Hello everyone !
I want to present you this new indie game called Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth. It went out 8th April 2016, and run under Unity. It's an action/adventure game with RPG elements.
There is a lot of speedrun potential in this game; cutscenes can be skipped, no required trigger to continue, almost no invisible walls, movements are fast, and many more.
You'll see this in a short video I uploaded to show the beginning route I created so far, which express quite well the speedrun potential :

For some reason, I have to die, quit to menu and reload at 4:43, to get a slightly better jump which allows me to execute upcoming skips.

I didn't beat the game yet so I don't know how long the overall run will last.
There is a lot of stuff to figure out and to create !

Wow, can't believe I missed that first Snoring Creature & Training Halls Boss skip.
That is a great route for the Forest Temple & a bizarre find about the extra jump from a death reload.
I was planning to go Buried Pyramid Temple first
Though that Buried Pyramid boss is a real jerk without health pick-ups.

Twikax, when you say 'cutscenes can be skipped', do you mean there is a button trigger or menuing or is it by running around triggers like the first Snoring Creature skip?
I meant dialogs can be skipped using 'E' and some cutscene with 'SpaceBar'. I don't know yet about menuing.

Angrevol and I played through the game for like 6 hours today and found a crap ton of glitches & some skips including the Buried Pyramid Gate skip above.

Probably get to explaining in length/recording them in the future but one useful neat glitch is crouch jumping.

If you press jump quickly after pressing crouch, then your character will jump while in a crouch. When landed your character will do a fake short hop and this means that you have the Crouch Jump Glitch activated. This state gets removed if you jump/fall off somewhere and probably some other instances. If you slide while in this state you will get stuck at the end of the slide animation unless you press attack. This has a million different effects and can be used in cool ways to attack while moving, have a rock be stuck to you, and other fun things.

The best effect is if you get into a Crouch Jump Glitch state and then slide off a ledge. If you hold forward and keep mashing slide you will essentially keep dashing through the air while falling. This air dashing is pretty neat and can cross some decent distances if you start high up.

(Oh and super fun glitch: While you hold a rock in your hand simply walk into water and drown. You will respawn underneath the map and stuck to the rock. If you walk off a ledge while in this state your character jumps out at the Z-position they are at meaning this can probably clip you into stuff in certain places)

(And another fun one: slide onto small planks that make you walk slow and jump. You will fly off at like 8x normal speeds. Super fun and useful to cross distances)

There's a lot of other stuff, but we're tired and probably I'll write up the rest when I feel like it (If I never end up doing it, just mess around with the above glitches and realize that rocks are really broken, you'll find a lot yourself)

Oh and you can also skip the sword training in the intro by using rocks in corners to climb up and skip the barriers. You just need to use the rocks to climb the walls and get into the water to trigger the cutscene to progress.

Fun screenshot of what's possible with messing around enough (and you can move around in this state) : http://i.imgur.com/WXk7147.png
Warden Developer
G'day!

I'm one of the lead devs on Warden and I am really pleased you guys are having a good time with it.
You've already shown so many routes I didn't think were possible.

I hope to put up a speedrun myself of the game, but I don't think I'll be able to do all the routes you guys have found xD

Regarding bug fixes, anything that is obvious to a casual player we'll be fixing. That includes the door in the sewer Mud fight. (Sorry, can't have it open and clipping like that)
We'll leave wall jumping skips and the like in as most players won't think to do it and it's really quite impressive that you guys can do it!

Hope you guys keep at at and can find a way to beat my pre-release time of just under 2 hrs. That run was to make sure the game worked Tongue And doesn't really do too many actual skips (As it was more about QA than speed)

Keep me posted, keen to see what you guys do.

Hey Agile, nice to see more devs spend time in the speedrunning community, just don't fix too much stuff alright? Wink
Am also interested in this game and can't wait to see what else can be found.
Nice to see you here Agile !
I think you'll not be disappointed with all the skips we can discover and create !
These are my routes for 3 crystals :

And this is also a small improvement (10-20 seconds) for tutorial :

So with those strats, bosses (RNG may be really annoying tho), and final part (which is also full of shortcuts), the run should last arround 30 minutes !
I think it's possible to skip the first crystal at the very least since after beating the pyramid we had both crystals afterwards. Might be possible to just get the 3rd.

Here's videos for some of the more useful/interesting stuff we found:

And here's a fun video for getting a sword early in the intro and breaking a lot of stuff:

So due to feedback we are trying out removing weapons clanging off walls.
Seems you guys use that to gain extra jump? Tell me what you think come the next patch.

I almost wonder if it's too easy to speedrun through the game haha Tongue

@Agilethief We now need to kill one Mudman and few Skeletons to finish the game D:
Everything can be skip in Final climb, I timed it arround 3:20 to get to the final boss, I'll post the route tonight. Also the update add some time to the pyramid level (about 3 minutes).
Also I figured out the jump height get lower when you change character for the first time. The only way to get back the original jump height is to die with Tavian and reload the game.

EDIT :
Generally, speedrunners play on the fastest patch. Since this patch likely adds minutes to the time, we'll likely end up running on the release version.

Is there any way to get a hold of the first release version of the game?
Anybody still running this game? i just got into it and im practicing my beggining route and im almost reaching under 5mins to get to the guy trapped in the stick cage.
