I've never done a speedrun here before but I'd like to do one for a highly obscure DOS game called Freakin' Funky Fuzzballs.

This game was commercially released in 1990 but hasn't been rereleased in any format.  I would be using an original copy.  It runs smoothly on DosBox's auto/default settings.

Is recording the game using DosBox's recorder acceptable?

When doing a speedrun, when exactly does the timer begin and end?  For example, FFF has copy protection before the title screen.

Anything else I should know?

Thank you/
Thread title:
Does anyone have any feedback?  I've recorded a run but I don't want to submit it just yet.

Also, how hard is it going to be to validate something that almost nobody has ever seen before?
Wake up and be awesome
The problem with submitting a run of an obscure game is that obviously it'll be hard to find verifiers. You might get enough to verify before going into public verification, but likely not with the stuff you mentioned. I'd like to see you're run if at all possible, just post it on youtube if you have it recorded
