Before this ones dies too fast, I have encountered this problem and a solution, but I'm researching it right now.

This problem does tend to happen when you have install the Demo first, then the Retail.

EDIT:
Though it doesn't hurt to back your registry up first.

This solution worked for me.
I have to reinstall Fraps every time I run it because I get this error every time:

"Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author."

Not such a big deal, but if anyone knows wtf is wrong let me know.
Great job, it does work again  Shocked Tongue
If it now just would run as fine as it did with my old crappy Graphic-card...  Cry

Dont wanna know what everything else i deleted, but it runs.. what matters

Your whole house burns, and you stand under water up to the head, but no matter - Fraps runs ! haha
This method worked for me!

For those who still can't run it using that method, try combining it with the licenses fix.

Gonna rewrite this as detailed as possible, cuz it's easy to get frustrated and miss out on something. Like I did Huh?

Here's how I did it.
1. Launch Regmon

2. Exclude all major processes that shows up in the list (this is to keep it cleaner and make it easier to search for values).
To exclude a process simply right click any value that is connected to that process and hit exclude process.

3. Run Fraps and wait for the timer to finish.

4. Freeze Regmon by focusing the Regmon window and pressing Ctrl+E.

5. Now make sure that the only visible process in the regmon list is Fraps. If not, repeat step 2 to exclude all processes EXCEPT Fraps.

6. Open search by doing "Edit -> Find" or CTRL+F. Search for CLSID.
(If nothing is found make sure it searches through the entire list, by changing the up and down options at the search dialog)

7. If you examine the found entry, Its gonna look something like this..

      HKCR\CLSID\{a bunch of numbers}

Or like this..

      HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{a bunch of numbers}

Now the one we want is the first one.. HKCR\CLSID\{a bunch of numbers}
So if your search ends up on the other one, just look through the closest values they should be very close to each other.

When you find it just highlight it.
(Don't get confused by all the similar HKCR\CLSID\ values they are all the same and it doesn't matter which one you highlight.)

8. Press the small register icon at the top (near the menus). It's the small blue cube at the very right.

9. This will bring up the registry editor and find the value automatically.

10. Press delete on your keyboard to remove it. You can close the Registry editor now.
Keep Regmon running.

11. Now download this fix, extract Licenses.reg and apply it to your registry.
      xxx.electronicfiles.xxx/files/1851/fix.rar
replace the x with appropriate letter.

12. Run Fraps and it should work.

!!!!!!! After this Fraps will only run if regmon is running as well.
so everytime you wanna launch fraps you have to run regmon first and wait for fraps to load, then you can close Regmon !!!!!
NOTE: IF YOU DON'T RUN REGMON FIRST YOU WILL HAVE TO REDO ALL OF THIS.

Maybe it has something to do with the values that fraps adds upon startup and regmon protects the registry from being edited.
If that's the case maybe a background process that blocks certain programs from editing the registry would be easier to use.
I don't know any programs with that feature. If you do, try it out Smiley

I like to thank the people who found these solutions, they are not mine. So credits go out to you guys.
Oh, by the way...

xxx.electronicfiles.xxx/files/1851/fix.rar =

ight i tried the trial version or free w.e  and then got a full version and like everyone else it didnt work, so i did a system restore back b4 i had the trial version and then installed the new full version but it still wont load
Many people are having trouble opening Fraps.

These are people who tried to obtain the program illegally by downloading it or getting it from a friend.

Unforunatly for them, they had previously installed the trial verson.  And the makers of Fraps built in a permanent registry that enters your computer's deepest darkest when you install their trail program.

The the theif tries to illegally obtain the full verson of Fraps.  And even though the theif uninstalls (or doesn't uninstall) the trail verson, the registry for it remains.  And it detects the illegal crack verson of Fraps and prevents it from opening.

You need the lattest verson of Fraps, and that you MUST purchase from their website.

Alternatively you can try two other things if you are determined to steal the program:

1.)  Downloading a Registry deletion program.  But be warned because:
A.) If you delete the wrong thing you can permanetly destroy your computer.
B.) Often times even deleting all aparent Fraps registry still doesn't work.

And 2.)  Completely wipe your computer and use a recovery disk to set it back to its "out of box" state.  Then do not install the trail verson, just install your illegally obtained crack.  However, this solution reportedly ALSO doesn't work most of the time.

In other words...

You want Fraps free?

Sorry.

Deal with it.
You were outsmarted.
likelihood the above post came from a fraps developer: high.

otherwise, lol.
Anyone want to run regshot while installing the trial to see where they hide this secret registry setting?

I would laugh if that actually worked. Hmm, it's piqued my curiosity, maybe I'll give it a go..

it's called armadillo iirc, it's a third party anti-piracy registry resident app afaik.

you really have to admire how seemingly well suited doze is to that kind of thing out of the box.
Guy's watch this video it helps alot seriously :
