Well, I'm really disappointed, I had a deathless run and was crazy excited about it, until I timed it (I do no timer no resets run), in game time was somewhere around 1:27:50 (?)... I think all my IL's are slower than ferret's, I still have a ton to learn.

I'm seeing people getting back to this game a bit as the days get closer to SGDQ, so I should really post this here. This is a small tool I put together using a Lua script for cheat engine. It's a stand-alone .exe, and it just looks at the game's memory and sends out a hotkey stroke to pause your wsplit/livesplit/llanfair timer every time a loading screen occurs in-game. It would probably be better to write a program from scratch, but I'm really not a programmer and this is the best I could come up with, and it seems to work pretty well. I've had to make several updates since I originally posted this but everything should be working.

If you're interesting in giving it a try you can find it here, I included a readme with instructions.

Important Note!: The 'Auto Split' feature can't split on time-trials, and won't split at the end of the final boss either. You will need to split those manually.

Update 2014-6-18: Now works with the new update for Rayman Legends that Ubisoft released today (v1.3.140380)
Update 2014-6-18: Added an automatic start/reset feature
Update 2014-6-20: Added an automatic split feature, saves settings in a config file (will probably not be adding any more features to keep it simple)
Update 2014-6-21: Fixed a bug that caused hotkeys to get stuck after closing and re-launching the game
Update 2014-6-28: No real changes, just cleaned up the script a bit and centered some text
Update 2014-9-15: Disabled the start/reset feature for now because it can cause errors (rmlSplit_u3_3b.zip)
Update 2014-9-16: Hopefully fixed issue with start/reset feature(rmlSplit_u3_3c.zip)
Update 2014-9-24: Got this working on Windows 8, thanks to DownieBrownie for bringing the issue to my attention.

Got a new WR last night (1:25:23). Had some dumb mistakes in it, (like going to the hero's gallery before W3), and definitely not as clean as Ferret's former WR run. But still a good improvement in time:
I shouldn't have watched that, now I feel bad about using slow strats at SDGQ ;_;

No don't feel bad! Sad Seriously, I still think you, Spike, and Ubergoos are the most skilled runners of this game imo. Weather its new strats, or old strats, doesn't matter. I think most people just want to see the best runners play the game.

So, I'm having a really big problem with this game. I'm playing it on PC, and the game itself runs fine, but I can't get my PS3 controller to work properly. I'm using the SCP Xinput drivers, and they work fine in other games, but in Rayman Legends I have a few problems that make the game unplayable.

If I do a down attack, Rayman executes it, but then just stays crouched for ages and the game won't let me give it any input for a good 20 seconds until it stops and I can move around again. During this, if I press escape to bring up the menu, it just goes through the options from top to bottom rapidly, so it means the down input is sticking for some reason. Secondly (this only happens sometimes), if I die, when I respawn Rayman starts moving in direction, either left or right, continuously for about 30 seconds, and my controller starts rumbling for a good 20 seconds during this as well, an.

I've been running Super Meat Boy for a while now, and the SGDQ race Spike, FearfulFerret and Ubergoos did a few hours ago of this game made me want to start running it. I really don't want this controller issue to disallow me to play the game. I suppose I could always use keyboard controls, but I'm guessing they're not as good compared to a controller. I'd really appreciate it if someone would try and help me out with this problem.

Edit: I used the guide here to install the drivers. http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInput-Wrapper-for-DS3-and-Play-com-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller

Edit 2: This doesn't happen in any other game I've used my controller with, so it probably has something to do with the way the game handles controller input.

Edit 3: Using a program that shows be which buttons are being pressed on my controller, it turns out that when I die or do a down attack whatever inputs I was pressing at the time are continuously input to the game, and no other inputs work, so if I do a down attack and hold the sprint button, even if I let it go, Rayman does the sprinting on the spot animation for about 20 seconds until the controller becomes unstuck.

Edit 4: Going to try reinstalling.

Edit 5: Reinstalling didn't fix anything.

I've never used a PS3 controller on PC, do you maybe have any other controlelrs/HIDs connected that the game might also be picking up for some reason? That's the only idea I have that you haven't mentioned yet. I'm just a keyboard user, so I probably can't be of much help Sad

Also, if you were wondering, keyboard does have a disadvantage in the water levels but it just makes a few of them a little bit trickier, I think they can be done just about as fast.
I don't have anything else connected, so I guess the problem is with the game itself. I guess I'll have to use a keyboard. What keys do you map the inputs to?
Hopefully someone else will have some idea on how to fix that controller :/

In the mean time, here's what I like to use:

However you choose to configure the controls, the important thing is that you have access to the murfy keys while pressing run and attack.

