Hint: Getting the 9th Sword Orb and Mana Sword:
First, collect all eight Sword Orbs. Go to the Ice Country. There should be a small circular island just off the coast. When you land there, Flammie Neko should be there. Then save the game with him. Hold L + R + Start + Select to reset the game. Start a new game at the opening screen and get to the Mantis Ant. You should kill as few Rabites as possible on the way there. Hold L + R + Start + Select to reset the game again. This time, load your old game. The game should resume at the Mantis Ant with your party at your high levels. Hit the Mantis Ant once to kill it. You will receive another Sword Orb. Jema will pull you out and tell you to visit the Water Temple. Call Flammie and upgrade your sword. It will become the Mana Sword, and become the strongest weapon. You will still need to cast the Mana Sword spell for the final enemy. Note: This trick will erase the file that it is used in.

but i trained too much in pure land i could have been faster Grin

but for the french runner, i know what you did Wink

u used only 3 weapons, you ran through all the temples and stuff and used magic to kill all the bosses, then in pure land, you should have raised your level and get enough money for the last armor which you need for the mana dragon, u probably used magic to kill all the little enemies.

correct me if im wrong but i really think thats the only way you could have done it so fast Wink

i have the german version of the game and its really annoying watching a speedrun in another language... so shall the foreign runners just do their language version or download the emulator stuff? Grin

Hey. That last sentence would have been extemely nice to know before I did it...since my saved game is screwed now.

Oh well, I guess I could try getting back to where I was in a short time, to try it again. I'm definitely going to abuse the stat boosting glitches while I'm at it... Grin

Anyway, to say something on-topic, what do you mean by "emulator stuff" Krabbe? It has to be done on a Super Nintendo to be accepted here.

oooh alrigt, naw coz it said in the rules if you have a super nintendo game, you can either do it on the original one, or on the Zsnes emulator coz thats the only one where you can prove that you didnt cheat, i dont know exactly where but i swear i saw that somewhere in the rules on sda.

lol anyways the sword orb thing xD its not good for a speedrun doesnt help enoguh you still need the mana magics

so finally we are going to do the runs in our own language versions? DUDE THATS AWESOME, french and german speedruns xD, i hope this wont annoy ya because there is a lot of text in this game Grin

Emulators: We will NOT accept demos recorded on emulators (ZSNES, VBA, etc). This is not because we think you are cheating it's just that we can't prove that you're not. Tricks such as slowing games down undetectably on emulators are widely known so in the interest of fairness they won't be allowed to count as records. Also many emulators have a lot of bugs and slow down even if they are set to auto adjust the speed. Note that an exception is made for official emulators such at Nintendo's NES emulator that comes with some GameCube games.

hey sorry for triple posting but i have anoter problem....

you knwo this bug witht he 9th mana swrod orb? thats a little problem.. it seems to not work on some versions of the game. it worked on my english emulated version. but on the orignal german one, when i tried to land on that island i did NOT land near this purple cat guy, i landed like right before him where the enemies still attack you.... but that bug is really helpful against the mana dragon since you dont have to train the 8th magic "harzinger" or whatever shes called.

so what shall i try? playing the emulated version sux.
but playing the original one sux also since having speedruns in other languages is annoying. and some slitches dont work the same work Sad

i would buy the english version if i could but there is no store that sells this old game... since i need an english nes system too. sorry dude but i just wanna make sure all the rules are clear before we go Roll Eyes

In fact, i don't have training in Pure Land because i haven't "super armor". Gold of the boss is suffisant for the "super armors".
So i don't kill any little ennemies in Pure Land, and in fact, i think with my tricks Mana Forteress isfaster for to have EXP.

Here's the list where i kill little ennemies :

-before Tropicallo
-before Spikey Tigger
-before Ice Palace ( training of Ondine at Level 3 for to kill Borealia + training of Salamando at Level 1 or 2 for to kill the 3 little boss+Frost Giga of Ice Palace )
-before Gold Tower ( training of Ondine at level 5 for to kill the blue tigger + training of Syplhid at level 4 for to kill the second boss ).
-and now Mana Forteress because Mana sword isn't suffisant for to kill the final boss if you have a too low level.

