Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
That's a weird glitch with the tile game. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Rdrunner drops down near the Baboon Balloon pad, on Cranky's side. I imagine the best thing to do there would be to crouch and slide off; then, if you miss the ledge with the warp, you can do a backflip to try to land on it.

I actually wasn't wondering how to do it. The issue for me was that I could make the jump from both places. Dropping from near the Baboon Balloon pad is pretty much automatic for me. Jumping from near Crankys is 4-5 seconds faster but carries a 10-15% chance of missing due to camera issues. I just wanted to make sure that I was getting down at least as fast as he did in his run.

Edit: I figured out how to break into the Library backdoor with DK!!! After c-up glitching from the castle top I make DK parallel to the wall(while also embedded in it) then quickly turn to the right, crouch, roll and jump all in one quick move. I need to check but a variation of this might work for a no Chimpy Charge Aztec Lobby early.
I finally have a legitamate final time estimate for this. For now my plan is to get 7:20(test run was 7:29) and go from there but I suspect it could easily end up in the 7:10-7:15 range but that may be me being too optimistic about my ability to avoid mistakes in whatsoever essentially t 7hr single segment run(stupid  autosave system).
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
That sounds good. I'm still very much looking forward to this run even though I haven't been posting about it.
Finally got Aztec Early w/o chimpy charge. Cheesy Going to see if I can get a video now.

Furthermore, I'm practicing for a Single Segment w/ Savewarps run for SDA. Still fiddling about with the route and what tricks I want to include. Right now I don't have any good times, but I'm slowly practicing everything (right now, Aztec early).

Manocheese: How much time does exiting/re-entering mad jack save, if you remember? I might cut that, if that saves only a few seconds. Also, any tips for baboon blast skip? That and Aztec Early are two tricks I really need to get more consistant at as they save quite a bit of time.
I for one am interested in the new Aztec lobby early. Is it easier or harder than the chimpy charge version.

As far as time saved skipping Mad Jack cutscene goes if you do the c-up glitch well I think its 10+ seconds. Personally I can get through the stairs with everyone except DK so I use it.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Nice find. I look forward to the video.

Exiting and entering Mad Jack saves around 15 seconds. I just timed that part of my run and I saved 3 seconds, even though I did a pretty bad job. I recommend skipping the cutscene.

For the Baboon Blast skip, make sure you're glitching off the bottom of the fourth blue tile from the top, like I do in my run. Also, make sure you have as little momentum perpendicular to the wall as possible.

Anyways, I'm getting baboon blast skip way more now. I still need to work on my consistancy at a lot of things, but I have the potential to do every trick first try now except for one...Aztec Early. This is still mega inconsistant for me...if anyone can find some good tricks for it that would be really helpful. If Chimpy Charge makes it significantly easier, I would be willing to spend 20 extra seconds for that. Once I figure out whether I'm getting CC or not, I'll draft up a route.

Yes I know, double post, bad, bad, but this is a significant ammount of information that warrants a bump:

So, after asking in irc, it seems like this run will be timed according to the game clock, which means no penalty for savewarps (pretty much like segmented, only without retrying sections like moonkick to Caves). My personal goal will be to optimize game time first and foremost, but have optimizing real time as a secondary goal. This means no savewarps that save 2 game seconds at the cost of 25 real seconds, because these are not significant enough to drop the game time to the next minute down.
Calculating it out based on manocheese’s run, a mid :47 seems like the final time. :46 looks doubtful, so unless that changes when I get closer to my goal time, I feel it will only make the run look better to cut out the smaller savewarps (the two or three I’m thinking of probably save 5-10 game seconds combined at the cost of around 1:30 real time).
Playing around with reset warps, however, I’ve found some interesting stuff. For instance, when you buy something, as soon as you hit A the game autosaves. Resetting eliminates ~15-20 seconds of learning the move and exiting the shop afterwards (varies depending on shop, character, and if there is another move to buy). This means that learning Rocketbarrel Boost (and with it, Chimpy Charge) in the training area is barely slower than learning it in Aztec where you can’t skip the cutscene.
Unfortunately, there is no way to reset to skip the first K. Lumsy cutscene, which would save a lot of time.
Sketch of a route below, still trying to decide on exact routes / coin routes:
1. FWG (I re-timed this w/ cutscene skipping, it is still faster to use the weapons glitch).
2. Cranky, training barrels, stvw escape, banana camera, savewarp asap (you can actually savewarp before finishing shockwave, saves somewhere around 16-18 seconds since it gives you crystal coconuts)
3. Head to K. Lumsy, to Jape, Golden Banana, switches (maybe coin, switch route will change since don’t need to fight first boss), reset after freeing diddy (saves about 14 seconds)
4. Rainbow coin on way up, Kick to Crystal Caves, break in, activate w2 by Aztec, take w2 back, tag diddy and re-enter training grounds, buy simian slam, chimpy charge, cs reset for rocketbarrel boost (saves about 40 seconds of cs/traveling back, after subtracting a bit for re-tag diddy)
5. Tag Diddy, take warp 2, Aztec early (ugh), tag DK, enter Aztec, activate far w1, guitar skip, clip into llama temple, free lanky w/ deathwarp cs skip, re-enter aztec, take w1, get rainbow coin and tag diddy, to temple and free Tiny, reset after she is freed (needed because of Aztec Early)
6. Tag Diddy, factory early (activate w4), down to lower level (I’ll see if I can get switch skip consistant), free Chunky, Mad Jack w/ Chunky, buy Chunky stuff, buy Tiny stuff, buy Lanky stuff and reset to skip cutscene (cs skip alone saves 23 seconds…if I were to fight Mad Jack as Tiny in addition to the 10 second backtrack I’d need lose a move-learning cs skip...no way pony tail twirl saves ~33 seconds over just Chunky.
7. Tag Tiny, take w4, monkeyport, helm saga, resetting after key 8 (needed to skip shutting down blast-o-matic)
8. Swim to K. Lumsy, turn in keys 3/8, swim to K. Rool, defeat him
Good luck with this RingRush.