Hey all, I recently got into speedrunning this game, just challenges and invasions for now, but I plan on streaming the PS4 version on a pretty regular basis in the upcoming months. I don't expect WR times but I do expect to have a lot of fun. Seems like everybody has been gone for a while but if anybody would like to check out my stream I would really appreciate any help you could send my way. Wink

Hit a new console WR on 2-3 (there's a better time on PC)

I found something strange with the shield enemies where if you jump off of them at the same time that they are raising their shield, you get a speed boost.

EDIT: Just realized Spike hit a better time on ps3 two weeks ago, so this is the ps4 WR but not the overall console WR.

Another PS4 record:

FYI there's plenty of other runs on my channel if you are looking into running this game.

Another PS4 WR:

Unfortunately some financial setbacks have pushed back my ability to stream, but whenever I do get stable again I'll be streaming runs of this game.

I have a question and I am sure it was asked already somewhere else so if this is a repeat i'm sorry.

But just curious, I see everyone doing PC runs of this game. The start of this thread says there isn't much difference between console / pc, My question then would be is running this game on my Xbox one an issue? My pc is so broken it can barley manage Youtube & Skype at the same time so running a game on it would probably make it combust. I hope XB1 is okay because I love this game and would love to run it.
4get the h8rs, always
Hey Skie,

I don't know much about the differences so take this with a grain of salt, but as you said I don't think there's many. I would guess that load times differ, which would only matter if you are doing a full game run and not just individual levels. I've also noticed that Wii runs are generally quicker than PS4 runs in single levels, but that may just be because the runner who holds most of the records is also a wii runner. Hopefully somebody who's done more actual research on the subject can clear it up for you.

At any rate I'm glad to hear that you want to run RL, I'm always around if you'd like to chat.

Cool beans! Iv'e been fiddlin' about with some of the movement and putting around on the Leaderboards. I can't remember the name of the stage but its the decent of like 1000meters  and my first attempt ever was something like 25 seconds and after about 15 minutes of grinding at it I got it to a high 18 or some such? It feels really good when you get the speed and I can't wait to refine it further, It just feels solid and is a blast to play ( However I already dread playing through world 4, Spikes twitch broadcasts made sure of it Lol. Bloody water levels am I right? )
4get the h8rs, always
The difficulty with water levels is learning how to get the boost when entering a body of water, the timing is really difficult and if the stick is in the wrong direction you'll go barreling into a wall. Movement in the water is tough to optimize too, but luckily this game doesn't rely on the water aspect TOO much.

when I get home and off of work (Yep on SDA on work pc :P) I was planning on playing a bit. you got quite the collection of PS4 WR ( grats btw )  I was curious if when I went to play it you would be cool to hang out? I'm still really super green when it comes to the game ( in fact I haven't beaten it yet casually, I got about halfway through on my furthest, I was just playing it to relax and the like. but now I'm gunna hunker down and learn to run it. Although I feel like beating the game first isn't exactly required when it comes to learning the games route and strats, besides iv'e watched at least 30 or so SS runs  so I got the jist Tongue if your willing I could add you on skype for talking purposes or whatever you guys use n.n

I'm really busy as of late due to some problems at work, so I haven't run in a few weeks, but once I get things cleared up and start running again we can definitely chat. I'll also be starting a livestream sometime in the near future. I have a lot of different videos you can reference on my Youtube Channel as well.

Have fun running!
Looking for: Friends, Times, & Fun!
Thanks! Will do n .n

I hope work gets better for you. I know that game, I'm out of a job come the end of September. Office Contract work can suck when it comes to a stable income :/
Can't stop me. Can't bring me down.
So back when I first started playing this game I did a casual 100% run.  However I also unlocked all the uplay rewards.  This is a problem because during the beginning of doing a speedrun they pop up 1 right after another.  Is there a way that I can disable this or anything?

Sorry for Necroing an old thread, I am having trouble getting the splitter to work. I have followed the readme and the program itself says timer started but it is not actually starting on Livesplit. Any help would be appreciated.
