Sup guys. Got a 2:51:43 (Japanese RTA timing) a bit ago. Through 4 worlds..... was on WR pace. Then the last 2 world's and extras really got me. Coulda been 2:48:xx with decent world 6 and extras. Regardless, having a blast competing against Carl, Trihex, and the Japanese runners. Also nice to have many more people pick this game up.
Got 2:49:17 (Japanese RTA timing) a bit ago. So many mistakes in this run. World 6 bonuses are just incredibly hard to avoid. Also there's now 3 US players (Carl, Trihex, Zewing) that subbed 2:50:00 and only 1 Japanese player. So...... we're coming for you Kaede.
In case you guys haven't been keeping up with the Yoshi's Island 100% scene.....me, Carl Sagan, and Trihex have been doing 100% IL's. Here are the improvements that have been made to the IL table as of October 19, 2012.
As you can see IL's are becoming a bit more popular. I guarantee all my times will be beaten by either Carl or Trihex. Sorry if my video quality sucks. Expect to see more. Also all these IL's were gotten since September 18 up to today.
Hi everyone, lots of new ILs are coming out lately. I've been really trying to refine every level for AGDQ, so expect a bunch more from me soon. Trihex and Zewing both has been going at it as well.
Here's an update on possibly making any% w/warps a competitive category soon.
This was done by Vultuz and is entirely new method for 1-1 warping.
The second method was discovered in 5-4 a while ago by Arnethegreat and is THE GREATEST 1-1 WARP EVER.
First part is TAS strat and 2nd is RTA strat. For those who don't know 5-4...there's this long ass autoscroller and then a boss fight you have to do. This skips about 3ish minutes.
Fastest any% warpless is approximately a 1:49:xx. Using these warps it seems 1:44:xx is possible with warps. If we discover all RTA possible warps it may go lower.
I'd like to say congrats to Carl Sagan for his great run at AGDQ 2013. Representin the yoshi crew. Also Kaede got a 2:43:44 so new time to beat. Also shoutouts to AGDQ raising 420K.
Hello YI crew! I'm new to the whole speedrunning scene, and I've been entranced with both trihex's and Swagan's Yoshi's Island runs from the past few AGDQs, plus seeing all the other media around the game that's popped up these past few years.
I'm (obviously) pretty crap at moving quick, but hell, anything's possible with practice! As a newbie, are there any sort of guides or information that I can read up on?
I'd love to, but the wireless network in my school doesn't allow IRC clients to connect. I've been trying to find a work-around, but I haven't found anything yet.
