Update: 100% WR is currently 39:20 and any% is 28:33, both held by me at the time of me typing this. You can see some tutorial videos of the 100% route here, which I will update as more are completed.

I'm working on a run of Eternal Daughter, a freeware metroidvania game known for its difficulty. If you are familiar with it, any help in the planning and execution would be appreciated. This run is 100% item collection and game completion. Three bosses are skipped: the crab, Gar II, and the Brownies. I have a route that might be improvable:

Wall Jump
Double Jump
Ice Caves
Dungaga (Hume)
Front Slide
King Grodol boss
Tower
Water Breathing
Elanduru (flight)
Double Mana
Finish Dungaga Area
Ice Caves Underwater Heart Container
Turtle Heart Container
Flame spell
Half Damage
Baphomet

That is not the route in full detail, simply my destinations. Some items are picked up via the usual methods, some are picked up through glitches. If you would like to familiarize yourself with what a complete run looks like, I recommend looking at tjp7154's Fun Run of the game on youtube, which is a segmented run. He is also helping me with this run. I have practice runs (none fully complete, but one up until the final boss) available on my stream.

Anyway, feel free to offer whatever advice you can, thanks. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

Here is a run time of 57:56. The kill on baphomet is a glitch we've never seen before. Would be awesome if someone could figure it out.

I found a method to attack while flying. While flying, press jump, then attack, then up very quickly. You will be released from flight, do an attack, then picked up again by Elendaru. You can then repeat. This makes the Baphomet phase two fight very fast, and depending on your route, could make make many of the other fights faster as well.

Also, there seems to be a very, very rare or hard glitch during the baphomet phase 2 fight which causes baphomet to randomly die (his face just falls off). We have no idea what causes it.

Excellent.  I'm glad you started the thread.  I haven't seen you streaming lately, so I hope planning and practicing is going well.

I do want to bring to light a big issue everyone's had with Eternal Daughter, and that's "the" annoying (and fairly prevalent) bug that causes the game to loop sound effects and animations over, crippling the game.  You then need to quit and restart the game.  As far as I know and I've researched, there isn't a solution to this, and the game's so old and uses such an old version of Multimedia Fusion that the authors didn't bother trying to fix it.  This alone makes an RTA or segmented run pretty much the only ways this game can feasibly be run.

I'm sure this route will probably be tweaked in the future, but you should just stick to the route you have and get a feel for it, practicing all the tricks (especially the back and front slide dashes).

If anyone's curious, I can describe some of the glitches and tricks and time savers...
I've been having computer issues so it's been in the shop a lot the past couple weeks. I did end up switching to a segmented run, got the first segment done at 1:10, I think perfect might be 1:07 or 1:08. Second segment can be improved with luck manipulation and better slides, it's 1:23 at the moment I believe. Third segment is about 3:20 at the moment and that's decent, which is all the way through exiting the mines.

Now that I have my computer back, I'll try to stream my runs. I'm having an issue with my video capture program, though, as it isn't capturing the sound anymore.
Here is a run time of 1:05:48. A lot of mistakes post-tower, sub-hour is my current goal.

First any% run!

I've been practicing a lot these past couple of weeks while I've been away from my apartment and main game streaming setup.  I've been working with Azurinel since about April with this.  We've come up with a lot of good strategies now.  Low% might even be a feasible thing (not that I want to do it...)

About 5 minutes can be saved because of some deaths (a really painful death late-game that cost about 3 minutes) and ammo issues and other workarounds to avoid taking death-dealing damage.

I had some GREAT battles, including the Riders of Baphomet (Tower) -- First and Third battles were awesome.  Efendu (last boss before Baphomet) killed me because of stupidity, but the retry went pretty well.

In the days ahead, I'll be working with this (alongside Lost Levels)...
I've updated the original post, linking to some tutorial videos I have put together with a little help from tjp7154.
