I had this problem too were you install the trial version and the full version wont work. Anyways i found a fix for it. Download this and run it, after you run it, it should have a bunch of little icons on the left side. Click the second one that says armadillo. When you click it, it should bring up a list. Right click everything and hit "clear". And thats it, now fraps should run. http://www.p30download.persiangig.com/crkz/Trial-Reset.zip
EDIT; hmmmm, im not sure anymore, I typed ammadilo on google, and it said that mcafee identified it as a virus but it was an error, nevermind, im using avg and it detected it....any thought?!
It seems McAfee reports False-Positives (Which means that it reports the file as being a virus but it isn't) on programs protected with Armadillo quite frequently.
I don't think that specific link\program contains a virus. If you want to be absolutely sure I could upload a newer version of that program which contains no virus. And yes, using that program should work but if formatting doesn't work on your PC then this probably doesn't work either. I think there's something else causing trouble, maybe you've installed some new kind of hardware which Fraps has compatibility issues with?
Has anyone found a method that works yet? I'm not going to be trying that link as I only just removed a virus from my computer caused trying to get recording software to work. If no one has away of fixing this can they recommend some good recording software that is free
I've tried ZD soft it had a massive affect on graphics been using growler guncam but its a trial it works well except it stops recording once the file is 800mb
Have you tried AVI file - I420 codec in the table at half-size to see what it look like, don't foget that game depends on fps while at high resolution, try lowering the res to 640x480 full size, it should your better, depending of your rig,though.
I've found a program that works well and doesn't use a lot of system resources when playing its called gun cam it ain't free but you can download a torrent with a patch that makes it registered as a full copy it works well for me and keeps games playable while recording if you want the torrent just go to "the pirate bay" and search it
A video of how to fix FRAPS, you have to do this every time you want to use FRAPS. It only takes around 10 seconds to do once you get the hang of it. Enjoy!
Here is what I did- 1. Downloaded Regmon. 2. Started Regmon, then fraps, and stopped regmon capture soon as the little timer icon disappeared. 3. I looked for fraps on the regmon window and double clicked on the first listing for HKLM\Software\Liscences 4. I deleted all the keys there. 5. Started fraps and success.
For those who still can't run it using that method, try combining it with the licenses fix.
Gonna rewrite this as detailed as possible, cuz it's easy to get frustrated and miss out on something. Like I did
Here's how I did it. 1. Launch Regmon
2. Exclude all major processes that shows up in the list (this is to keep it cleaner and make it easier to search for values). To exclude a process simply right click any value that is connected to that process and hit exclude process.
3. Run Fraps and wait for the timer to finish.
4. Freeze Regmon by focusing the Regmon window and pressing Ctrl+E.
5. Now make sure that the only visible process in the regmon list is Fraps. If not, repeat step 2 to exclude all processes EXCEPT Fraps.
6. Open search by doing "Edit -> Find" or CTRL+F. Search for CLSID. (If nothing is found make sure it searches through the entire list, by changing the up and down options at the search dialog)
7. If you examine the found entry, Its gonna look something like this..
HKCR\CLSID\{a bunch of numbers}
Or like this..
HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{a bunch of numbers}
Now the one we want is the first one.. HKCR\CLSID\{a bunch of numbers} So if your search ends up on the other one, just look through the closest values they should be very close to each other.
When you find it just highlight it. (Don't get confused by all the similar HKCR\CLSID\ values they are all the same and it doesn't matter which one you highlight.)
8. Press the small register icon at the top (near the menus). It's the small blue cube at the very right.
9. This will bring up the registry editor and find the value automatically.
10. Press delete on your keyboard to remove it. You can close the Registry editor now. Keep Regmon running.
11. Now download this fix, extract Licenses.reg and apply it to your registry. xxx.electronicfiles.xxx/files/1851/fix.rar replace the x with appropriate letter.
12. Run Fraps and it should work.
!!!!!!! After this Fraps will only run if regmon is running as well. so everytime you wanna launch fraps you have to run regmon first and wait for fraps to load, then you can close Regmon !!!!! NOTE: IF YOU DON'T RUN REGMON FIRST YOU WILL HAVE TO REDO ALL OF THIS.
Maybe it has something to do with the values that fraps adds upon startup and regmon protects the registry from being edited. If that's the case maybe a background process that blocks certain programs from editing the registry would be easier to use. I don't know any programs with that feature. If you do, try it out
I like to thank the people who found these solutions, they are not mine. So credits go out to you guys.
There is a simple way of solving the install problem with the full version of fraps. if you have installed the trial version of fraps the full version will then not work because of some registry entry’s from the trial there are lots of stupid ways to solve this that will in the end damage your computer the easiest way to solve the problem will be to restore your computer to a date previous to having the trial version of fraps. This worked for me and it has also worked for a number of other people. Hope this solves your problem 8)
