Postal 2 speed run?

Wouldn't do much good, since there are no missions there, but an interesting find, nonetheless. Oh, and I do whack people who don't sign my petition in this run as well. I am actually on Friday, and if I can finish this other project this week, I should be able to finish this run next week, and hopefully have it all up. I don't want to release anything beforehand, just in case I find improvements and because I want to combine all five segments (one for each day) into one. I swear this will be done before June, and if everything goes as planned, it will be a very entertaining and fast run.

It is possible to go anywhere you want on Monday (You can also get into the Library by the "You are stuck" thingy Smiley

).
But if you buy a Book from the Paradise Mall and then bring it to the Library, nothing happens.
Because you can go anywhere, it is also possible to get several things like the Alternator, Napalm and probably the Package from the Parcel Center too (Haven't tried this yet).
But I haven't played till Thursday/Friday with these items yet.
So obviously all the completion scripts don't work but maybe you can already take an item with you (Like the Alternator) and maybe then when you reach Friday, you've automatically finished that mission Wink

If you go to the Compound on Monday, you'll get the movie about Uncle Dave there too Smiley

(But if you kill Uncle Dave, nothing happens).

I've found a funny way to quickly complete the mission "Confess Sins" on Tuesday Smiley

I couldn't upload the small movie to Filefront at the moment so I've uploaded it to YouTube:

There are actually two downsides to this method.
The first one is the accuracy of shooting, because ofcourse it needs to be done fast and you can pretty easily shoot in the wrong spot but I've placed the crosshair in a certain way (This is difficult to see on YouTube...)
The other downside, in order to shoot a Rocket with a Rocket Launcher, you need a... Rocket Launcher Wink

The only one I could find on Tuesday is in the Bank area (On top of a Level Transition tunnel).
I haven't extensively searched on Monday, but I could not find it near the path you need to go to complete the missions, so then again you should need to get "off track"...
Maybe if you go off track to get the Rocket Launcher and then finish "Confess Sins" this way, it will still save time, I don't know yet.

I just wanted to show the Rocket Finish... Wink

I just checked the Parcel Center and Meat World.
The Package in the Parcel Center is not there but you can get 2 Rocket Launchers there Wink

Also the Steaks are not in Meat World.
So then I guess the only items that could be helpfull to pick up would be the Alternator and the Napalm...
I'm going to run through the game now to see if it has any effect Wink

Most of that is unnecessary, but interesting nonetheless. When running this pure speed, I realize I don't need a lot of anything to pass it, even on Average. Still great nonetheless, hence my desire to finish it as soon as possible. And yes, I found the Friday alternator thing myself.

You could use that trick even better. When you're starting on Friday, don't drop the Alternator yet. Finish the other 2 missions first, then walk to your home and drop there the Alternator and then pick it up again. This way you will skip the newspaper and some "angry bystanders" heh Wink

It is also possible to skip the Gimp Movie (And so also the "Pick Up Laundry" mission) in the beginning of the Brewery. I've only managed to do it 2 times out of, I don't know, like 50 attempts Grin

So I guess that trick is not really Speed Run friendly... Wink

No indeed, Friday isn't too long.
The only time consuming problem is walking from point A to B , as in all days Wink

Btw, have you found any useful "You got stuck" warp tricks?

I found one in the "Get Steaks" mission.
When you've picked up the Steaks, go back just a little bit to the door with the crates in front.
Stand on the crate near the wall next to the meat and you will be spawned just before the crates.
Then stand at the same "You got stuck" spot again, and you'll be spawned pretty far back.

I've got another question (Oh... questions, questions, questions... Smiley

).
Are the Level Transitions and the movies timed in a Run?
I think the Level Transitions aren't, but the movies are.

The movies are, but I cut out all the transitions in the run (as you would notice in the practice runs), since they are not.

Because with figuring out the fastest route, I took the route which had the least Level Transitions in it.
But it appears that doesn't matter, so then I'll just search for the fastest walking route Wink

Anyway, I'll ask for the last time now, how's the progress?

Like I said, I am on Friday. And believe you me, I want to finish this bad boy as much as anything else, but it must wait until this project I am working on is finished (maybe a few more days). I want this done in the next week.

Hem, i might be wrong, isnt this the game where you can pee on people, hit em with a shovel and decapitate their head with it, then pile up the bodies, gas em up and set it on fire?

I thaught this game was a virus. As soon as you uninstall it, you get a virus.

I feel really bad about not finishing this before my trip, but my video card has all but died on me. Running any type of game is difficult right now. When I get back from my trip, I am getting a new video card, and the first thing I am doing is this run. It has bugged me incessantly since I started, and I really really need to finish it. I am sorry again, but I will be back on Father's Day, and plan on finishing it that week.

Ok, I am back, with a fresh mindset and new video card to boot. I have gotten back into the beat of things and the run is back on schedule. I thought of some interesting tricks while on my trip that I would like to try out. Since running the first few days is easy, I might just go back and rerun them and see what I can pull off. With the proper dedication, I could have this run up very soon.

Hmm, BTW, about that moving faster.
I've also encountered several times (Especially on Monday in the shop to get milk) that when you walk in a certain way against a moveable object, you'll move forward very fast.
But I never really figured out how it would be possible to always do it.
Maybe this is a trick you were talking about? Smiley

I guess this is a good opportunity for me to ask, how's the progress now? Tongue

No, that's not it. It's more like, skipping over sections of the map, but the map isn't so giving I have found out. As for progress, very good. I am progressing more and more, and plan to have a quality run out soon, rather than just a practice one. It's lookin' good.

About the thing of moving faster I was talking about, I've tested it some more and it appears that you need to have an object next to some wall and then strafe+forward against it.
This will make you go faster but it's not always happening (It all needs to be correctly placed etc...) and it's not very usefull because it's time consuming to do, so forget about this Wink

I also once saw a movie of someone standing on a sickbed from a hospital, and then they hit it with the Shovel to move forward pretty fast, but it's pretty difficult to steer the thing so that's not really an option either Smiley
