Eternal Daughter is a Metroidvania freeware game released in 2002, so it's quite old by todays standards, and this brings certain problems with it. On Windows 7, I can not force the game to be in windowed mode. Originally there was a "fix" where you would start the program with the additional parameter of -NOF - this probably worked on older windows versions, it doesn't now.

When the -NOF is activated, the game will go into fullscreen, keep the current monitor resolution and put the gamescreen in the original scale into it (which is very small..) with a black border around.

When no -NOF is active, the game will change the screens resolution of the monitor to (I think) 640x480 and still only cover about a 4th of the screen. Also next to the game you can still see the desktop which is irritating.

Neither option is particularly good for playing/streaming, so I was wondering whether there is a workaround for this, aside from using a virtual machine.

You can download the game here:

I am not sure if games ran using DXWnd would be accepted since it's a 3rd party program, but it can window lots of different full-screen games and do it pretty good.
The Dork Knight himself.
Yagamoth: check your video driver software and see if you can set it to scale the image to fit your monitor. If it's disabled you'll get the smaller window in the center of the screen since LCD's only run at 1 resolution.

I know this is an old thread, but a Google search for a solution to this problem brought me here, and I've found a little work around in Win7:

Run the game with the -NOF option,  then use the Magnifier accessibility feature to scale the game area up to 175% or 200%. You can go into the Magnifier's settings and set it to magnify in increments of 25% (default is 100%). Press Esc to pause the game and bring up the mouse pointer so it's easier to set the positioning of the magnifier on the screen so the game is centered.

Can't believe I didn't think of this before now, haha.
