Time for Plan C
Further improvement.  This one actually felt really bad while I was playing it.  My luck with grenade clips was ATROCIOUS.  The run felt so slow overall that I was very surprised it was as fast as it was.  I can definitely get at least another 30 seconds from grenade clips ALONE not to mention other little failures.  Either way, this is much faster than the previous one despite not feeling as good to me.  Maybe it will look better to you guys. haha.

This run also maps mousewheel down to multiple right clicks, so duping is consistent.

The total time saved by doing this script is 0-5 seconds, it really just removes the luck of my mousewheel being good or bad.

New Time: 38:12.91

http://www.twitch.tv/chutsc2/c/3622337

Edit: Since apparently this removes all legitimacy of this run, I'll be beating this time thoroughly immediately with no "scripts" since it honestly didn't do anything but remove some headache.
Time for Plan C
This run brought to you by irritation over scripting.

New Time: 37:29.88

No scripts at all.

Wow! How much faster do you think you can go?
Time for Plan C
I estimate there's about 20 seconds of loss due to failed grenade clips.

Also, there is 20 seconds of loss in segment times compared to my "best times" for each segment.  And those times are certainly not perfect either, so I'd more likely estimate 30 seconds of play error.

So, with no route changes and 100% perfect grenade clips, this run could probably gain about 50 seconds.

In terms of route improvement, I could clip through the glass at the flight control room for a gain of 12 seconds with a first try clip.  The possible addition of the area 51 clip too, I'm not sure how much time that saves.  But there's at least 12 seconds I could gain from the HK Helibase clip.

I know we talked about it on IRC, but I wanted to write it on here too.

New PB 43:37 (). Also I managed to clip through the wall at the Ship (in the corner through the wall left of the door to the Lower Decks), it's not even that hard of a clip, but you'll have to clip back as well. For RTA the risk is too big, since it's so little time gain, but for a segmented run it's definitely doable.

I found a way to skip the Mole Tunnel elevator: http://www.twitch.tv/labbekak/c/4236990. It doesn't save much time, but there might be faster setups. It's definitely usable for a segmented run.

Also I had a new PB 41:18:

I recorded a very rough segmented run to get all tricks and glitches in one vid and to show what a current segmented run might look like. It is very sloppy and the audio isn't synced in the second half, but might still be interesting to watch. It's about 37:07 (so only 23s faster than the SS WR) and about 65 segments. A real segmented run would have way better execution and would be sub 35 minutes I think.

EDIT: Well it seems I forgot three clips, so I will be redoing this sometime soon.

EDIT2: Found a way to clip through the Area 51 door that is normally lockpicked: http://www.twitch.tv/labbekak/c/4276897

EDIT3: Possible Area 51 route:
Some cool stuff there. But how exactly do these save hotkeys work that they allow you to save while dead?
Deus Ex!
I don't know how or why they work. It's a 1-to-1 mapping in User.ini to SAVEGAME 1, apparently that save doesn't have any conditions and will save through infolinks and death.
Hmmm. Editing config files is kind of a gray area (it depends on what you use it for). And it's a single function, but one you don't normally have access to. (You could just as easily bind "open 15_Area51_Final".) You'd better get a ruling from an admin if you're planning to submit a run using it.
Since I saw you managed to clip into the door at area 51 by standing on a LAM, I tried again at the DuClare crypt and managed to get it. I'm not sure how reliably it could be done, but it's good news for segmented at least.

Yeah I'm not sure about that as well, we (the runners at the SRL irc #deusex) decided to accept using it for RTA runs because it's a 1-to-1 mapping to a save, but it's still a gray area yeah. You do gain a lot of time with it though. I'm currently working on a rough segmented which will include all the tricks and clips that I know (and it will be less sloppy than the one I posted earlier), it should be about 35 minutes. Where would I ask for a ruling, somewhere here on the forums?

Yup I figured that boxless Duclare clip out two days ago too, It will be in the new rough segmented I'm making. Also I will clip through the Oceanlab doors that require keys and both the Catacombs doors.

Whatever happened to your segmented?
Yeah, start a private thread with Flip or someone and link them to this thread.

I haven't been working on it lately. Things have been changing so fast and I've been playing other games, but if we agree on which new stuff is legal and useful, I could get back to planning.

Okay this new rough segmented I'm making will be finished in about a week, it *should* be the fastest route (using the User.ini saves atleast) and has LAM duping, rocket usage and clips planned out. So that should be interesting for you to see. I'll send a message to Flip then.

When you start routing or planning, join us at the irc at irc.speedrunslive.com (or irc2.speedrunslive.com) at channel #deusex, also leaderboards can be found at http://www.tinyurl.com/deusexlb.
Flip doesn't administrate SDA anymore. UraniumAnchor does that stuff now.

Thanks, I will just post a thread in "SDA Discussion" and then I'm sure UA will see it.

Alright the verdict is no User.ini editing is allowed, except for things like resolution etc. So all those tricks cannot be used.

Now to clone Aug upgrades at Hell's Kitchen, to keep your items in the prison without dropping them and to skip all the infolinks at the Missile Silo, you need the glitchy save, but you can no longer hold it in the User.ini save, so you'll have to make a hard save containing it.

The Mole Tunnel, Oceanlab and Area 51 elevator skips cannot be done now, I estimate those save about 15s combined.

For the Dead Man Walking glitch in Area 51 (to skip getting a camo), you can still do it quite easily. Right after talking to Jock at the Missile Silo kill yourself with a rocket or LAM and you'll spawn at Area 51 with negative torso hp, then just do the clip, fall down and you can do the next area with Dead Man Walking, somewhat like this: http://www.twitch.tv/labbekak/c/3299917 (only then with the clip).

That's all the spots where the User.ini save was used.

I wouldn't say I "do" that stuff now, but Flip is definitely the wrong person to ask since he's mostly retired. I'm just around a lot, I guess. Tongue

Alright I completed my new rough segmented run with a time of 34:12, it's on youtube at and also on mega at https://mega.co.nz/#!wl8wjR7Y!ILHhmSvv7ujO2a_hYtU7JsVwLSLPgNPq9pGFq7Bus-w.

This run does use the User.ini saves as described in my previous post, but the rest of the route should still be good to use.

Thats too bad Sad

I found an exploit a month or two ago using the user.ini save. You could level up all your skills to master before the game even began.

Also this kinda ruins my plans for the training map.
Deus Ex!
Do tell that exploit. Would a training map run be accepted anyway on SDA, because if not then you might as well use the User.ini saves.

Alright here ya go: at the character creation screen downgrade pistols so you have 6575 skill points. Hit start game, quickly followed by an ini.save before the intro starts. After the intro starts, hit escape and immediately load the save. When the introduction starts this time, there will be no conversation. Save the game again using the ini save, and load the save.

When you load the save again, you will be able to play the introduction. Open up your skills tab and dump all the points you can. Save the game again using the ini save when you are done, wait like a half second and load it again. When you load the game, you will have your leveled skills, but you will have another 6575 skill points. So you can just keep saving and loading the game during the intro until  you master everything.

So if you do it right, you can master all your skills before you show up on the docks. There are a few things that can go wrong when you attempt this, such as getting gibbed at certain points, or if you save and load the game too fast the conversation will start and you will not be able to get the free skill points.

Deus Ex!
Aah okay that's cool, though probably not worth it in a speedrun since it costs too much time to setup, I'm guessing?
-80830/100 Health
Probably... since it is during the intro though I don't know if it would count towards the time of the run.
