Thread title:
Welcome new galaxy!
Really good post, I tried making a thread about this game, but they locked it ^^. This is way better and I think it's about time to start to talk about speed runs. I don't have the game, and won't until like Christmas (earlier if I'm lucky), cause my Wii just got broke and it's on its way to Nintendo. I think it's a bit early to start saying that there will be no sequence breaking, I think that was what they were saying when Super Mario 64. Lots of glitches still remains unfound..

Well, sorry for my bad english XD
The game just came out today and you're already talking about running it?

I'm going to smack you.
CTTR Master and Spyro 2 Master
In america it came out yesterday. Also if I'm mistaken it's still out so discussion can go on.

He played the Japanese Import which was released, what, two weeks ago?

Small note, it's very easy to grab the star "A snack of cosmic proportions" (Star 2 of Egg Planet/Good Egg Galaxy) without collecting the blue star shards on the final star-shaped platform/planet.  Just do a double jump and spin in mid-air, you'll be able to grab it.  You're still doing a bit of flying around and collecting though, but it does save a good bit of time.

I can't stop the discussion...it justs disgusts me that it happens with a game that's barely even a day old (in english speaking countries). Its just a pet peeve of mine is all...
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Oh the horror, people discussing speed running strategies on a speed running forum. What will I ever do?

This game is terrible and I beat it way too fast. Thank god it only took me a day to beat so that I could take it back to the store afterwards. Why nintendo continues to put out terrible games and people continue to beat them I will have no idea, but in any case, i think this will make a terrible game to speedrun, just like super paper mario.

Yeah what he said except the exact opposite of everything.

In addition to the long jump, spining in mid-air (backflip gets good height) will lead to certain things.
I've managed to clip into an unimportant wall while like gliding as a helicopter so you never know.

Yeah, I said it.
Going from planet to planet in the quest for a star works like connect-the-dots. The only way to get from planet to planet is to unlock Launch Stars along the way, which means completing various objectives. Also, Mario is far less mobile than he was in SM64; turn-around jumps get a fraction of the horizontal distance that they used to, wall-jumps can't be angled quite like they used to be, and even centering the camera behind Mario makes him stop briefly.

I love the game so far, it's a blast to play. But it doesn't look like it will endear itself well to most of the speedrunners here. I'll have more concrete opinions once I finish the game.

Hi! I'm andrewg!
I played eithe the real game or the demo in a store today. It was alright, but I didn't seem to have control over it like I did in super mario 64.

Did they even add any different moves?
Golden Sun FTW!!!
Nice post. I'd say it's never to early to start a new game thread if you've got good info, which you do. I don't have the game, so I can't help you much, but I just thought I'd show my appreciation  Grin

here's a neat trick I found while messing around in Beach Bowl Galaxy:

o i c.
Nice trick, Paraxade. I've got the game so I'm going to try and find some stuff in it, with hope. I look forward to seeing some more awesome videos. Smiley
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Played through it casual 61 stars, took a little less than 8 hours. Lots of interesting tricks to be found I think, look forward to a run.
here's another obvious trick in Freezeflame's Blistering Core:

It's-a me, Stalin!
I want to run this game. I'm getting it friday.

Count me in.  8)
Nice finds, Paraxade. SMG comes out in Europe this Friday, and I'll start looking for stuff as well. I've been waiting for this game for SO long.

I'm definitely interested in doing a run for Super Mario Galaxy. Don't know when I'll be getting it though.
um... shouldn't you actually play the game before deciding to do a run of it?

I don't see that in the rules. 8) I'll reword my original post.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Not sure if anyone has figured this out already, but you can run up some slopes while constantly spinning whenever possible. It seems to push back the amount of time before Mario falls on to his belly.
Join Club Nintendo today Mac!
It turns out you don't need all of the grand stars to unlock the final area.  Beating the second Bowser level and having 60 stars is enough to open the final level.  So in a 61 star run the last Bowser Jr. stage can be skipped.