Doing a run wifh all those tricks and then adding Aztec Lobby early would be a very impressive feat. At least the aztec lobby break-in wont be more than five hours in like the easier but still very tricky library break-in.
I've been thinking about running the No Major Skips category for this game, and I'd really like to get a final decision on what constitutes a major skip in this game before I start working on the route. I've looked through the past few pages and all I've seen are ideas of what the definition could be.
Good God ING-X, how many games do you plan on running?
Well regardless I'm exited to see these runs.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Looks good, RingRush (without actually testing it). Have you timed the route I suggested in this post? I'm not sure if it's faster or not.

Ing: Here's what the game page says:

Quote:
A run that uses the following tricks is considered a major skips run: Hideout Helm early; K. Rool early; and glitching into boss fights.

The definition came from this post, which reflected what I believed to be the consensus on major skips.

ING-X: 2011-03-28 01:13:40 pm
So Funky Weapons Glitch isn't considered a major skip then?

EDIT: This route is obviously going to be a major pain in the ass to figure out and write; does anyone have any ideas to help (i.e. which 100 GBs are fastest)?

Correct. It will make the run new game+, though.

Rdrunner's run might be a good place to start, although it was made before many glitches were known. I think the best thing to do would be to make a list of every GB, then put an X next to the ones that will definitely be too slow (e.g. DK's minecart ride in Creepy Castle) and put an O next to the ones you will definitely get (e.g. the one outside the Japes lobby). Then, start coming up with level routes that collect a "good" number of GBs from each level. You'll need an average of about 14 GBs per level. Pay attention to situations where you can skip a whole section of a level or a certain move. Also, don't forget to incorporate small bananas into the route, since you can't glitch into boss fights. There will be a lot of changes to the route as you add or take away GBs and small bananas, so don't set anything in stone.

TOTAL: 100

(Credit goes to Jeffrey Freedman on GameFAQs for the checklist I used to make this)

I'll be editing this list as I add/remove more GBs.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
As you seem to have realized by your edit, that list isn't 100% accurate, so be careful with it. I went through the checklist (link) and picked out some more GBs that might be worth getting. I don't have my guides with me, so if I didn't remember a GB or couldn't figure out which one it was, I skipped it. I couldn't remember whether certain GBs were in bonus barrels (most of which should be skipped), so I may have listed some that should be removed later. I tried to only list GBs that weren't in your list.

DK Isles

DK's BP

Jungle Japes

DK's Barrel Blast GB
DK's BP
Diddy's GB by Funky (glitch through wall)
Diddy's BP
Tiny's GB behind gate (with STVW)
Chunky's cave GB
Chunky's BP

Angry Aztec

DK's sand tunnel GB (don't need Strong Kong)
DK's BP
Tiny's llama temple lava room GB
Chunky's vase GB
Chunky's cage GB (glitch in)

Frantic Factory

DK's counting GB
DK's GB in power shack
DK's GB in crushing tunnel
DK's BP

Lanky's ice cube GB
Lanky's sprinting GB (not beetle race)
Lanky's BP

Take out breaking the ice dome with Chunky IMO.

Creepy Castle

This level has some GBs that seem out of the way, but may not be because of how many small bananas you need. I left most of those out.

DK's library GB
Diddy's Sniper Sight GB
Diddy's GB at top of level
Diddy's BP
Lanky's greenhouse GB
Lanky's crypt GB
Tiny's crypt GB

Alright ING I have some suggestions.

Jungle Japes
- Diddys in cage by Funkys. Chimpy Charge through wall.
- Chunkys blueprint.
- Chunkys GBA near blueprint.
- Tinys in small tree stump.
- Both Hunky Chunky GB'S beyond feather switch gate.

Aztec suggestions
Not sure here do you plan to just free the kongs and never come back.

