone to PCF's own paypal account for years now?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Naegleria: Outside of cash donations (which are donated to PCF after the event), the money has never touched my hands. It's what Sir VG said, it goes to PCF's paypal account. Donation money hasn't touched my hands since CGDQ.

If you're talking about event registrations and other GDQ revenue then yes, I still have access to that.

To expand on this, if you donate to a strictly charity marathon and you're paying into a personal PayPal account, this should raise red flags. (Marathons to raise money for runners to go to a GDQ don't fall in this territory of course).
With bonus streams getting more popular (based on my youtube statistics) I wanted to share the following:

The bonus stream videos have always been titled with AGDQ/SGDQ names, so I'm leaving those as-is.  The videos all have tags of "SpeedDemosArchive (Website)", among others.  Unless asked to do otherwise, I'm going to leave it that way going forward.  If a new(er) tag is preferred I will add it starting with AGDQ 2015.

Also since money-handling/donations were brought up in this thread I want to state:  I do not monetize the bonus stream videos.  If anyone finds them monetized on my channel it is an error, please let me know.  If Mike and others would like me to monetize I will discuss it with them and all revenue would go to the charity(ies) twice a year.

We do not mind at all people uploading marathon footage to their YT channels or wherever else, so long as you don't monetize them. I suppose if it's your run that might be different but definitely don't monetize other people's runs.
