I've been working on this game for about two weeks now. I haven't found any indications of someone else speedrunning it, so I thought this was a good moment to see if anyone at least knows the game. At the moment, I'm playing on "difficult" difficulty and use the warp in the first mission. Status so far:
* The route for each mission is more or less mapped out and I think I have a pretty good knowledge of what the end triggers are for each mission.
* Which weapons to collect and where to use them is in place. It wouldn't surprise me if I'll make a few changes as I progress, but it's already fitting quite nicely. Smart bombs and thunderbolts save lots of time in the later missions, so it's worth to go quite a bit out of the way to get them.
* While the game mechanics give me reason to believe there could be exploits such as out of bounds, I haven't found anything so far. However, I've found some missions to be completely broken by using thunderbolts. The thunderbolt is so powerful that it deals massive damage through walls (including energy barriers), allowing for some triggers to be destroyed far earlier than they're supposed to.
* I've completed my first playthrough (on my first attempt) with the route I have. It ended on ~49 min (including load times, which should account for ~1 minute). The playthrough was so embarrassingly bad that I'm not going to upload it anywhere. I reckon ~15 min should be taken off that time. I'll upload a video when I have something representative though.

Yep, that's where I'm at. If anyone has played this game, don't hesitate to let me know. If not, I'll just post about my progress here as I go along.
Thread title:
Since my last post, I have completed the game a couple of more times and the time has obviously dropped a lot. Earlier today I got a completion of 0:29:27 (with loads). It's far from perfect, but at least a demonstration of the route. The run is uploaded on www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zmPiJIqmek and here is a breakdown of some of the major events:

2-1 - I didn't get a laser cannon drop (random), which cost me a few seconds in 2-2 - 2-4 (higher ammo count gives a higher firing rate).

2-9 (boss) - I got the best result from the smart bomb and took out all required enemies except one. I don't know how to do this consistently, so for now I'll call it good RNG.

4-1 - Poorly played around the generators and lost a few seconds.

4-2 - Got too far down the hill and couldn't hit the targets with the first fire flash. A few seconds lost.

4-5 - A little over 20 seconds lost due to a death (my fault, avoidable).

5-1 - Probably lost 10 seconds due to not taking out the choppers properly at the start (problem spot, but bad execution).

5-5 (first tank mission) - Lost something like 3-4 seconds by very bad execution.

5-9 (last mission before the UFO boss) - Managed to take out the trigger with one thunderbolt. This is required with the weapon route I have, but pretty inconsistent. I roughly aim for the center of the energy barrier and hope for the best.

6-5 (city) - Lost around 15 seconds by having trouble collecting the smartbomb (it's physically underground and the positioning for collecting it above ground is a bit tricky) and by not taking out the missile robot properly (a recurring problem due to the missiles either going too low or maybe connecting with the robot's missiles).

6-8 (last boss) - Lost around 20 seconds because the second thunderbolt didn't connect with the turrets. I think I was flying too low and that the mistake was preventable.

So overall I have well over a minute of mistakes. If I don't find anything major, that means I'm currently looking for a time a little over 28 minutes (with load times).

I've also quickly looked into the extreme difficulty. It doesn't look very speedrun friendly. There are more enemies and they are more aggressive. Cruising through like on difficult doesn't look feasible. It's possible that a segmented run could be made in a somewhat speedy fashion though.