9th Sword Orb : i don't use this bug.
I think it works only on NTSC and i don't think it's a good thing for a fan speed runner.
And don't think Mana Sword is so useless for a speed run : with it it's faster for to kill Spikey Tigger. And you have more probability to hit +0 HP a little ennemie with mana sword if you have a low level at the end of a speed run than to hit 0 HP without the mana sword and the little ennemies remain dangerous because they don't have to wait a little moment for to move after to be hitted with +0HP. But for this thing in fact i use magic but not for to kill it but just for to go to the next room + it's magic training for to kill the boss. But there is a considerable exception : the worst ennemie for my speed run at the tree palace, because he uses quickly "wall" and i hit always it with 0 HP, so i can't hit it with magic or sword, he isn't really dangerous in the tree palace but the stairs at the beginning of the dungeon are one of the hardest part of my speed run.

Hum, now i will explain my speed run for the 56K and the other high debit who have difficulties for to wait my run. My futur " Author's comment" will just explain the mistakes and my special run, here is my actually theorical run. I write it without to play, it's just with my memories, there are perharps logic errors but i don't think.

1) I take the sword, i go to my native village.

2) I kill Mantis Ant with my trick, i take the 50 GP in the coffre. I go to the water palace without the canon ( it's faster for this litlle way ).

3) I go to Gaia, and i have my first training in the room where you have the twist. I wait to have 88 HP, i you kill just the gobelins you must have just 500 GP at this moment. Then i go to the village and kill the others gobelins on my way. I go to the shop, i buy 120+70+45 GP ( 120+70 for Randi and 45 for Popoie ) armor + 10*4 grass +10*4 Candy, then i go the spectacle with Popoie, then i give 100 GP for the forgeron, then i kill Tropicallo, i take Popoie and with the gold of Tropicallo ( 132 GP ) i buy a objet for resurrection *1 at the shop ( 150 GP ) then i give 100 other GP for the forgeron, i use his shorcut.

4) I go to the forest, i kill the 2 wolfs with a trick but for this tricks Popoie must die, then i take Purim and i use the objet of resurrection on Popoie. I have training in the room of the interruptor in the forest. When i have about +1000 GP i go the catsle and kill the ennemies on my way. I go to the prison and buy 3* objet for resurrection ( 900 GP ) + 4* chocolats ( 240 GP ). Then i kill Spikey Tigger, i have a few little tricks for to have less matter with it.

5) I go to Undine's Grotte with Canon, the fight with the 2 boss is just boring, i put Randi in a position and with this position the 2nd boss doesn't move, he only jumps but the fight is long because he uses 3X Ondine. Then i have Undine.

6) I go to Gaia Grotte with training of Undine of the Sprite. I go to the inn then i go to the dungeon, i have training with Undine of the Sprite in the first room, then i go to the inn, then i have a new training with Undine of the Sprite to the level 1.00 without use all my MP, then i go the inn because i need MP max for to kill "Giga Fire". Then i kill 'Giga Fire" ( it's a VERY fast fight ) and have Gnome.

7) I go to Pandore with Canon. I have training with Gnome of Sprite at level 2.00 just at the right of Pandore and not in the ruins because it's faster to go in the inn. Then i tell the friend of Purim, then i go to the ruin and i kill the boss ( it's a VERY fast fight ) with the spell who cost 2 MP.

8 ) I go to Gaia Grotte and i kill the robot with this way : i hit him with sword then when he runs ( second part of the fight ) i use Undine level 1.00 on him.

9) I go to the Water Palace with Canon, i buy a nut by the swindler ( 1000 GP ) with the Gold of the boss, then i kill the boss at the water palace with Gnome level 2.00 and i use my nut, then i have rest by the swindler and i buy a new nut ( 1030 GP ), then i use the canon to go to Popoie's Country.

