Just to confirm things (or rather a thing), I ordered that ground loop isolator (specifically the PAC one) and it works like a charm. Gets rid of the interference.

I am amazed that this capture device is functioning much better than the DS original. I'll use Fraps for longer runs as I can confirm that combining videos from Fraps that were originally split into 4GB does not cut off the sound in-between those splits.

What's so good about it is that there isn't any 100% stable emulator programs out there so I feel much safer using FRAPS this time around (less suspicion that I used emulators) . Thank you very much Loopy and katsukity (and Yamihoshi who I think managed to brought Loopy into this site followed by katsukity) for making these projects a reality.

Hey Loopy I have another question. Do you have any idea if this software will run on Wine if I use Mac OS X? I talked to some other people about it, and they said that they didn't know why it shouldn't work. Just thought I'd ask anyways. Seriously though, I am very much looking forwards to getting one, especially considering all of the good things I've heard from Volv. Tongue

Although, it may be a couple months before I can because, alas, I am just a poor teenager with parents who look down upon serious speedrunners. Sad

I have a Mac also and I'd like to send my 3DS in to get the capture card on it. I'll be looking out for when it is ready!

Greenalink, I've never invited anyone to this place.
Also, I checked Wine's compatibility in OS X, and no, the Capture App doesn't work in Wine (and I don't expect it to work the way it has to be).
We'd be able to convert it to a Mac App, using a full Source Code, but it isn't as easy as it's said, as Loopy used lots of Windows-only C++ Commands, while DirectX and the way the GUI is written are the biggest problems.

There are no C++ Wndows-only commands. C++ is OS independent. Presumably you meant Windows-only API.

heh i wish this was what happend to me. at least your customs just rip you off and not steal the 3DS outright like the customs of my country.

yeah, that's right. my 3DS was stolen by the motherfucking customs and i'm pissed off now. not as pissed as when my previous 3DS and games were stolen but this year is definitely not my year. to top it, i'll be out of a job in 2 weeks so i can't even save up for another one.
just when you think things can't get worse.... at this rate i won't see the year's end.

Is the noise that much of an issue that the loop isolators are needed? I dunno it just seems like the problem could be solved with a little bit noise removal

It's enough of an issue that there are complains about it, so I'd have to say yes. You can do noise removal of course, but having to explain to all your customers - _yes_, there is some noise, you can use this software, do these steps to fix it, etc etc.. it's just too much hassle for me so I'm sending noise filters with the board instead.

I could try to do noise removal in my capture software, but not everyone uses it for recording so that's not a big help.

But man, I'm really happy, that I got the boards in Mid August. Some people have to wait months for it.

a question.
what are the current plans with the 3DSXL version of the capture device? any of you guys making them planning to jump on it soon or will you wait longer? after the whole thing with my 3DS being lost on the mail, i don't quite feel like buying another identical one currently because i got the XL last month and i would rather use that one since it is several times more comfortable.
