I doubt they'll all collaborate on one awesome run, it'll probably end up like the EP1 speedrun (still very awesome), just not like HL2 was.

I think the community is just pissed off (me included) at the amount of invisible walls, and shit to prevent SBs that are in the game.
Yeah, but... still, doing those wallclimbing stuff and everything is more than you can do in most other games.
But I can understand you, Breakthrough and Spearhead for example, the two expansions of Medal of Honor Allied Assault, are so full of scripted events and invisible walls. Running those games is so different from running the main game.

For some reason my Half-Life: Uplink video uploaded at Google Video no longer works.
Because of that I re-recorded it from the demo files, but this time in HD resolution, and put in on YouTube.
I have also put some annotations in the video which can be interesting.

I've posted a couple of new Uplink tricks that I've found:
skybox, grenade jump, ladder boost
Found the ladder boost trick today, pretty ingenious isn't it? Cheesy

Also, I didn't do any bunny jumping in my speedrun since at that time I wasn't any good at it so I didn't even try.
If I do another run of Uplink I might learn how to bunnyjump properly. Do you guys use third party tools like AutoHotKey when you speedrun? I don't think I will ever use third party programs...
For Half-Life/Goldsource you use intern scripts. But I think it's still pretty tricky. Someone posted a nice guide for that chinese guy who didn't understand that using scripts in HL isn't like using AHK in HL2. Just search the forums.

Also, awesome new tricks. But what's that beeping sound when holding grenades? Is that a mod?

The latest hlspbunny version does that, it's supposed to make it easier to time the grenades, but for some reason the sound often disappears after you throw the grenade. When you have recorded a demo you can remove the .wav if you don't want the sound when you record with Fraps.

I would like to speedrun it, it will be probably done.
Check this out, another Half-Life: Uplink trick: the tripmine trick!
This way you don't have to wait for the explosion and you can also get a nice boost.
It is possible to do that and skip the boost as well, if you don't want to lose the hp.
Note: I have done all the small tricks on easy, it just makes it a bit easier to do them. I bet it's still possible on hard but maybe not that feasible.

I did a speedrun of "TYS - Test Your Skill" on hard difficulty in 5:16.
I started timing when I got control and stopped when I reached that teleporter at the end of the game.
And I used hlspbunny (or rather the hlspbunny dll files) because of the conveniant autorecord function.

Oh, I found the best parts to be that fast jumping through those rotating "hammers" (or whatever those things are) and how I just ran past all these turrets instead of destroying them.

It's kind of hard to download anything from RS if you're sharing your external ip with about 500 other people. Someone put it ANYWHERE but RS, please.
is it possible to get the demo automatly recording when the map is running on? (half-life)
With hlspbunny you can use sv_autorecord and it will start a new demo every time you load a savegame, really handy.

I'm using hlspbunny on steam, I don't think it works on non-steam. There used to be a download linked from the Half-Life article, but I can't find it.
You should be able to run the mod on steam by just copying the mod to the "steam\steamapps\<account>\half-life" directory.
I no need to record on HL, i'm trying to use hlsp with 1 HL'mod. (called halfquake amen)

there is my folders:


\half-life(goldsrc on steam)
  hlsp
  halfquake
  valve(the half-life game)


i tryed to modify dlls from the liblist.gam, but it dont work. (and i'm not abble to modify .C files)
Copy the hlspbunny files into the mod folder, overwriting client.dll and hl.dll.

the mod dont have client.dll, i'm stuck :s (there is no cl_dlls folder)

Hmm.. that's weird.
Anyway, I got it working with halfquake amen.
All I did was extract the mod so it works on Steam, then I just extracted the hlspbunny mod in the directory (overwriting hl.dll).
I did not overwrite liblist.gam, I think you should only do that on the original half-life.

Edit: Omg this game is sadistic. A crazy man playing this would go ten times as crazy. Man...

Someone should search for the archive page of that run and insert that link, since that run is obsoleted.

Also, I found a shortcut in Poke646 that I think wasn't used in the current run (I could be wrong).