10) I tell the little 'mimi", then i go to the village and kill the 3 ennemies with Ondine, then i tell a "mimi" for the season trick ( without that it dosn't work ), then i finish my circle of the season ( it has begin when i go to the village attacked by the 3 ennemies ), then i kill the boss ( it's VERY fast) who has only 730 HP ( i use the nut and gnome at level 2.00 ), then i have Sylphid and MP max with the papy.

11) I go the "mushroom village" and kill the monsters with Sylphid of Popoie, i buy 3*500 or 4*500 GP at the shop then i tell the chef and have rest, then i go to the grotte and i don't use magic ( just for the interruptor ), then i start a fight with the worm and with sylphid at level 0+ and i use nuts and it's a good training for Sylphid, then i tell the futur flammy.

12) I have a rest and tell the forgeron for my sword, then i come back to the canon and go to the desert. My way is : up,right,up,left then i am in the boat. Then i have my evasion, then i recover Popoie then Purim, then i go to the top of the boat and have a fight with mech rider 1, i use Undine for to kill it, then i tell the good soldat for to go to the village of the desert. I buy nuts ( i don't remenber the number ) then i use the canon the go the village of ice.

13) I kill a few dog with Undine, with it i have training of Undine at level 3.00 and i have GP¨for to have max objets ( nut, objet for resurection ). Then i kill Borealia, i moderate Undine with it, i wait he goes out of the underground and hit him with sword charged then i spam it with Undine, then i have Salamando.

14) I kill all the monsters with Salamando ( priority for the turtles and the clouds ), it's training for Salamando and i use nuts but with the GP of ennemis i buy new nuts with the swindler, Salamando must be at level 1.XX near 2. I go to the ice palace, i use Gnome ( the spell who cost 1 MP ) on the Blue Drops for to active the interruptors, then i kill the 3 monsters but this way : i kill the 3 first forms with sword and i kill the 3 seconds form with Salamando ( they haven't the time to use Undine ), then i kill "Giga Frost" with Salamando.

15) I come back to the canon and i go to the desert, i have a rest and but new nuts + objets of resurrection, then i go to the desert and i go the Fire palace, i kill the boss with Sylphid and i have level magic 4 max. I come back to the Desert and i have a rest and i but new nuts, then i use the canon to go the empire.

16) I tell the woman espion for the 634 code, then i go the sewers, i use Gnome ( the spell who cost 1 MP ) on the Blue Drops. Then i tell the man of the resistance, then i go just behind the castle and have training of Gnome on the 3 ennemies at level 3.00, then i have a rest and buy new nuts, then i go to the ruins, i kill the first boss with Gnome with the spell who cost only 2 PM, then i kill the second boss with Undine and i use all my nuts but it's suffisant, he isn't a matter. Then i have a rest and buy new nuts and other objets of care.

17) I tell the men of the resistance then i go to the castle, i kill the first boss with Ondine ( it's VERY fast ) then i kill the second boss with Undine ( it's fast ), then i have Flammy.

PART 3

18 ) I go the Dark Palace and there is a moment when i use twist fo to go the begin of the palace after to have actived an certain interruptor, then i kill the boss with Salamano, but be careful ! If i remenber correctly Salamando under level 2 or 3 hit him only 1 HP ! And he has lots of HP, and sometimes, Fire ball at level 4.00 hit him only 20 HP? it's very random, so i have 4x nuts and a good level with Salamando. Then i have Shadow, wo i will kill all the ennemis who cause matter with "dark force" because it's efficace ( the animation for the spell is long ) and it's training because i will need shadow for one of the finals boss.

