So I recently saw a guy speedrunning an old NES game and I clicked on a link to this website. I looked at the ps1 gamelist and didn't see alot of games I remember playing. Why is there not a speedrun for every single game? Should I try to speedrun less known games such as Muppet Race mania or Digimon rumble arena? What do I need to do on those to get on the game list? I checked FAQ and all but I don't find it clear enough Smiley

Because not every game is as speedrunnable as the others.

Hello Digilychee and welcome to Speed Demos Archive.  We hope you enjoy your stay. Cheesy

It could be said that the reason why there isn't a speed run for every game is because there hasn't been anyone who has done a speed run for that game.  Still, if there is a game you want to speed run, by all means go for it.

As for the submittion, is it actually quite simple.  If and when you complete your run, you would need to contact the Admin Puwexil (if you look on the right side, you will see him under the green text).  When you message him, be sure to provide him with the following:

USE THIS TEMPLATE FOR SUBMISSIONS:
First 'Nickname' Last
Game Title (Console) [NTSC/PAL]
Category Completion Date (yyyy-mm-dd)
Time [hh:mm:ss] (Encoded by me/nate)
Comments attached/ included in the body of the email.

EXAMPLE:
Michael 'Flip' Dix
Super Mario Bros. (NES) [NTSC]
SS run with warps finished 2012-01-31
[00:04:55] (Encoded by me)
Comments attached

Once you do that, Puwexil will explain the rest of the steps.  There is alot that goes into a submittion, but this at least gets you started.

Best of luck to you if you decide to do speed runs.

Right. SDA isn't going to take a run for a game where skill and planning do not make the game go any faster.  Like Gradius or DDR.

But yeah, mostly the issue is that most games just haven't had a run submitted for them.  Which happens in part because of SDA's tough requirements:

- No emulators
- No hardware hacks to make the game faster/controller mash better/etc
- High quality recording (YouTube and Twitch won't cut it)
- Must pass verification (checks the above, plus the quality level of the run itself.  An unpolished run with too many issues with routing and execution will be rejected even if there's no run on site for the game)

It's not a trivial thing, but the forums are here to help.

You can and should post test recordings in the Tech forum to get help to make sure your recording setup is correct.

You can and should post a thread in the appropriate forum for planning your run, and post your best runs to date, showing what you're doing and how you're doing it.

Streaming live attempts can help, too!

Also, search the Internet (Twitch, Youtube, Nico Nico Douga) for existing runs.  Check TASVideos for information about your game.

Take these steps, and take the advice you get in these threads, and you should have no problem getting runs onto SDA.

This.  We've had threads posted in the generic gaming discussion board that got almost no activity, then moved them to the correct console forum and had saw them pick up significantly.  Not everyone reads every board every time they visit the site. Smiley
