yes, as zhouy said.
the quake map source is free. so i fixed quake textures to be compatible with halflife. then fix some entities and add hl weapons n monsters.
i might do more maps in the future.
Guys please help me cause I am new in this site but I have watched a lot of speed run and I decided to make my own one...
So my question to you is HOW TO MAKE IT?? Please help me how to do it what scripts to use because I know that in this site you can meet best of the best speed runners and I really, really appreciate that so please I need some HELP ( :-\)

Just thought I'd asl but is their a video of the 4 or so latest Half-Life speedruns edited together side by side. I'm pretty sure their isnt but I thought I would ask and make sure. Just thought it would be intersting to actully see how much time stuff saves in realtime.

yeah, i used to watch some speedruns like that. though the faster one will always go faster, so you gotta make it pause at some checkpoints to wait for the others i guess )

I wouldnt really mind if it didnt pause at checkpoints just so you could be like, "oh wow he's just finished Blast Pit, he's just started it and he hasnt even got their yet."

Hmm... Rough estimates on time.

11:49 into each run:

SW started On A Rail.

Random Engy was trying to get power to the rocket to kill the tenticle monster.

Dopefish has just started We've Got Hostiles.

Think-Circle was in the elevator just before We've Got Hostiles.

Interesting or not, I'd prefer it if it was done on a map basis. Something else I noticed... why did Dopefish start off with 93 health?

Sorry to change topic, but I was just curious if any of these Half-Life runners were planning to submit any of their runs on Half-Life mods?  Remember, the admins have changed their policies to allow mod submissions.  There are plenty in this very thread.  If you think yours is optimized, you should consider submitting it.

Igge and I have talked and we're both willing to submit our Research and Development EP2 mod run. I'm talking to CooL and Typical, who ran Missing Information (HL2 mod) and Awakening (I think ep1 mod? Maybe just hl2), and they didn't give me a decision, but they seem like they will, though CooL wants to improve his Missing Information run.

I need to type up comments to the rest of the R&D run, so that'll take me a while, but definitely fine with submitting the run Smiley

How come nobody ever submitted HL Lost Coast, since it's official.
And what about HL Uplink? I mean, it's a demo, but it's still an additional level that doesn't appear in the main game. Would a submission of this game be allowed now?

And there's a Missing Information speedrun?

Yeah, sorry about that.  Perhaps a bad example.  I wish I could verify it, but I and the other three people who I know from SDA who have played it only have experience with the inbred mutant that is the PS2 version.  It's so remarkably clunky and restrictive, I could not attempt to verify your run in good conscience.  Not that you cheated or anything like that, but if you had I would be the last person to know.

Heh, not so much coming back to SDA, as we're an entirely new team really. None of the old hl2dq runners are in our team, apart from o40, though he's disappeared for a while, due to work I assume. As soon as I finish the runs I'm working on right now, maybe partway through ep2, I'll find another mod to start running.

Just as an aside, I noticed that on the run page for HL1 (http://speeddemosarchive.com/HalfLife.html) it labels which runs use the HLSP Bunny mod and which don't, but it never once mentions what the mod actually does.  Maybe there should be, like, a blurb in the intro or something.

Oh yeah, I know how it works, but maybe the should stick a link to that on the video page.
They should also mention that the hazard course runs are single-segments.

I have a big favor to ask anyone:

Will you please record a HL2 run using any 'console' codes that will let you beat the game fastest, I'm thinking using noclip to each loading section (and maybe 'host_timescale #' would help).

HL2 (PC) speedruns are now obsolete due to update.