Factory Suggestions.
- Turn factory power on.
- Diddy/lanky factory room.
- DK factory room and blueprint
- Lankys storage room bonus barrel game.
- Tinys storage room shooting game.

Galleon suggestions.
- Chunkys cannon game.
- Smash the chest with chunky.
- Lanky 2 door ship.
- Lanky five door ship.
- DK five door ship.
- Lankys from enguarde crate.

Fungi Forest suggestions.
- Chunkys shooting game atop giant mushroom.
- Chunkys blueprint
- Lankys GB from one of the doors atop the giant mushroom(the one where you bounce off a mushroom to get it.
- Diddys GB in the cage. Use STVW.
- Diddys dark room GB.
- Lankys GB from attic of windmill shed.
- DK's GB in the windmill shed. Use the glitch to skip pulling the levers.

Caves suggestions.
- Lankys blueprint.
- DK ice maze.
- Chunky 5 room igloo.
- Diddy 5 room igloo.
- Tiny 5 room igloo.
- Chunky 5 room shed.
- Diddy 5 room shed(light the candles).
- Tiny 5 room shed.

Castle suggestions
- DK library. By the time you finish planning I will probably have the ability to make a video of library break-in.
- Lanky greenhouse maze.
- Chunky room by greenhouse.
- Tiny garbage can.
- Tiny Crypt.
- Lanky crypt.
- Diddy crypt(25 bananas for doing this.
- Tiny blueprint.
- Diddy blueprint.
- Diddy ballroom(55 bananas including Tiny.
- Tiny car race. Doesnt take that long and youll probably need the bananas on the path to it.
- DK and Lanky dungeon. Probably Diddy to.

Just off the top of my head those seem like fairly good ideas but these still only bring the total to 88. I'm just used to getting them all instead of worrying about how much time they take to get.

Edit: Responding to manocheese.
- Im pretty sure Lankys piano game is to long.
- Diddy atop block tower is a bonus barrel.
- The Tiny bonus barrel in the castle is a Teetering Turtle Trouble which cant be made shorter by playing well.
- DK's GB in the sand tunnel is a bonus barrel which also requires either hitting the switch in the llama temple or a long OoB.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I can make a video of the library glitch if you describe how to do it.
Library glitch is pretty similar to Aztec lobby early but much easier. You have to c-up clip off the top of the castle to the left of Snides so you land to the left of the library backdoor. Then point yourself parallel to the wall(half oob/ half in.) then start walking and immediately start rolling. Immediately after beginning your roll jump into the loading zone.
Wouldn't getting DK's blueprint require massive backtracking to go give snide the blueprint? Or are you allowed to glitch into Helm as long as you get 100 golden bananas at some point?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
You're right, I forgot about that. You aren't allowed to glitch into Helm.

Library glitch
Updated the banana list. We now have 91 bananas out of 100 that I need.
Edit history:
leftysheroes: 2011-03-29 09:27:54 pm
Alright ING lets see if I can find 9 more bananas to suggest.

- Chunkys GB from helm lobby bonus barrel. Game is kremling kosh aka a pretty fast one. You do need to hit the gorillz gone to make it appear but after finishing you can use an otange to damage boost over to B Locker.
- If you plan to activate the rocketbarrel by forest Diddys bonus barrel(peril path panic aka easy and fast) is a good idea. You can even use the rocketbarrel to skip the banana get cutscene for the cage GB.
- Diddy's GB on top of stump by snides in jungke japes.
- Tinys factory banana in tunnel near DK Arcade.
- Chunkys factory banana in the room behind the primate punch gate in the room you free Chunky in.
- Diddys galleon blueprint. Kasplat can be killed fast consistently even with high water level.
- Tinys galleon blueprint.
- DK's giant mushroom banana in forest. You have to get to the top somehow. Either this or Diddys bonus barrel above it.
- In caves you should get both Diddy 5 room shed bananas.
- I think I agree with manocheese about Diddys caves bonus barrel. Im pretty sure its a mad maze maul which is pretty fast( even after all the time I've played this I still dont know whats in every barrel for sure since theres so many of them.).
- Chunky beaver bother and DK's blueprint in castle mainly since you'll most likely need the bananas.
- If you plan on freeing Tiny first in Aztec you can c-up glitch into the lava room with her GB in the llama temple. This would make Lankys blueprint a possibility as well even in a one trip Aztec.

Obviously theres more than 9 there, I'll let you make the choices. It's pretty likely the list will change later due to regular banana needs. Ironically, I will collect less regular bananas in 101% castle than you in the NMS.

Manocheese: You actually can get into the DK section of the factory room w/o turning the power on but iirc you cant do anything while inside. You have to jump down from pretty far above and hit one of the angled textures above the door.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
The main reason I didn't put Chunky's Beaver Bother or DK's blueprint from Castle into my list is because you have to open the tree to get to those. This might be okay for DK's blueprint since you can go right in after playing the Barrel Blast, but for Chunky, it would take a lot of time since you'd need to open the tree and come back later. There's also the time needed to beat the minigame.
