All the things
Hello all,
First off, I ask that you read the following page for exact details:
http://www.razoo.com/story/4pawsforhenry
The tl;dr: the child of two of my good friends is in need of a service dog due to complications from an autism spectrum disorder. These dogs can be prohibitively expensive to train ($22k+), but they are partnering with charity organization 4 Paws for Ability that will eventually be able to train a dog specifically for Henry. 4 Paws does not ask for direct compensation, and instead requests recipients to put on a fundraiser for the organization.
4 Paws for Henry Streaming Event
The speedrunning community in general is quite familiar with raising money for many different charities through marathon-style events. For this particular fundraiser though, we're going to be doing something different since some other types of streaming communities will also be involved. Rather than going with a fixed schedule and central channel, we simply ask that streamers plug for the charity and point to the donation page periodically over a one-day timeframe. There's no commitment to streaming for a long time or changing up content solely for the event. Simply, if you want to participate, just give some notice to the charity whenever you happen to stream during the event timeframe.
WHAT: 4 Paws for Henry
WHEN: 6 PM EDT Friday, May 15 through 6 PM EDT Saturday, May 16
WHERE: Your stream! Central directory of participating streams coming soon.
WHY: To benefit 4 Paws for Ability, a specialty organization that trains service animals for children, on behalf of Henry.
I will put links and a few resources (markdown banners, etc) into this post as they become available. The plan is to have a central directory listing participating streams (with indications of which ones are active at any given time) and provide a special bot that can display event/charity information on command. If you'd like to help out, just give a post here with a link to your stream.
Some quick clarifications and misc notes:
-Any donations go directly to 4 Paws for Ability, not to Henry's family.
-The event bot will only be active during the 24 hours of the event; it will leave your chat when the event is done.
-While the event itself has a set timeframe, there's nothing in wrong with plugging for the charity before/after. If you have time conflicts and can't participate during the main timeframe, feel free to plug it during any of your streams instead.
-Please keep streams obscenity-free or at least to a minimum. Henry loves watching speedruns (!) so keep in mind that you could have very young viewers watching.
-Henry loves watching Mario games! There's no need to try to theme your stream content, but if you've got some Mario experience it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it out
And that's that. It's kind of an experiment as far as online charity events go, but it's what makes sense for the current circumstances and timeline. Any questions or comments can go directly to the organizers (Henry's parents; email coming soon). Again, if you'd like to help out, just give a post here with a link to your stream.
Thank you so much!

EDIT:
Materials and some basic rules/info below.
Webpage: http://4pawsforhenry.azurewebsites.net/
This is kind of the central page for the day's activities, it has more in-depth information and links to participating streams. Some minor updates still to be done (I'm not the one making it though), but reasonable place to point people to start.
For a Markdown banner, we're pretty limited with what we can do. Basic instructions are below, but feel free to spruce it up if you want.
Creating Donation Widget:
1. Add New Panel
2. Title: 4 Paws For Henry
3. Image Links To: http://www.razoo.com/story/4pawsforhenry
4. Description: [Click Here](http://www.razoo.com/story/4pawsforhenry) to donate to help Henry and others get their Therapy dogs\
5. Add attached image (below)
6. Submit
For the bot, it's going to advertise with a short message every 30 minutes or so. Channel moderators can also trigger it by simply typing !4paws . There are no other features. If you don't want it to auto-advertise, just kick it; it will not rejoin.
Finally, here's some stream rules from Henry's Dad:

Finally, here's some stream rules from Henry's Dad:
Quote:
Rules:
Keep stream content/language PG/ a mild PG-13. Think casual family friendly event. There is a good chance Henry and other family members will be watching the streams, since Henry really loves games.
Please periodically let your viewers know that you are streaming for 4 Paws For Ability on behalf of our family (Henry). All donations go directly to 4 Paws, not us, and if we meet our fundraising goal for them we will be eligible to receive an autism assistance dog for Henry. For legal/ethical purposes you must be very clear that you are raising money for 4 Paws to help our family and not raising money directly for us.
Direct your stream viewers to donate to 4 Paws by clicking on the donation widget on your stream (Directions to create widget below) or by going directly to razoo.com/4pawsforHenry. You may not take any donations, online or offline, directly to you or an account you own, even if you intend to later send the money to us/4Paws.

You are allowed to do giveaways on your stream during this charity event, however you may *not* "charge" people donations to enter to win a giveaway on your stream or limit entries to donors. This is very important.
Help us get the word out by using your social media accounts during the event!
Thank you so much for streaming for our event and helping us on our journey to get a service dog for Henry!