19) I use Flammy to go to the gold island, i tell the man at the top up/right of the town, then i use Flammy and i tell the woman espion, i have he key, then i go to the gold tower, i have training with Undine -)Level 5.00 and Sylphide -)Level 4+. Then i buy new nuts but i don't have rest : it's faster to use nuts on Purim for to care the 3 heros and on Popoie for to have MP max then i buy new nuts, i use this little trick since the part ?? of the run, that depend of the times. Then i kill the first boss with Undine and i spam him in 3 times, with this way he hasn't the time to have his "resurrection", then i kill the second boss with Sylphid. Then i have Lumina.

20) I buy new nuts, i use Flammy to go to the Moon Palace, i enter the palace and just after taht i run up/left then up for to find the interruptor, then i use Lumina of Purim, then i have Luna. I go out the palace and i have a training of Luna of Popoie with the 3 monsters, they don't use Luna because i spam the 3 in the same time. Training is : Luna 0.00-)2.XX. Then i use Flammy and go to the castle with the espion, i have a training of Luna with him ( to the level 3.00 or 3.XX ) and i kill him with Undine ( lol ). Then i tell the heros ( old soldier ). Then i use Flammy and go just behind the dark palace. I go on the top of the mountains, i kill the 3 sosies ( i use the famous trick ) then i use Flammy and i go to the tree palace.

21) I enter in the palace and kill the most dangerous boss, aegagropilion, i spam it one time with Gnome, then spam it with Luna ( -99 MP ), then i spam it one time with Gnome, then there is a very strange thing :
If you spam it with Luna, i he can lost 99 MP so he has 198 HP max.
If you spam it with Luna and you take only 50 MP ( for example ), you can't spam it after that so he has 149 MP max. I haven't this bug with the other boss.
So i take 99 MP because if you take only 50 MP in fact he can use "Wall" ' ( it's strange ), then he isn't dangerous because he hasn't MP and i spam it one time with Gnome so he has lost about 3*900 HP so then after that i use one or two time Gnome and he's dead, this last thing is important because it's useless to spam it the last time and you must have 1+ MP for to use Luna on the ennemies, so after this boss you must always have 4 nuts.
After the fight Luna is at level 4.XX.
Then i have Tree magic, then i go out with Flammy and i have the second music in the Sky. I come back in the palace.

22) I go down the stairs, then i enter the palace and go to the second boss Hydra, i use Salamando and i use one nut because you can't suck MP, Luna level is perharps too bad ( you suck only 1 MP at each time ). Then i go to the thrid boss ( i can use the restauration HP with the rebels ), it's the second robot, Kettle Kin, i use Ondine and one nut. After Hydra and after Kettle Kin i must to use Luna on the ennemis for have MP max with Popoie for the next boss ( Kettle Kin, Snap Dragon, Hexas).

23) I enter in the second part of the palace, i use a little tirck for the sphere : use the fastest animation not the most economic for MP because you can suck the ennemis. Then i have a fight with Snap Dragon, it's VERY fast with Salamando. Then i go out of the palace before to have a fight with Hexas because i needs training with Luna : minimum level is 6.00 ( if i remenber good ) for to be able for to spam Hexas, under this level you suck only 1 MP at each time. Then i have a fight with Hexas, i spam it with Undine then i suck MP ( if i remenber good 3 spells "suck MP" with Luna = about 25 MP and it's about my MP max ) then i spam with Undine etc... I don't remanber if must use a nut or not. Then you have a fight with Mech rider 3, you spam it a few time with Undine then you must suck MP. *Then you must suck MP then you must use Undine*. Then spam it with Undine and use your 1 or 2 last nuts.
The passeage *...* is dangerous because it's random : if you can spam it correctly it's OK, but he can use "Wall" and you must wait the spell is finish then attack it before he use a new time "Wall"...
While the fight with Mech Rider 3, Undine becomes 7.00.
Then i go out of the palace.

