Fucking Weeaboo
There are ways around that, of course.  It could be considered really an option that if people want to record to S-Video/composite, all that's needed from loopy is to do is make sure to use a standard that works with the device.

If you need one (or anybody else from non-US, unless you/I find another link), I can help acquire one for you.

Amazon Link too: http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Composite-S-Video-Converter-3RCA/dp/B0047PDBP0/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_2

(So you may find it on a UK/European version of the site too.)

Although they're the same product of the same shop, it's still shocking how more expensive it is for Europe.

I mean, $ 50,- = € 34,98, and £ 50,- = € 56,84.
And that's for one the same device, in another region of the world.
Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, that's spendy for the same device.  I could probably purchase it in the US, have it shipped to pretty much anywhere in Europe and still pay less.

Double amazing considering how weak the USD is right now.

But there's definitely methods of doing it, if people want the option, so that will save on time and necessary ports on loopy's device, thus keeping the size and cost down for him.

Quits halfway
So, I haven't been following the entire thing, the capture device is going to be built into the system itself? And is it still the case that it'll be a fat DS? (Neither are problems, just didn't see it mentioned)

No, it will be mounted on the back of the 3DS, not DS.
We've changed the topic of this thread.
DS Dictator
I (or a admin) can change the actual title to this thread, what shall we call it now?

How about "3DS Capture Device", or "Handheld Capture Device"?
DS Dictator
Done, I was going to call it "(3)DS Capture Device" but viewers would be thinking on modding the DS Classics models and not just the 3DS.

I was at Nintendo of Belgium, to try out Zelda, but I couldn't access their Capture Device, since they don't have any (only Nintendo of Germany have them, but they're pretty far away).

Hello, you guys seem to be the only ones that can really help in this department. Im a part time Freelance Journalist & full time Youtube personality. Ive been trying for 6 months to get the Partner-CTR Capture device for the 3DS. Ive chatted with PR from NOA,UK and they all keep sending me to the wrong people... like SDSG. Who then sends me to the people like EAD, that send me back to PR... or they have no idea the unit exists. Up until recently no US publication has the device, although Gamespot might now, as evident by the latest OOT 3D video Review. Still when I was at Pax East, I did see the CTR, and it doesn't look all that different from the IS-TWL. Yet the Reps there wouldn't talk to me edge wise about the box, showing 3DS footage on the Tv.  Since March Ive been doing a lot of 3DS stuff, but off screen and its very difficult. If any of you could point me in the right direction, or no of a working alternative, that would be a huge help to me and my work. My Rep at NOA has done all they can to help me in my Quest and unfortunately for me, i know more on the device then they do. Thanks very much for your time and have a great weekend.thumbsup

Same happened to me, when I was at Nintendo Belgium.
I asked them to capture footage, and the only thing they said is, "We just get video footage from partners in Germany, that's all.".
I'm also an online games journalist, so having a Capture Device is very handy for me.

I also know a person, which his friend is a developer, and said that the PARTNER-CTR Capture (the Capture-only Device) indeed exists, but it's not really consumer-friendly, as the Home Button doesn't work, no retail games can be played with it, etc.
I heard back from my big contact at NOA, they told me the kits are in......but they are already all out, by the big publications. My name has been added to the list & I could get a loan on one, later this year. but they don't know. Im going to ask if it is possible to buy one off them still though...and i know it will be expensive. I will keep you all posted. In the mean time my Zelda 3DS video did ok 15 K in less then a week. Not bad for a freelancer right. Catch ya all later.

I think it's pretty much fucked up here in Europe.
Everytime I ask the Dutch or Belgian PR about things like that, I'm pointed to the main office in Germany.
I mail them, and I'm pointed back to my local PR Agencies.

At the office in Belgium, their PR Agency even told me that everything is done in Germany, the ones in other European countries are just for distribution, marketing, and press releases, so in that fact, they don't even have a Partner-CTR unit.

I've been looking at Game Centre CX in the Japanese Nintendo eShop, and look where their 3DS is attached to:

It looks like a normal 3DS being attached to the Partner-CTR Capture device.
We'll only know that either through someone that is able to capture 3DS footages the official way, or tomorrow at Nintendo's Post E3 Event, at Nintendo's office.
That's the CTR all right and it works with commercial games, IGN has one...but my contact at NOA told me they can't help me anymore with that. I will follow up with IGN, because my contact told me that Nintendo won't license the partner CTR to Media. So im guessing there is something strictly for Media. But at this time I have no name to go by for the device, but I think Reggie showed it several weeks ago on the Jimmy Felon show, where he showed UpRising, Skyward Sword and the Wii U. I will keep you all posted. Looks like I will be fliming off screen for awhile yet....oh to joy =P

Alright, I was at Nintendo's Post E3 Event, and it seems I know even more about Nintendo, than the people at Nintendo even know.
They even responded my questions, just like they didn't know such capture devices even exist.
Then I was talking about the YH-NITRO-CAPTURE, and the 3DS Capture Device, which is currently in development by loopy.
The only thing they said is: "Wow, that's very handy!", and "Japan always keeps anything secret to us.".

While that's said, I've clearly seen that all of the 3DS's were Development Units.
They can be booted into the normal menu, the demo's display on which date they were compiled, and the Home Button doesn't work, which is all very interesting.

I know they were Development Units, because the back even says "Development Unit".
Sorry, no red surroundings.
See my Ytube.
Being following this project and i have some type of suggestion.

For ds mode capture: is it possible to create a app and send it to the ds download play to stream images throw wifi?
so it is like this: Wii (to see it in a tv) or pc send app to DS in download play, ds receives it and boots game card, wii or pc app starts receiving the image and shows it to the user.

I know that it wont have too many fps but its a begining for still pics? thumbsup

We're actually talking about something completely different.
It's a modified 3DS, not a streaming App.

Yes i know but do you think this is  possible?
Visit us!
I've been asking that on WiiBrew, a few years ago.
They've said it's impossible, as the DS and Wii both use different signals.

The one I'm using, as a DS with an IDE cable inside the DS system, connected to some spare boards, which is connected through USB 2.0 to a Windows PC.
And a Line In cable has been used for sound.
See my Ytube.
Can you link me to the one thats making the 3ds capture i would like to take a look on is website?

really? so how its possible to transfer ds demos through the nintendo channel?
Visit us!
It has no link, as Loopy and our company are emailing with each other about it.
There are photo's available, but we've been asked to keep them secretly for now.

And the DS Demo's can be downloaded, because the Wii sends them, not vise versa.
See my Ytube.
So weird way: wii sends to ds and ds sends to pc?
Is it possible?

Btw great work lets hope some day ninty see's this and creat a handheld with tv out put
Fucking Weeaboo
DS Demos work because you're basically transfering a ROM image into the DS RAM.  Since RAM is volatile memory, when it loses power (aka the system is turned off), it goes away.

As for tranfering picture, theoretically, if the DS could send video out, it would eat up half of the optimal 802.11b bandwidth.  Which wireless is never optimal.  A sample image that would equate to both screens (256 x 384 pixels, 24bit BMP, since the video would have to be uncompressed) was 292KB.  Optimal 802.11b transfer is 549KB/s.    But since Wi=Fi is imperfect and the system doesn't have the extra processing power to intercept the signal for a Wi-Fi transfer, it can't happen.
See my Ytube.
Ok thanks.
Keep up  the good work happy
