Sorry if such a thread exists already, the strength of ff7 glitches on pc has changed a lot recently and I did not find any information that is really up to date. I just wonder that we have no warp runs here atm. Is it that sda does not accept RTA of ff7, so no resets are allowed? Or is it because yg+ isnt considered a ng+ run like because it is cheating (which is my opinion on loading prerequisite, untimed savestates after the run has already started) .

Because you can still warp with saves that are created on the very same run and I dont see a reason why this would not be allowed. Also if warping is allowed, how about debug room? One may still rule it out because it compares to using joker commands or passwords on old games like Crash Bandicoot.

I wanna record a run and Id like to know what sda wants to see and what it does not.

Hi and welcome.

Yeah, a thread exists so be sure to check it out Wink
Yea I know this thread, people discussing runs they did and warping methods...It doesnt include a clear statement
about what rules there are for an sda submission. All those runs discussed there were obviously refused.
the current Final Fantasy (NES), Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest runs on SDA are technically "NG+" run and were verified as regular run.
Regarding FF7 any kind of warp should be allowed as long as you don't load any external save once the run is started. NG+ would probably be considered as a different category than NG (with warp) and warpless since the categories co-exist in the FF7 community.

PS: I'm not a SDA "green name" so what I said only reflect my personal opinion, you might want to ask one of them before submitting a run since in the past SDA rejected a run because of glitch abuse

Pretty much all community-accepted PC FF7 categories I'm familiar with would be fine for SDA submission - if there's a specific category you're interested in running, just let us know so we can make sure.
puwexil: this has s**t-aught to do with this thread... but is there actually a sprite like that in chrono trigger or has it been modified?? I demand to know!
yeah, that's an actual sprite from the game.  It's the first frame of several of the Center Bit's attacks when targeting the character on the left side of the screen.

Awesome! In that case I'll start recording my Any%. I already did a decent time on twitch, now Ill record o e  in proper quality! Wink

Actually there is, I planned to run Any% when I created this topic but now I am much more interested in the category 'WEAPONs“ where Ultima, Ruby and Emerald are defeated as optional goals. It exists as a competituve category on the leaderboards with ng+ so should be ok. I beat the WR by 4 mins without using ng+ saves with a new route and I would like to run that because it is pretty cool.

Of course if SDA is only interested in Any% or 100% Im gonna leave WEAPON alone.

Defeat All WEAPONs is a bit too arbitrary to fit into SDA.  The PC FF7 categories I was thinking of when I said that were Any%, with or without wrong warps, with or without NG+ saves, and with or without Slots (if relevant).
Thats just what I assumed, thx.

No problem - also, if you haven't already I'd highly recommend posting a sample recording to our tech support forum at https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/board/tech_support.html, to make sure everything's good with your recording setup before you start serious attempts for submission.
I will do so. How about debug room actually. When running for WR it is allowed but for SDA I would actually like to avoid it because it isnt really part of the game. If I do any% RTA will debug room be expected as it is most optimized or can I run warps without goin there? I think for SDA it would be better not to use it.
Professional Second Banana
Use of the debug room would be considered a 'major skips' category, similar to the 64-door glitch in FF4 or the sketch glitch in FF6 (for NG at least, NG+ probably not because it doesn't make as much of a difference, and we want to avoid category bloat as much as possible).
What I actually meant was that I can beat the game in a similiar time from a New Game without using the debug room. There are still major skips from warping but the debug room only saves like 20 minutes or so. I was more about the commands in there like getting 99 items with a button press from a leftover from development time which shouldnt even be there is kinda cheesy. I would like to use a different path but I want to know if this would be rejected for missing optimization since the debug room was usually legitimated in the past. Since SDA isnt a WR site and more about a beautiful run I would like to avoid the debug room. Also does not need an extra category, would be simply Any% with major skips.

The problem with such thinking is that deliberately not using known tricks means any verifier would have a good reason to reject your run.
Professional Second Banana
Personally, if I verified this run I would not reject it for not using debug room (assuming it's a pretty solid run for the route it uses), though if someone else wanted to submit a faster run that did use debug room, it'd be within their right.
