Hey everyone Cheesy hope everyone's OK and having a great end of year. I'm bringing this question since this could affect in a possible video i'll submit in the future.

In the RE2 community they have an strict rule, due the game runs slow in some PCs and in weird cases it causes some frame jumps i wonder if this could cause any controversy into the game. I'll put 2 examples: One where the game runs really good and the other is my run

Good video

If you check this video it doesn't have any kind of problems

My video

Checking specifically the fight of the G2 (Train Birkin 43:12) in this video you'll see why i'm talking about about the weird frame jumps that cause the game in some PCs

Now, maybe you're having the question "why this run was accepted on speedrun.com?"
Simple reason, one of the old mods developed a livesplit script that reads the value of the IGT of the game, the IGT of the game runs based in the number of frames played into the game once you see the game starting. Since i was using this script on my livesplit and showing the IGT time that's why it was accepted. There's a new version of the script that captures a precise IGT, better than the one i use (it pauses the split between 1 and 2 secs early)

Hope your opinions everyone and thanks a lot for your answers Smiley

So is using that script the way the official way the community times the run? If so, you can always also submit a video where it's showing, so long as there's nothing on top of the game window. It can be cropped out afterwards or you can also submit a cropped version yourself.

Yes LotBlind, that's the way the runs are officially tracked in the PC port of the game. I didn't know it could be cropped the video without affecting the quaility of this one :O any program recommendation? I was talking with Carcinogen and he recommended me a program but is using 2 PCs (the one for streaming and the other for just recording the clean raw video) sorry if the questions sounds noob xD i don't know how to deal with these kind of things where my knowledge is almost nothing. Thanks for the answer Smiley
Any program you're using will have a "canvas" on top of which you lay all the windows and overlays you want to capture. So long as you have original quality selected for the game window, no data is actually getting lost if you crop around the outside. After all, the game is only drawing so many pixels and the canvas can have more pixels than that (up to the monitor's native resolution).

Looking it up, seems that the PS1 had a resolution of 256×224 to 640×480. You shouldn't have any trouble fitting it all in. But yeah, nothing can overlap the game window.

This is the PC version of the game, as far as i know this version has different resolution from the other ports that we know, but yeah. I think i found something for sorting that if the run gets accepted for being in the website, so... I'll try to submit both videos (the one with the livesplit script and the clean video) or i'll try to submit just the clean version and with my splits if that could help. Thanks a lot LotBlind! Smiley i'm gonna work on that

either works for me if i'll be encoding the run.
