Seems like keeping the forest checkpoint and resetting only for fire area to forest and not both chest and fire to ruins is still better, i had probably timed it badly.
Otherwise, got an amazing run earlier, only slow points are ruins checkpoint, 1st boss (wasn't too slow tho) and movement.

Oldbie has apparently been doing a lot of testing and has concluded that the route I've been using is faster. If you consider the RT cost of my quitting out, my run still would have been faster than yours in RT despite having a death. I'm going to start focusing on RT optimization now, so only quitting out on Mimic and Skull guy.

Some people talk about this but I want a clear answers : RTA or IGT ? We can not take a checkpoint, beat some boss then reload the save and get back on a previous checkpoint ?

Because depending on this, all the route/menuing would be different. Maybe create different category but not too much category either.

I'd say RTA, that's but only my opinion.

Alright, i can't quite well see it right now but i'm guessing you're right. Too bad yeti is included.
Being able to manipulate IGT to the point where it's not even an accurate representation of how fast your run is, makes it a kinda pointless timer. RTA is always the safe option.
according to my numbers the amount of time spent walking with BananasaurusRex's route is roughly 10 seconds faster than the forest route and the time it takes to kill the two ice bosses is about 5 seconds faster than the time to kill the two forest bosses. i tested it out multiple times and am pretty confident in these numbers. to get the walking times i went from the starting checkpoint and then ran each route exactly as you two did in your speedrun.com runs. i ran into each boss room and then back out and used the menu skips at the same times as you two. overall the iceworld route, although only by about 10 seconds, was faster. let me know if you guys get different numbers. i ran each route 3 times.
oh and yeah RTA for the win Cheesy

Lol I just found an infinite roll glitch, if you leave the tutorial during the soul animation in NG+ from kiling the golem boss you get stuck in an infinite roll. I wish I could get video but I have to leave right to do stuff, will post video if I can later
Radicool
Alright so here is how you become Sanic. As far as I can tell, you can only do this on NG+ because the door is previously open.and it seems that stairs cause the glitched state to dissapear, however if you collide with anything with a horizontal roll will be stuck bouncing around unable to move.

Can someone tell me how to get rolling flame boss quick kill consistently? I've seen like 3 different videos and they don't work like half the time. I've tried standing perfectly still, shooting, retrieving the arrow then shooting again while not moving at all. I've tried moving back a bit after retrieving the arrow and that seems a bit better. But sometimes the boss will roll at me and not even give me the opportunity to shot his eye
I don't really know, i did both of these way you speak of (going back and just standing), but in the end all I do is shoot by feel. If you learn sound cues for the two possible musics that play there, then that'd be the most consistent i'd say (or only one music cues since they alternate and i don't think the first music that plays is just decided by rng).
Got a better run for 100%! I'm still using my stupid non-reset category.. Tongue
Still a few deaths but doing better.

I think my strat for the lavablob is a bit faster than in the quick-kill video

So i just checked when we actually get the kill for Truth, and it happens after the credits on the run's description print thing. So either We'll have to retime our 100% or we just define time on Last input and I'll have to figure out some other way to split for Truth in my script hahaha

Personally using speedrun.com as well atm

So it looks like the game timer stops when you lose control of your character, when lightning hits you after killing soul if you wanna time it that way might be a bit finicky

If you actually check after the credits the game time shown is the time of the kill, not the time of the lightning.

I believe it just continues the game time like it would do if you continue playing on a 100% file.
PS4 and PC have their game timers stop at different times
True, i was only talking about pc game timer as it seems to be the most logical one in terms of where it stops.
So I think I just found a really shitty glitch in the lava ball fight: He rotates according to your FPS, so if your FPS is less than 60 (like my laptop is when I'm recording), he won't spin the same way when he rolls at you the first time, so you can't quick kill him by shooting him before he hits you. This really stinks.
damn, that sucks
Also, I found out you can get an even faster quick kill on him by dropping your FPS to around 20 or lower and shooting him right as he hits the ground from his initial jump up thing. Would this be considered within the rules or no?
Radicool
That explains why I could never kill him like 70% of the time, is there a way you could lock the game fps to like 30 or something

I was timing route differences between nesneros' new run and mine and it seems that ps4 loading times are drastically shorter than pc (i'm running the game on an ssd and getting 2s more than ps4 on the first boss' room loading). Ps4 doesn't actually seem to have loadings, just fade out and in, no real black screen lasting inbetween. So i'm wondering, should we remove loading times? i'll try to run the game on a ramdisk to see if it makes any difference. But even tho, most people run it on an hdd and it would just increase the time difference for the sole cause being hardware.

You can check both our runs on the speedrun.com page if anyone wants to see the loadings for themselves.

EDIT: if we decide to remove loading times i'll try to add that into the autosplit script

RE-EDIT: as an example i retimed my run without loads (by that, hear with same loads as a ps4 or as close as i can manage by frame advancing the videos) http://puu.sh/hjBwY/96fbd47bee.txt
So what's the current fastest route? (Forest -> Ruins -> Fire -> Ruins warp), (Ruins -> Fire -> Ice -> Ruins warp) or (Ruins -> Fire -> Ruins warp -> Forest)?

for "forest ruins fire" forest warp is faster than ruins warp. and ice is faster than that. so either ice or ruins fire forest.
oh and you can't ruins warp after ice, the elevator takes the checkpoint spot. you come back by running.
