I just like the games.

I have done contra (nes), super c (nes) and contra 3 hard mode (snes) in sequence (single segment). That's right, I start the first game, and after I finish it, I proceed to the next game without interruption, and without restarting. If I want to restart, I have to remake the first one. This makes it harder to manipulate luck, and I have to rely a lot on skill and knowledge of the game.

I Have also done double dragon 1 2 and 3 (nes) in sequence (single segment). I'm in the process of recording the AVI to put on youtube. The times for each game were something like 16,5 mins, 18,5 mins and 25 mins respectively.
edit: avi ready, uploading now.

The reason I do these kinds of weird concept runs (like the double dragon 2 where i control BOTH characters at the same time), is because I think unassisted speedruns are meant for showing skills, and nothing better to show real skills than making the game even harder. If I wanted to see the game beaten as fast as possible I'd watch the TAS instead.
Well, anyway, hope you guys like this kind of thing. I'll do the ninja gaiden someday... Smiley

You died and they were all pretty slow. Gotta say I wasn't that impressed. Sorry.

Do it no deaths and faster and it would be more impressive :-).

I definitely like the concept.

And it could make an impressive SDA speedrun, like say if in Zelda 1 someone completed the normal quest and then the extra quest together single-segment (fast of course :P).  edit: Or totally beat the Mario All-Stars/Mario World cartridge in one sitting.

I just like the games.
how could you expect me not to die?
i'd accept you saying that it's slow if there was a faster run like this available. if nobody can make a faster one, then this is pretty fast. now, about you not being impressed, that's all up to you Wink

I've only watched the Contra 1 part, but it looks like you fell 5-6 minutes short of Croc-Doc.  Course that doesn't take into account the fact that you played all 3 games.  I'm guessing you lost a lot of time on the last couple levels because you usually had so little firepower.  Sorry :S SDA can be a really tough crowd.

I have never played these three games so I have no concept of how well you did.  I don't know whether beating Contra 1 in 16 minutes is absolutely F___ing amazing or if a lot of people have done it (again, ignoring the other 2 games).  My guess is that you did pretty darn well.  It looks like you did.

I bet your video is an extremely good service to the fans of the series.  I wonder if SDA would ever accept an SS speedrun of a whole series?!  (probably not but they should)  I'd love to see andrewg play through Mario 1, 2 and 3 one after another, or someone do Sonic 1-3K.
I just like the games.
Yeah, of course i can do much better at contra 1 alone, but having to play for 1 hour is different than playing 15 minutes. You need to take into account the number of times I have restarted after being in super C or contra 3... It's not like I can restart contra everytime until i get it perfect because later on i'd lose it.

anyway, here's double dragon trilogy in 1 hour

No. There's no way to prove you're actually playing each game right after the other.

I just like the games.
unless with a judge

oops.. that's a way. Smiley
Existence as you know it is over
The judge would have to be in your house watching you play. Creepy.
I just like the games.
or i'd have to be at his house which is expensive. but at least it's different than no way Wink
I don't even know what the fuck this is
The judge could be a video camera.

FODA: That was a pretty cool Contra run, I saw it a while ago. None of the runs would be very impressive alone, but combined it was a fun run to watch.

This is a horrible statement.  I really don't even know how to respond to this right now.
I just like the games.
humm why is it horrible? it kind of is the truth
100% runs=great to watch
Kinda MASSIVELY denigrates all of the most legendary and good runs on this site.  Probably could've chosen better words to get your point across.
I just like the games.
I just said they are a great show of skills Tongue

And yeah, I prefer watching a TAS when i'm interested in a game, but that's personal opinion. Could've expressed better, sorry.

Hi! I'm andrewg!
" I'd love to see andrewg play through Mario 1, 2 and 3 one after another"

Yeah, with super mario all-stars, there are multiple games on one cart so you could go through super mario bros 1, 2, and 3 in a row. Maybe smb2j too. Would SDA accept something like this? I'd think it would be a pretty cool run.
Yeah, I would love to see that as well.
I HATE SDA!! (Kirby8943)
I thought you did very good on them.  Especially super contra.

Hi! I'm andrewg!
I cant view the video.

what was his superC time?

EDIT: nevermind, I got it to work.

If I do end up doing all the games on the super amrio all-star cart, do you think I should include the endings of each, or just stop immediately and exit out of the game?

Why does superC seem faster than normal? or somehow different?

maybe i'm wrong..
I would keep any actual ending sequences, but skip credits.
I just like the games.
It's normal speed... Maybe you're used to playing the US version using PAL timing on an emulator.

But youtube does have a problem with 30 hz flickering, some bullets won't show because the flicker matches the 15 fps of youtube.

FODA, do Mega Man 1 through 7 in a single segment.

Your run of the Double Dragon trilogy was cool.  But I'm going to have to agree with stanski about your run of the original Contra.  You died too many times, and you weren't even going that fast.  But, still, I really like this trilogy-running concept that you've initiated.

Keep in mind that beating a game as fast as humanly possible is a skill in and of itself, but I think I see where you're coming from.  Sometimes you want to show off by doing a little more than simply running through a game.  That's why I did my low% Contra run, which is basically me beating Contra without dying and without ever upgrading my weapon.  Though it's slower (obviously) than my "normal" Contra speedrun, I am a lot prouder of it than the latter.  I know which took more of my skill.

Yet not many people have downloaded it.  Sad
I just like the games.
I agree with you but i disagree at one point: nobody has speedrun a game as fast as possible, but some TAS "MIGHT" be the fastest possible (we'll never know for sure).