24) Now i have the third and the last music on the Sky, "Prophecy", one my fav music all time. I go to the village near the drak palace and have max objets of care. Now i go to Pure Land. "Pure Land" is also one on my fav music all time. I have training with Sylphid to the level 4/5 in the first place, then i kill the first boss with Sylphid. Then i kill the first dragon with Salamando, then i kill Axe Beak with Undine ( it's a VERY fast fight ), then i kill Red Dragon with Undine ( its VERY fast ), then i kill Thunder Gigas ( my fav boss of Secret of Mana after the 2 lasts ) with Gnome, then i kill Blue Dragon with Gnome ( it's VERY fast ), then i have the nice scene. The matter with the boss of Pure Land is you can suck MP, so be careful before each boss to have max MP after to suck MP the ennemies.
If i remenber good i use nuts only with Dragon Worm ( *1 or *2 ) and with Thunder Gigas ( *1 or *2 ).

25) I buy in a shop max objets of care and i tell the forgeron for to have the last sphere level after mana sword, then i come back to the tree palace to buy the best armors we can have in a shop, then i go to Mana Forteress ! The music "Leave Time For Love" ( music of mana forteress ) is my fav music of secret of mana and my fav all time, just in front of : the Ending of Zelda ALTTP, Menu of Seiken Densetsu 1, Tina+Locke+Dancing Mad of Final Fantasy 6, Prophecy of Secret of Mana, introduction of Chrono Trigger.

26) I go to Buffy and i kill it with Undine and if i remenber goos you can suck MP, then i go to Dread Slime, but before that i have a training with Shadow level X.XX - )4+, then i spam it with dark force and i use 1 nuts because you can't suck MP. Then i go to Dark Lich, but before that, i think i will have finally training in the 2 last room before the old room where you have a fight whit Mech Rider 3 ( it's the room just Before Dark Lich ), this training will be with the tsunami ( they can be duplicated ), the terminators and the master ninjas, these 2 ennemies have lots of EXP. After the training ( actually i don't know what is the lowest level possible for the best time training+fight with the last boss... ), it's the final run !

27) I go to Dark Lich, i spam it with Undine then i suck MP, etc...it's easy to kill it. I don't remenber if after to suck all these MP you must use a nut, so after the fight, you have 2 or 3 nuts for the last fight. After Dark Lich, the Mana Beast come and attacks the forteress ! "Meridian Dance" ' music of the final fight is also one my fav music all time...

28 ) Just kill the Mana Beast with Mana Sword ( hey you can use this spell in Dark Lich's room after kill it lol ) !! Use also Moon Energy ^^

Note : in the speed run you can use spells and items ( =objets ) of care near a door of an other room : just after the blue/green number appears you use the door, you don't lost a few seconds at each time by waiting the heros can move ^^

PART 3

18 ) I go the Dark Palace and there is a moment when i use twist fo to go the begin of the palace after to have actived an certain interruptor, then i kill the boss with Salamano, but be careful ! If i remenber correctly Salamando under level 2 or 3 hit him only 1 HP ! And he has lots of HP, and sometimes, Fire ball at level 4.00 hit him only 20 HP? it's very random, so i have 4x nuts and a good level with Salamando. Then i have Shadow, wo i will kill all the ennemis who cause matter with "dark force" because it's efficace ( the animation for the spell is long ) and it's training because i will need shadow for one of the finals boss.

19) I use Flammy to go to the gold island, i tell the man at the top up/right of the town, then i use Flammy and i tell the woman espion, i have he key, then i go to the gold tower, i have training with Undine -)Level 5.00 and Sylphide -)Level 4+. Then i buy new nuts but i don't have rest : it's faster to use nuts on Purim for to care the 3 heros and on Popoie for to have MP max then i buy new nuts, i use this little trick since the part ?? of the run, that depend of the times. Then i kill the first boss with Undine and i spam him in 3 times, with this way he hasn't the time to have his "resurrection", then i kill the second boss with Sylphid. Then i have Lumina.

