Greetings everyone!

We are once again running an FF6 tournament beginning on November 15th. These races will be to Kefka at Narshe, about 1/3 of the way through the game. This is the perfect opportunity for those new to speedrunning the game to get their feet wet!

The tournament will feature 4 rounds of Swiss play that will run from November 15th to December 23rd, where the top 16 from Swiss Play will proceed to a Single Elimination bracket, to be completed by February 11th. Participants will be expected to do one race per week, and these races will take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours.

The rules for the tournament can be found here.
The signup form for the tournament can be found here.

An updated guide by LCC can be found here.

Hope to see you there!

Moved under "community marathons"... I think I'll rename the subforum so it's clear it's for all kinds of events.

After hearing your feedback, we've decided to extend the sign-up period for the tournament by two weeks. The new sign-up deadline will now be November 15th. This will give people much more time to learn the run and get prepared for the tournament.

As such, this will change the dates for the tournament itself. The Swiss Round of the tournament will now last from November 15th to December 24th, but the number of rounds will remain the same. This lengthens each individual round of Swiss's deadline to approximately 10 days per round, so people with plans around the Amercian Thanksgiving holiday should have ample time to schedule around whatever plans they may have.

We have also decided that after the Swiss round concludes on December 23rd, there will be about a month long break in the tournament before the Single Elimination bracket starts. There are two major reasons for this: the Christmas holiday, and AGDQ. A lot of tournament participants are heavily involved in AGDQ (be it just attending or running a game themselves) and we want those individuals to be able to dedicate themselves without having to worry about the overhead of our tournament. Therefore, the Single Elimination bracket will now begin on the week of January 14th, with the deadline for the first week being January 21st.

So for those of you who had reservations about not having enough time to learn the run in short order, here's your opportunity!
