There is no "European mail". Europe is not like the USA where mail is delivered by one company (the one you gave your package to). If you want to complain, do so about the country which has screwed up but don't bitch about "European mail" in common.

Wayyyyy off topic.

Congratulations to Mr. Potter! Great run!

Saw it yesterday.  Great job, Paraxade!

Just finished watching this.
Shaving off like 7-10 minutes from BIT is more than amazing, but the true beauty of this run comes the fact that all the little dozens of couple seconds~1 minute optimizations add up to more than 20 minutes of time saving.
Outstanding job Paraxade! Please keep up your high standards for any future upcoming runs. Smiley
BiT doesn't save 7-10 minutes. I think logitech was saying 5 minutes before, but I kinda doubt it's even that much. Dunno for sure though... it's about 15 minutes saved outside BiT from optimization and the new tricks I found. Anyway, thanks Tongue

Paraxade is right. BiT doesn't save 5 minutes. If I had to guess now, I'd say 4:25 at most. I was looking back at some of the stuff I posted regarding timing to see if it appeared accurate or not.

http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/twilight_princess_gcn2038.html
2:16 saved

http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/twilight_princess_gcn2063.html
I realized I had timed BiT wrong in that last page. So an extra 0:15 saved. Skipping taming Epona = 2 minutes saved. Riding to twilight wall after clearing Forest temple = 0:10 saved.
2:16 + 0:15 + 2 + 0:10 = 4:41

subtract about 0:16 from getting the orange rupee in the next room after Darkhammer
total = 4:25 saved

Not sure how accurate this is lol. There are probably a couple of other things I missed with the timing.

Also still trying to get get into Lakebed with no zora, no rupee dive. I still think it's possible. It would save time in a single segment with resets run, but would probably be way too risky unless there is an easier way found. Clipping that wall without zora armor seems difficult enough as is. To get into Lakebed before drowning, clipping the wall would have to be done almost instantly.

Well pot(paraxade in case you don't remember that nickname), you've really outdone yourself this time. I'm about to watch your run. If I start now I'll be finished like 6 am though.... if not later.

Anyway I'm amazed by the fact that the game has been pushed down to about three hours. It's amazing.

Oh yeah, hi, by the way. Figured I'd stop by since I just picked up TP again.
Wow, Paraxade, can't wait until they make it official!
Great job!

idk why no one's said it yet, but a lot of time saved in segmented over SS (besides BiT and the obvious fact that you get an infinite amount of tries) is that you can save warp a lot.

I can't really give any estimates on how much time he could've saved from save warping, but I imagine it's a decent chunk of time.

I've been thinking of doing a SS w/ resets run of this game, and have been playing through the segmented route (without rupee dive obviously). I'm still having trouble with a lot of tricks (sword and shield skip, early master sword, and freezard skip come to mind), but I can see myself getting good at this game with a bit of practice and advice from really good players. I've been wondering, though, where all the savewarps would be in a SS with resets run. I know a lot of the saves in the segmented are simply to split segments and not necessarily to savewarp to save time, so it'd be nice to have a list of the savewarp locations.

because I think we're all comparing my run to other segmented runs, not the SS... TpFox has 3:15 on the last segment, would've been 3:26 or so if he finished.

SS with resets...to do BiT, after boomerang, after spinner, after double clawshots. There might be a couple of other savewarp spots that would save time.

Ah, ok, thanks. What would be a good expected time for a SS w/ resets run for TP? I'm guessing something around 3:30 on GCN would be submittable?

3:30 doesn't seem possible. Assuming SS with resets saves 10 minutes (might save less than that), the best possible time would be about 3:34.

I've been having a lot of problems with king bulblin with bombs, I have no idea how to time the bomb pull out + throw, and following logitech's video doesn't help me much. Can anyone explain how to reliably time the bomb? I know it's still random whether or not he actually gets hit by it, but I'd like to be able to time the bomb in such a way that it's possible to hit him.

The only marker Rob really showed me was to pull it (for the cycles after the first go, since at the start you are closer to bublin and thus pull it earlier, but idk exactly where) out when you get to the third arch on the sides of the bridges (he tends to ride close to the archs to make it easier to tell), though as he said in his stream apparently for bublin's last phase you want to pull it a tiny bit later (I'm guessing since he swerves he approaches a little slower). On that note, if you feel you pulled a bomb too late, you can turn left and right to slow yourself down and give the bomb more time to burn the fuse up or whatever.

You generally want to aim so it blows up right INSIDE his stomach (emphasis of being like right in his core), though rob's told me sometimes he has hit him from like the sides of him, and sometimes bombs will just blow up right inside him with no results.

Bublin forever dawurs.

Is bokoblin pushing any easier than BiT? IIRC Pheenoh said it was a lot easier than BiT, and I'm not sure if I can handle failing BiT for 45 minutes straight every time i reset the game (first cycle in MM was already bad enough). If bokoblin pushing is easier than BiT I might just do SS without resets instead of with resets, since the run is already really hard enough.

For me, BiT is a lot easier. Just press on the D-pad at the height of your jump and reset with the controller. The timing gets easier with practice. Look at it this way. Even if you have a hard time getting BiT, it is only like one minute into a run. Just restart your run a few times until you get it. No bokoblin pushing, no taming epona, can reset after boomerang, spinner, double clawshots.

Yeah, I tried BiT today and got it within 5 minutes (I tried bokoblin pushing a little beforehand and it was the worst shit I've ever tried in my life), so I'll definitely be doing that.

Logitech, do you have AIM/MSN/Skype/whatever? I'd like to be able to get help with certain things (sword and shield skip comes to mind) in real time, and almost no one I talk to on IRC knows anything about TP Sad
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I finally got a chance to watch this run today. Incredible job; there were tons of tricks in there, and they all seemed to go very smoothly. The battles were very fast too. My favorite part was probably segment 33 because of all the speedy clawshotting and LJAs. I also liked the part in Lakebed where the slime jumped through the hoop. Tongue

I have msn. I sent you an invite.
Glad you managed to produce a great speed run before Skyward Sword came out. Once it comes out, I won't really care that much for a TP run, but would want to see a SS run instead.

I have a question regarding timing.  If I wanted to change my lock on type to switch at the very beginning of the game (before I moved or did anything else), would this count in my time?

Timing starts once you gain control so it would add to your time.
The twilight princess disc arrived btw and Ive played it a few hours every day for the past 1 and a half weeks.
I cant seem to get back into it though. Ill give it another week.
If by then I'm still not motivated to work on it I will put it on hold for the time being since I dont want to produce crappy segments just because i don't feel like playing the game.
Hope you guys understand.

Let me know if there's anything that could be improved on (I know I wasn't very specific on a lot of things; I'm not very good at being specific when writing routes for games that I'm not yet 100% comfortable with).
