Thats right with 2008 over I think its time to see whose the cream of the crop and whose the.... eh flop. You can only vote once and all runs/glitches/posts ect must have been submitted during 2008. You can post your votes here or feel free PM to keep the results secret.

What's that about? The SDA awards are somewhat of a tradition around here.

Yeah all this plus the fact that public votes will NEVER work because the majority of people actually don't know dick about speedrunning. Public voting means better/more popular games with decent runs will always get more votes than superior runs done on other games.

Yeah, I was done with SDA Awards with the fourth edition. It wasn't groobo and Kibbo's unsurprising opinions about them, but that I realized there was no way to ever get around the flaws of groupthink syndrome, the most popular games getting the most consideration for awards, and the hassle of organizing the things never came with much reward (usually more nagging from everyone).

I still want to do that SDA Retrospect thing I mentioned a little over a year ago, but I'm waiting on DRybes to respond with his opinion on the beta I PM'ed him about 3 months ago ...

How big a retrospective? You talking Metroid, Quake, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, SDA beginning until present?

I like the idea of recapping the year and having a panel of judges that see a lot of the runs judge the best-of. You can probably do something that you can also use at magfest. This place is becoming a little more established each year I think, and since magfest is an annual thing, a year in reflection is timed pretty conveniently.

I thought it was a good idea, that beta thing. I also thought i replied... guess not. I would assume you would continue working on it if I didn't say anything bad, so go for it... expand on the beta, post the thread, let people submit opinions and blocks of commentary, etc