20) I buy new nuts, i use Flammy to go to the Moon Palace, i enter the palace and just after taht i run up/left then up for to find the interruptor, then i use Lumina of Purim, then i have Luna. I go out the palace and i have a training of Luna of Popoie with the 3 monsters, they don't use Luna because i spam the 3 in the same time. Training is : Luna 0.00-)2.XX. thats amazing seiken :D, but i still dont get one thing. you said you had a too low level for the final enemy and you used moon power to rais your abilities so it could make up for the lack of levels? thats amazing if it works. whats your final completely done speedruntime?

5) I go to Undine's Grotte with Canon, the fight with the 2 boss is just boring, i put Randi in a position and with this position the 2nd boss doesn't move, he only jumps but the fight is long because he uses 3X Ondine. Then i have Undine.

i wish i would know how to get this enemy under control... i die 3 times in there coz he keeps eating me xD i know i sound pretty loser-like but that enemy is harder for me than the first huge tiger cat Roll Eyes

And one more time. do you remember at what time and what level you got to the mana fortress?

With mana sword+moon energy my level is definitely too low. I need also a min level.

It's just that and it's work in all the room. For this position just hit it on your left with the sword, if you don't move, the boss dosen't move, he only jumps.
It work also if you are on the left side off the boss. It work also is other "extremis" position like this but it's the same thing and it's more dangerous.

With mana sword+moon energy my level is definitely too low. I need also a min level.

I am really sorry to say that but i have special tricks ( that i discovered since more 10 years ( my childhood ) and they are very agressive for speed run ) i didn't say in my theorical run and if we can kill the final boss with level 40 in fact i can finish the game under 5H30 Grin

Here's my differences in my authors comments for next week:

1.Take the sword, kill ant, dont take 50gold coz it takes 5 seconds of time ;), then i just pretty much hit every enemy that i meet on my way there, after that i get the girl to go with me and go to the forest since i need training for the tiger by the which anyway. but i have a big difference Wink

i go back to the village where i meet the guy who gives me the new swrod and train on level two, that way i can use my favorite bug Wink

and kill the tropicallo a lot easier.

then i just train a little in the forest and after that once i got the tigger killed the rest is a piece of cake: once i get my first magic i just pretty much train magic and run through all the dungeons and only kill the bosses. i used thunderbold and earth slide a lot, they are the two major weaknesses of most bosses as you can see right here Wink

since we all want to have the most amazing and final speedrun seiken and me will probably copy a lot of ideas from each other Wink

but i wanna have the classical first run done, its like an honor for me Grin

Hey you speaks of bug but me for my run i don't use any bugs Huh?

i know there is a bug to kill the final boss but i don't know how to do it properly with a low level. You use bugs in your run ? Hum it's legal Huh?

Me if i can kill the final boss without bug i can finish the game under 5H30 wihthout any bugs, i have tricks but i don't use bugs Angry

its a bug

which i think is pretty amazing, and it actually is legal, if you take a look at the half life run speedrun, this guy is walking on the walls of the map and all that stuff, im simply using a single bug that helps me beat some bosses faster thats it. im not shortcutting or anything, please dont be angry on me seiken

this bug is a trick so we're a little stuck here seiken

Better to ask Radix if it's ok, Krabbe...

It's happened before that a runner used a timesaving bug and Radix afterwards just said "nope, not allowed", so even if you want to compete with seiken, make sure it's not going to backfire.

and could you people stop accusing me of cheating? the half life runner used all kinds of stuff too, and a lot of them were bugs not only tricks alright? Roll Eyes

we'll see, maybe radix will accept it or maybe not. but its still feeling great to just try runs, it gives you a huge confidence boost. ill talk to radix and send him an example and see if its okay to use that technigue.

and by the wya, its not a timesaving bug, its morelikely to be a hitting technigue

i got bad news for you and good news for me Grin

i showed radix an example of the glitch im going to use and he totally accepted it, but the thing he was worried about, was the video quality but now i got the whole thing under control, britghtness level, pixel format, this conversation was amazing :cheers: ill have the final run done my goal is to get the whole file in good quality but under 1 gb and with nate's faq its really easy.
i like this site because there are so many professionals who can help you with anything.
