Speed Running Joy-bringer
Area 6 *Shiver*

The way I deal with that stage is to try and finish it in a single life. The reason being that with those 9 bombs, you can take care of your surroundings nicely (and even then, 9 doesn't seem like enough). Last I was playing though, I ended up with over 300 almost all the time.

Aquas... never tried going fast there so I might try it...
Fucking Weeaboo
Too bad I would never have anywhere NEAR 9 bombs on the red line route.  You waste them all in Zoness on that boss, since that's the only way to beat him.  I might have 1 or 2, but I'd use them on the mines at the beginning to clear the way.
Sleeping Terror
Just shoot the mines. And even if you get damaged, hey, what's a little damage? It's not like you're going to die. Maybe.

If you think this is hard, play Sin & Punishment sometime. ^_^
Fucking Weeaboo
It's not really the damage aspect I'm worried about.  They're not as bad as those damn moths near the checkpoint.  Those things can kick your ass if you blink.  Tongue
Sleeping Terror
Sigh... I need a break. I'm getting too annoyed at the random parts, the trivial parts aren't fun anymore, and now I'm screwing up the easy parts.

I still haven't beaten that 38:48. I guess I could put it on filefront or somewhere if anyone wants to see it, but the sound desyncs from Sector Z onwards. (I wasn't being cautious about what was running in the background when I captured it.)
Are you going to upload the 38:48?

I'd like to see it Wink
Dr. Penguin
I am most definately going to try this out.
I am sure I can beat 38:48 (like 4 years ago I could have LoL)
I am a bit rusty but I am going to give this a shot.
i like to watch.

i would like to see it, considering how awesome your sin & punishment run is.

What? I did not know of this. Man, I don't check super-play carefully or nearly enough (ever). Hmm, and Rez and Altered Beast and Bubble Bobble. I didn't even know Espgaluda 2 or Metal Slug 5-6 even existed either.

I wonder if the S&P run includes the ending. Armed with this, I might actually be able to understand it this time. Wink
Sleeping Terror
Well, then, I'll try to get a run up sometime in the next few days. My computer is a bit tied up right now.

Sorry, Enhasa, but I'm pretty sure I skipped the ending.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I might have a go of a redline run myself just for laughs. On the PAL version, of course  Grin

But, if you're doing a 100% run why go through Solar? It was the hardest level for me to get a medal on.

And in addition I think these runs should be on expert mode, they are meant to be hard after all.

With that said... I am sure Radix is going to delete the runs for sure hahahahaha

Anyways... there isnt much difference after all. Biggest thigns that change is more enemies and one-hit-brake-wing (I think)

Lasers move faster aswell. One hit breaks a wing is actually very important, because it's very easy to crash into stuff while boosting on some of thse levels.
Sleeping Terror
Okay, here's what I promised. It's not the 38:48, though. ~_^

About the parts which matter for speed...

Corneria boss: I took too long destroying one of the missile bays. Not much time lost.

Sector Y boss: Average. But I don't have the patience to reset every time he moves. I shouldn't have bothered to try lobbing bombs at him.

Aquas boss: I didn't do too well at timing the torpedoes properly on the last phase.

Zoness boss: A few bombs did no damage, either because I fired too early or because I hit a cannonball with them.

Also, I accidentally got gold on Zoness. Need to kill fewer enemies or more teammates next time.

Sector Z: No problem here. I forgot about lobbing bombs at the missiles, but I don't think it really mattered.

Area 6 boss: Okay. Could kill the tentacles faster.

Star Wolf: Meh... they spread out too much and I had to chase them down. It's hard to get a good run at Wolf; he likes to stay real close to me and loops whenever I start shooting. Also, I learned that the cutscene when you defeat them does not teleport you, so you don't want to be out on the edge like I was.

Andross: Could be better, but as with Sector Y, I don't have the patience to reset every time I don't kill the brain on the first strafing run.
Fucking Weeaboo
A buck 20 faster?  NICE.  *downloads*

I gotta see how I'm getting my ass kicked here. ^^;;
Sleeping Terror
My, almost 50 downloads! Thanks for all the feedback, people.
Yeah, I watched that yesterday and was pretty impressed by it.  I attempted the same run today, in fact...came up with something under an hour, even though I hadn't planned out much of anything, I was still boosting through the entire run and I had upgrades and all my allies for most of the game.  I don't think my boss battles could have been that bad, but that's where you really make or break your run.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Possible improvements:

1. Try not to shoot Wolf until you have a shot on him, as otherwise he will loop if you jst miss him.

2. Try to make the game lag less e.g. don't shoot as many fighters and boxes at the same time in Zoness, loop while bosses are exploding...

Really good run though

Just an FYI, StrangenessDSS, feel free to use the space I gave you for your Mischief Makers vids--there's at least a gig of space to spare that I'm not using, so you might as well. Smiley ...Unless you prefer sticking with Filefront.

I just bring this up because my filefront transfer has been going at a steady 1 kB/s all day Sad

Don't mean to be a buzzkill, but remember with FileFront, take that download counter with a grain of salt.  I've added several to the 'download count' but none to the 'successful download count' (which conveniently doesn't exist). :-/  Use multiple hosts for large files! (please) Kiss
Sleeping Terror
SuperCoolAl:

1. It's sometimes hard to know that I'll miss until after I've fired... but, in the future, I will be trying to manipulate Wolf's AI more. I didn't have much of a strategy beyond "shoot a lot" this time.

2. Yeah, I thought about that, but I wanted to blow stuff up so I decided to ignore it for now.

Spacecow: I'll keep that in mind. But I wanted to try Filefront once. Does it not work well for some people? I've never had any problems downloading files from them.

Greendino: I was trying to highlight the lack of feedback more than the number of downloads. Nobody except Sir VG had said anything, and that was before he downloaded it...
Fucking Weeaboo
At least looking at your video and comparing it to mine, I was able to figure out where I need to improve.

Looks like my Area 6 and Andross battles are where I need the most improvement.  I also need to take note of your route too, which was much faster (I took all lefts, you went right-left-right).

Only things to tell you pretty much you've already covered: Sector Y boss, don't medal in Zoness, better missle escorting in Aquas (those pearls suck, don't they?).  Good job though.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
This weekend I'll see what I can do about recording my own redline run.

I'll do it on standard difficulty then, seeing as how that seems to be the way things are going.
Fucking Weeaboo
Come on man, go for expert mode!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Oh, alright then!
