SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Right now, I'm working on an IL of Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise.  Each level requires a specific set up in order to complete the stage fast: whether if that is to pick the best items to rush through everything, or having to wear something specific in order to complete requirements.

My question is, should I record my set up for each stage that I do in order to show what I have equipped? or in the case of ILs, should I just start recording when the stage begins and skip the set up?

I'd say show the setup if it's important to the level strategy, but nobody's going to reject it if you don't. How much extra time is required to show the setup? You could just explain it in your comments, too.
Waiting hurts my soul...
If the setup and preparation are obvious when watching the video (you pull out a parachute because you picked it), then I think it's not necessary. For things like stat values that aren't displayed, then I appreciate seeing those in the final videos. In the end, like UA said, it's enough to have them in the comments for verifiers to confirm.

Well, the set up would be to show what is currently equipped on Naughty Bear.  Outside of a couple of stages (where you have to havea specific item such as an outfit or a weapon), this really doesn't matter.  I can't recall any IL submittions where the runner had different set ups in each stage, thus they never bothered to show it, but here, I'm questioning if I should show it or not and from there to just make a 20 minute video full of attempts and from there dissect the specific clip to make that the IL submittion.

Again, it isn't really important; mainly it is to show what is on Naughty bear just cause.  As for the extra time, I would say an extra 5-20 seconds to first show what is equipped, then to select the stage and load it.  Techically, the time wouldn't start until after I hit "GO!" and start running.

*After Zenic's Post*

I can see how showing stats is important.  However, in Naughty Bear, the stats they have isn't really anything important.  Granted I can see for perhaps putting the "Show equipment setup" at the end of the video rather than the start so that it can help cut down on the overall length of the video.

I guess another thing was how in my previous submittions, the lengthy description I give usually gets cut down significally when it is posted to the site.  I can understand that the middle part isn't really anything important, but sometimes when I read back on my previous comments on a run, I see stuff that I thought was important getting cut out.

Still, I think I'll try that.  I wouldn't do it for the first two videos since I am already happy with how those came out, but for the rest of them, I'll start doing that, and then when I used Anri-Chan to chop up the video further, I can edit it from there so that it skips the previous failed attempts and just shows the successful run.

Edit: well, by edit, I mean to cut out the extra parts before and after the stage.  Loading, results, equipment, or other things that have nothing to do with the actual IL.  Granted if there are any problems with the video as I work to submit them, I'll be sure to head over to Tech.

Yeah, if it's the kind of thing that you can explain in your comments and it's easily verifiable based on what you're actually doing in the video, then I'd say you don't have to record it.

As for comments being edited, I don't think moooh does that unless he's fixing the formatting, so you might want to ask him about that.
Exoray
Yeah no we never mess with comments in that way. If comments for one of your runs don't look the way you expect then you either sent us the wrong version of the file or the file got partially corrupted before it reached me.
If you ever want to update any of your comments, just drop me a message with the new version.
Terraffirmative!
Provided they don't change, you could always show these things after instead of before so that you don't have to spend the time going to the menu between each attempt.
1-Up!
When in doubt, record too much and trim it later. Normally you can't give your verifiers / viewers too much information. Even 1-2 seconds is fine b/c people can pause if they want to read it all. Just like RPG runners who sit on their file for a second before loading up imo.
