Yo yo yo homes. Update for people that use Youtube for showing strats and previews and stuff - they've removed the 15m30s time limit for accounts that haven't been flagged for copyright infringement or bad behaviour in the past.

I believe this only applies for existing accounts - new accounts would still be capped at 15m30s, and accounts with past strikes would still be 11m.

I'd assume there is a hard limit, but I don't really feel like making videos long enough to work out what it is.

Someone said they uploaded an hour with no trouble. I uploaded 30 minutes and it did ok.
Yeah, most of what we'd want to put up would be fine. Might not stretch to some of the RPG stuff, 10 hours etc.
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
strangely enough, i once had a video flagged with copyright infringement and i still got the unlimited extension. i deleted the vid long ago and haven't had any other notices ever since.

this is really nice since i can put my MKW run in my channel.

I didn't get any notification even though I never had a case of copyright infringement...
Not certain what the exact requirements are. You get the notification on the upload page.

I've got a 15 hour video in processing right now, so when that finishes (who knows?) we'll know I suppose. I seriously doubt anyone here's going to go near that, let alone higher.
Obscure games ftw
No limit on YT?
Awesome, good thing I made my account a few months ago...
Now I won't have to split the recordings.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I tried to upload a 6 hour video and it was rejected due to length.

My name is unpronounceable
This is the longest I've come across.  I'd imagine that the video quality has something to do with how long it is.

Incorrect. My limit has been removed even though I have been flagged for copyright infringement from an evil company™ for invoking fair use.
Nevertheless, very nice move. This will save me a lot of time and annoyance.

Au contraire, a 10 hour movie can be at 4Mbit/s and total under 20GB, so quality shouldn't be an issue for all but the highest resolutions.
Visually Appealing
I got the extension, but one of my videos is blocked in Germany.
Nice christmass present from YouTube. I uploaded 7 hours of material today, just because I can. Bwahahahaha...cough...cough... But seriously, it's a great move that might kill off all competition, but it sure will make it easier for lazy people like me, to get around upping stuff.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Seems like most people that wanted to upload larger videos just chopped it up before, so I don't see how much of a change this would really make.

As a note, my 6 hour video was 1.9 GB. I'm going to contact YouTube support and try other lengths when I have more time.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I was able to upload a 1:50:28, but my 5:58:16 video is still being rejected due to length. The longer video is actually smaller in size, so that shouldn't be an issue. I wonder if each account has a different limit.
Sorry to bump an old topic, but the Youtube account has to be fairly active in order to qualify for a time removal. I checked out one of my accounts which had only one video, it wasn't upgraded. I check my other Youtube account with 36 videos and it was upgraded.
This is still merely speculation. Apparently YouTube can remove upload limits at will, too, and for apparently no reason.
The staff at YT just aren't forthcoming about this.
Wiiaboo
Yeah, the upgrade threshold seems to be a little arbitrary. I have 20 videos, well over 1000 total views on my videos, and I still have the 15 minute limit. I really hope that changes by the time I get an hour-long SS to post.

I had just one video with maybe 50 views, and i had my upload limit removed with the first wave. From what i can tell, it really is random.

I lost my unlimited time upload  Sad
From various sources, if you uploaded a lengthy video and got rejected for being too long, if you remove it when you have the unlimited time perk, apparently you lose it.

Some sources say that you can get the perk back by uploading the same amount of videos before reciving perk... in my case thats 390+ videos!

So if that is true then I will probably upload 400x 1-2 second clips of my Shadow Complex speed run....
That's not likely to be true, though, is it?
Stand: Devil's Call in your Heart
that's a weird way to lose the unlimited time thingy.

just as a curiosity, how long was the vid?
DS Dictator
The video I tried to upload today was 31:49

I've only been reading through some of the many posts of the same subject and a few of them were saying about uploading a certain amount of videos.

Here's one of them:

I've attempted to upload a slightly less than 6 hour video over the past months (deleting them when they get rejected for being too long), and still be able to upload 1 - 2 hour long videos.

Edit: After reading the link, sounds like it has to do with deleting old videos and not with videos that were rejected due to length.
Exoray
Maybe you just went under the threshold, whatever that amount is at.
