I lost the game!
I'm a portal speed runner, nothing like the current record for PC, though I had a question. Can I submit a speedrun based on the conditions that it's a gltch-free run, non  segmented? As in as many save loads as you want, but no editing them out. Currently, I get it done in under 30 minutes on a casual run, so I wanted to know if I could submit something that i should work tward. Thanks for reading.

(Here is a sample of one of my older videos)

EDIT: I did read the threads talking about "glitchless runs", though a >30 minute run with no glitches is still pretty fast. I'd just like a reason to put effort in a run, even if I can only call it non segmented.
Thread title:
Visit my profile to see my runs!
Two things:

1) What do you mean by glitchless?  If you mean what I think glitchless generally means (such as not going out of bounds or whatever), this is not treated as a separate category anymore unless the glitches are "major glitches" that allow you to skip a major portion of the game.  So unless the glitches you intend not to use are major, basically the answer is that we would not host it unless it was faster than our glitched runs.

2) Saved-but-edited-out, if I understand what you mean by that phrase, is not called non-segmented here.  That would be segmented with the files appended.
we have lift off
The least glitched run you can do is like the 14min run Demonstrate did where you don't go out of bounds.
Exoray
With "non-segmented" he was likely referring to an RTA, which is also not an eligible category.

Okay there's basically two seperate issues here: whether a 'glitchless' run is allowed, and whether what the OP calls a 'non segmented' run is allowed.

1) If you can come up with a definition of 'glitchless' which is firstly reasonable (i.e. your average person watching a 'glitchless' run per your definition would more or less agree that it is indeed glitchless) and secondly objective (i.e. there are no grey areas in which people could argue over whether a submitted run counts as 'glitchless' or not), then you can propose that definition here, and if people agree that it's reasonable and objective, Mike will probably allow it as a seperate category like he's done in the past for games like the Tomb Raider series. It's at his discretion, though, and you'll have to come up with a tight definition of 'glitchless' first. This is necessary for anything to happen, and nothing else you say besides providing a definition of 'glitchless' or working with others to establish such a definition will be at all useful, so please don't make the mistake that many (idiotic) people before you have made of rambling for a few pages about why the game should have a glitchless category without making any progress towards defining it.

With regards to Portal, I can see things like wall-climbing with objects being very difficult to define objectively. Good luck if you want to try.

2) I think what you mean by 'non segmented' is RTA, like moooh says. Currently we don't allow this. Basically SDA allows 'segmented' runs (i.e. use saves to break the run into segments, attempt each segment as many times as you like and then stitch together the successful segments to form a consistent run) or 'single segment' (no saving or loading allowed at all).
we have lift off
Well RTA will be allowed in about 25 days time (after the marathon):

Quote from Flip:
Alright, we had hoped to focus on the marathon and handle this after that but since the issue is being pressed again we'll address it now.

Completely replacing SS with RTA would be a ridiculous overhaul of the entire site and would require that every single run of all of our >600 games be retimed.  This is simply not going to happen.

Clearly there are games which will benefit from an RTA category, and at this point we recognize that completely disallowing RTA from the site would not be beneficial, so we will be allowing RTA runs on a case-by-case basis.  ALL requests for a rta category to be allowed for a certain game need to be directed at mikwuyma in a pm.

The rules won't be refined to reflect this change until after the marathon, but now everybody knows our stance on the issue and how we plan to proceed with it.  Please do us a favor and let us get through the marathon before bombarding us with requests.  That way we can concentrate our focus on the marathon and the sizable list of things that need to be taken care of beforehand.  After the marathon the to-do list will be much shorter and we can start approving games for rta categories.
Waiting hurts my soul...
You should probably aim for sub-20, as close to 15 minutes as you can. Also, you should definitely be faster than the 360 run if you're running on PC.
