Hello all! This is my first time on these forums, but I've been a watcher of speed runs for quite some time. A while back (maybe 3 or 4 years ago) I planned out a run for this game and never went through with recording it. Obviously, there's no community for this game whatsoever and no attempts at runs as far as I'm aware, but I figure since most of David Cage's other games have been run there's hopefully at least some interest in seeing Fahrenheit. I've gone through the game a few more times and tweaked some of my strategies and got the game to be sub 3 hrs 30 minutes consistently (my best time before the tweaks was just under 4 hours). I'm using the "remastered" 2015 version, which has faster loading times than the console counterparts and is the original uncut European version.
I plan on submitting the run in the near future, just thought I'd introduce myself and see if anyone has any input. Grin
Thread title:
Hey Gelato, welcome to the forums.

It seems there was actually a run of Fahrenheit submitted almost 10 years ago, but in the end it was rejected because of mistakes and video quality (see this thread: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/fahrenheit51.html).
That run was about 4 hours long.

And not long ago, December 2015, someone mentioned interest, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen (see here: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/fahrenheit_indigo_prophecy.html).

Like I said in that thread, I am interested in seeing a Fahrenheit run. And I encourage you to attempt it even if there is nobody else and no community for that game, of course as long as you still enjoy running it.

Best regards

Right on. I was aware of the first link you posted, but not the second. Unless I run into some kind of huge recording problem I will definitely be submitting the run within the next month. I feel like this is a game everyone kind of forgot about, which kinda made it more interesting planning it out. It wannakinda neat having to figure everything out on my own, in terms of optimization, because there is no community or other runs to go off of.
i'm interested to see how this run shapes up assuming you're sticking with it. i once thought about routing this game, but it seems awful for speed. i remember the game would often force you to take an intentional path and be very touchy about doing anything else (like where to climb the fence in the military base). if you managed to find any sequence breaks or some sort of tech, i might be interested again.
Honestly, there aren't really any technical tricks that break the game (as far as I'm aware), which is a bummer. Routing the game more of less consists of finding out the bare minimum you're required to do while still retaining enough mental health to survive. At no point do I do any non-essential action just to gain mental health. You can't entirely skip any chapter in the game, but many of them can be shortened quite a bit once you understand exactly what you need to do. For a game that is supposed to deal with making choices that effect things later in the game, almost nothing you do has any actual consequences, aside from some scenes where you can hide evidence from tyler and carla, and the last 3 or so chapters of the game which determine your ending. The real technical part of running it comes with optimizing the speech in order to pick the fastest options, as well as memorizing which direction to push for every single thing you need to do in the game so it takes the shortest amount of time possible.
Don't get me wrong, this is absolutely a horrible game to speed run in many ways, but mostly because it's supposed to be an "interactive drama" and has a set story line with many long, unavoidable sequences. Like, literally, a few chapters are just cut-scenes where you play a simon says mini game until it's over.
But I did it anyway, and I had a lot of fun so, eh, whatever. Isn't that what it's all about?
Even tho it's a pain to speedrun, we also have a Heavy Rain speedrun on this site. That's why a Fahrenheit speedrun doesn't seem that far off to me.

yea don't get me wrong, i've done speedruns of contradiction: spot the liar which is a point and click adventure, not speedy at all. i think a lot of people have a love-hate relationship with this game with the convoluted story and simon says events, but it's a fun video game and i'm glad someone had fun routing/running it

like i said, i'd love to watch the speedrun just to see how it goes. unfortunate that there are no sequence breaks or some sort of movement tech or something other than being a fast let's play, but sometimes that's just how it is. if you record a run please link it here (:
Just submitted a 3:26:24 run for verification! Took me long enough, I hope all goes well.
Dead Rising 3 Speed Runner
I would love to see a Fahrenheit speed run. Sure I'd like to see if there is any sequences breaks that are in the run but if not would be great to watch.
I have the run up on youtube for the time being. Here's the link if you wanna take a look -
I'm hoping I can get it up on sda soon, I feel like it's a game that definitely is easier to understand with commentary.
thanks for posting, i'll watch and see if i can catch any improvements
That somehow made even less sense than when I played the game.

Valenti: "We gotta catch this guy!" [5 minutes later] "I love you."
