In this game there are several "level packs". You have to complete a level in order to unlock the next one.

There are four level types:

* Platform
* Vehicle (Hold a key to drive faster, sometimes you can decide which path to take)
* Boss
* Bonus (Unlock these levels by collecting enough coins in the platform and vehicle levels of the same level pack)

The levels are built up like this:

* Tutorial Level (Platform, Forces you to collect all 100 coins)
* Level Pack 1 (Vehicle, Platform, Boss, Bonus)
* Level Pack 2 (Vehicle, Platform, Bonus)
* Level Pack 3 (Vehicle, Platform, Boss, Bonus)
* Level Pack 4 (Vehicle, Platform, Boss, Bonus)
* Level Pack 5 (Vehicle, Platform, Boss, Bonus)
* Finale (Finish all bonus levels 100%)

There are 150 coins in each platform and vehicle level except for the tutorial level. You can replay every level as often as you want. The highest amount of coins you ever collected in a level will be saved.

In order to reach the Credits you have to unlock all bonus levels and complete each of them 100%. Then you have to complete a final level which is called "Final Bonus".

According to the rules you have to reach an ending which would be reaching the Credits in this game. However this is very similar to 100%, you have to collect 1400 of 1600 coins in order to unlock all the bonus levels. There are only 8 of 21 levels that you don't have to complete 100%.

Therefore I think these categories would make sense:

Any%: Defeat the final boss.
Any% (Credits): Reach the Credits.
100%: Collect all coins and reach the Credits.

Additionally you can set the game to "Easy" and "Normal" mode in the options. The only difference is that you don't get damage and don't run out of fuel in vehicle levels in easy mode.

Let me know your opinion about these categories.
Thread title:
From what I could see after a quick search on the net, beating the final boss is nowhere close to imply that the game ends. You just get the usual screen "Continue / Play level again", right? An ending doesn't have to be a credit roll, but I'd expect it to be at least a message like "Congrats you saved the world, now try to find all the coins" or something. It's not like I have done a thorough research, so if there is something in the game implying that you have beaten it after the level 5 boss, it'd be interesting to hear.

Do you have an estimate for how much time difference there is between the two credits categories? It sounds like both categories are legit since the game tracks the collectibles. If both categories are very close, I guess it's just up to the players to decide which category is the most fun and that will naturally become the default category.

Yes, but additionally the game scrolls back to the level pack where you haven't unlocked the bonus level yet, or if you unlocked but didn't complete it you will be redirected to the first bonus level which you didn't complete.

The level 5 boss is the last level that you play with the main character. You will play the bonus and final level with the side character (dog), that's why I feel like that boss is the end of the main part of the game.

However the story of the game is that the dog dreams of all the adventures which you play in the game. Therefore you could say that the final level is the end of the game storywise. I also forgot to mention that there is an ending sequence after the final level in which the dog wakes up.

I did only play the category "Defeat the final boss" yet. The limit for that category should be like 26:30 minutes.

Any% (estimated): 30 minutes or less because of different routing especially in the later levels and an additional level has to be completed.
100% (estimated): 34 minutes at most, you have to do some big detours in order to get all coins.

I think Any% is more fun to play, but that doesn't mean that 100% shouldn't exist since there are several minutes difference between those categories.

Are "Easy" and "Normal" mode both acceptable? Normal mode is much harder than easy mode since you die when getting hit 4 times by certain enemies.
From a game design perspective, it would have made sense to distinguish the levels from the bonuses by some kind of ending message when the final boss has been defeated. Especially since the last level is literally called "Final boss" and the Milou levels are called bonuses. However, I don't see anything happening after the final boss that is different than after beating any other level.

I'm not going to tell you how to play and enjoy your games and I'm not alone going to say that this would be acceptable for the site or not. The case is a bit too unusual and would benefit from at least some more input. That being said, my opinion is that other than going by how these words (level, final boss and bonus) are normally used in other games, I just don't see that the game has ended after the final boss.

I can at least say that the different difficulties would be acceptable here as different categories.
So I think we're looking at any% (beat the boss)/100% (do everything) in SS or ILs but not the in-between category. And indeed either difficulty setting is fine, although does it make sense to differentiate them in vehicle levels too? Whichever you decide to do as ILs first, take a good critical look at if it's really interesting to do the other one too. I think an incomplete ILs table would be acceptable if some of the levels' runs don't really change with the difficulty.

Oh and the tutorial level doesn't have a 100% IL for obvious reasons. Nor do vehicle stages if you can collect everything without sacrificing time. Nor obviously stages without coins.
