Most notably why I am going to redo:
For a speedrun they are not mandatory. You can travel back and forth till you get Styk mission. Also cutscenes are skippable and I knew they were when I ran back then. Tycho thought it isn't possible. This game can be done by doing 7 missions in on of 4 different ways(I didn't do it in my run because I thought it would be quite impossible):
1. Variant(Davion)
Styk - Reinforcement
Talon/Wernke - Moonlight (No enemy fire glitch found)*
Talon/Wernke - Country Life (One Assault lance with two Heavy lances)**
Talon/Wernke - Mech Works Defense (Three Assault lances)
Tharkad - Overlord
Tharkad - Resupply
Tharkad - Checkmate
2. Variant(Steiner)
Styk - Reinforcement
Talon/Wernke - Blackout
Talon/Wernke - Night Op (No mechs needed to be destroyed. Can be done while spotted.)
Talon/Wernke - Mech Works
New Avalon - Spaceport (Escorting involved => Slow)
New Avalon - Hacker Run
Carse - Wolf Trial (Can be done much faster than Checkmate)
3. Variant(Davion)
Styk - Reinforcement
HesperusII - Raid (Long walk, heavy resistance, destroy all enemies)
HesperusII - Stealth
HesperusII - Mech Works Attack
Tharkad - Overlord
Tharkad - Resupply
Tharkad - Checkmate
4. Variant(Steiner)
Styk - Reinforcement
HesperusII - Escort (slow)
HesperusII - Assault
HesperusII - Mech Works Defence
New Avalon - Spaceport (Escorting involved => Slow)
New Avalon - Hacker Run
Carse - Wolf Trial (Can be done much faster than Checkmate)
Variant 3. is out of the question because of Raid mission which would take long.
Variant 4. is also out of the question because of two Escorting missions.
Neutral win needs more missions done on Steiner side AFAIK.
* There is a glitch in the Moonlight mission. If you skip starting cutscene and shoot once a few times the enemy won't fire their weapons unless you wait for about 10 seconds without firing. I've also managed to get this glitch work on Black Cobra lances once. Probably has something to do with enemy being stealthy.
** Hostage glitch. If I ram into an enemy mech and keep close the other mechs won't fire at me or will only fire their missiles while mostly missing their shots! I can weaken the rammed mech and then shoot down the mechs around me. A way to defeat multiple higher class enemies.
I'll test out how long Spaceport mission actually is! It might be that the two variants are two different speedrunning categories because of endings!
[Edit] Second variant doesn't work that way. I thought I would get New Avalon right after Talon missions, but they don't show up. Those missions on talon would have been a lot faster than Davion's!
Quote from verifier:
Heads to Eaton, of which, at least 3 missions must be completed for the game to advance.
