hm.. good question I can't find anything really so this one may be the fastest ss run there is right now. and 1:02.26 is only like 30sec slower then current sda segmented time so nice job. how much faster do you think it can get by the way?
Wow im surprised there is another person that does runs of Red Faction. I think I have the fastest time with a 1:01:42 however it can easily be improved a minute or 2.
What's all this jumping that you're doing TSC and is it just for fun? And is it actually segmented?
Magnaud does it too, apparently bunnyhopping in this game is faster than regular movement, especially when ascending slopes, if that's what you mean. I didn't watch the full run, but as long as TSC only saves but doesn't load, it still counts as a single-segment run (at least I think).

I jump pretty much just for fun, and yes this is done single segment. (the loading zones are cut out because recording with fraps automatically removes them). As for saving I do it so if I die the run isn't completely over : Ex 32:20 i died and lost a decent chunk of time however was able to salvage the run.
For the record - even if you load a save - it's still single segment. It however may be classified as 'Single Segment with resets'.
For example, if reloading a save actually resets enemies or activates a glitch - but there is no 'break' in segmentation (i.e. you do not retry before / after the load to get a perfect run - like a segmented run would do) but just keep going in the same session, then it still counts as a Single Segment run.
tl;dr - As long as you play the entire game in one session, it's still Single Segment, regardless of whether you load a save game or not.
EDIT: The only thing in regards to timing - is that load screens are taken out for SDA timing. So in regards to who has the 'better time' you would have to take into account timing methods. But, I don't run this game, I mainly just wanted to input the primary point of this post into the conversation .
I need to work on going through the mountain. I could probably save 10 seconds atleast. I also compared both of our videos. It came down to the final code.

Any chance language affects timing? Conversations that have to finish having different lengths?
Anyway this run [I watched magnaud's] looks really nice. I didn't intend to but I ended up watching the whole thing! The boss fights look so trivial! Some of the kills look like they could be just a little faster. I guess it takes a whole shotgun blast to kill some of the enemies which is why you're left aiming carefully. It's true that a run on the hardest difficulty would have a somewhat different feel to it so it would be justified to have the two categories.
Around 27:35 when you're creating the hole in the cave wall for getting to jump across the chasm, did you also try blowing away a piece of the opposite side ledge so that there's a hole and a "staircase", jump down into the hole you created and climb up? Can you make such a jump and could it save any time?
the language does not affect the timing,I have the game in English and french and I do not see the difference, and the cave it is possible but more difficult thing
