The puzzle mode of this game looks pretty interesting. Might make a good speedrun. The puzzles seem to be consistent, not random. Not sure about consistency/randomness of the pieces.

Are we playing for overall best score when we add up the levels? I'm guessing yes because levels can be replayed and they're added to your score... or are we only playing each level once in a single play through?

Yeah, that's how it's going to work, it's not a single play through. This means you can come back and continue to improve your levels over time. EDIT: to clarify do not use the total score given to you, it's a total of all your playthroughs, not your best.

By the way, here's a tip for you guys. If you don't expect to have a lot of time this week you can ignore this at your leisure because doing all 18 levels properly might take you a while, but if you do: you'll notice you get a crown at the end of each level: you get a gold crown for getting 10000 coins in a level. The very first level has not much over 10000 coins so you really need to be ingenious to work out how to get there. Once you do, though, you'll be set for the rest of the game.

3 stages done. On palm tree paradise its possible to get all the gems in the area where you need the blocks to appear just by dashing and jumping. This saves having to grab them when trying to exit the stage.

I agree, I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I may just play through it not worry about score and then go back later to improve the levels.

Wow, couldn't have picked a better game for the score week.
This game really has it all, more score by finding secrets, more score by avoiding damage (end bonus, plus you might loose coins you dropped), more score if you kill enemies in certain ways, more score if you use the environment properly and not to mention the purple bonus pipes with pretty cool puzzles to solve for even more score Smiley

It's safe to say that you will almost always be able to go back and improve a previous score.
I'm definitely investing time in this game, they kept many of the mechanics from my favourite (Wario Land 2) while still adding interesting stuff.

My score so far:

Lowered alot by my crappy Monsoon Jungle (4k wtf? must've missed like half the level).

Yeah I dont get it.. between all of the games so far... i wanted to play this one but either my x64 hates m or i need to use something different cause i get wierd lag and it hurts (like i'll take hits i dont mean or be unable to jump over bosses...) so i'm done..

i tried the other games so far; i just donno can't do it well enough?

As regards playing through the levels quickly and then for score later, that's a really good idea that I'd completely forgotten about, because this means that in some levels you're not worrying about getting the key (for those of you who have played Crescent Moon Village, you know what I mean).

EDIT: just got 21860 Wildflower Fields, far from the max. I know you can get at least 23000 here. This is a level where you have to be really clever to work out some of the hidden secrets Smiley

I wish I'd heard about this tourney when it started. Oh, well. Guess I need to pay more attention.

Anyway, I've got an old score from my GBA cart, and if that's admissible, I'll use it for now, and if I can beat any of my old level scores, I'll do so.
