I will tonight since I had a short week at school and shouldn't have much homework.  Osey showed me some stuff during one of his practice runs but I don't remember any of it.
congrats on your impossible run there sahailaway! seeing that kinda time on impossible gives me hope for my single segment easy run. i've yet to get that perfect run in but i think that with playing on console and with the right kinda luck that you need for single segment, i think i can get sub 2:45.

Thanks Osey, now i can wait for the verification :D, i hope no reject.
Hey all! I just got this in the EA humble bundle, and was thinking of speedrunning it. I first got this on 360, and loved it. I have played through it tons of times. I would like to run it on impossible because that seems like a real challenge. I don't know how far I'll get, as this is my first speedrunning project, but I want to try. However, I wanted to ask anybody who has this on PC: Have you been able to fix the bad sensitivity issues? I have been playing it on steam and mouse sensitivity randomly changes when I am moving, so bad it is almost unplayable. So, I switched to 360 controller, and it works well, but I can't but help think it would be so much better if the mouse controls worked better.
the mouse issues cant really be fixed, turning off vsync can work, but you have to crank up the sensitivity of the mouse hard if you do that

Yeah.
At some point I switched to my PS3 controller to play this on PC. Feels much more comfortable now and precise aim works for me too.
Actually, I researched and tried an often suggested method. It's detailed here:

http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dead_Space

in the "Issues fixed" section, in the "Turn off in-game v-sync and force 60Hz v-sync" box. I don't have an NVIDIA, so I downloaded RivaTuner, and it doesn't seem to have any negative effects, but I only run it when I'm playing Dead Space.

Also, I find the in-game max sensitivity to be too low, so I manually edited the settings file to make it a little higher. (I am using 1.75 when the in-game UI limits it to 1.00)

I just wonder if either of these count as "game modifications" and if a run with these fixes would get rejected on that basis.
i've been running this game for a long time and i really hate doing this run on impossible. it requires way to much resource gathering for my liking. at least with a normal run you can pray for good loot drops.
well, i have a impossible run and as u said is a real challenge and a "real pain"...
so, osey is running on easy mode, I have taken impossible, u should try normal or hard mode
my current time is 2:41:32, theoretically should be less time in any other difficult.
Good news, I Improved the current run by almost 20 minutes, I thought 2:41:32  was unsurpassable but the final time is 2:22:31 Impossible-Mode,
Dead Space 3 Is done Too in hardcore,
Now only DS2 is Left! i'll submit the trylogy soon Cheesy

I don't know if that will be an accepted category or not. I know for sure that when I do runs I do one gun (which is probably a really bad idea considering that I'm really bad at it right now but I can definitely improve my 5:05) because I feel that it allows me to buy more health.

Also, while I was chapter grinding a while back, I noticed the strage physics with Isaac's punch. Is there any way that OoB could be found with that or has someone already tried it?
I don't have the game at the moment but when I was renting it I noticed a lot of strange stuff. His punch and kick always push you back from walls/obstacles.

There's an OOB in one of the outer space parts but is totally useless. I think it's the first one where you only have to jump off some walls in a destroyed section. You can get outside of it but I don't think you can get back in and there's no shortcut there even if you could. You can jump off into space and will vanish but won't die. The screen just goes black and you can hear Isaac breathing.

There's a few points where I put a little time into trying to skip. One was where you need to blow away that barrier. Sorry I forget the names of the areas.

OK thanks. I was just making sure before i went out of my way to try and find something. I know it's been quite some time since I've been on SDA, but my goal for this is to sub at least 4:45 in my normal run, start ng+ normal, and possibly take it to a GDQ if it gets consistant enough. I know from the randomized drops and stuff that it can be easily mercy-killed due to bad luck, but it still seems like it would be fun.

By that im not just referring to RNG either. I had my 360 crash on me when I was probably about 30 minutes ahead of my WR.
Definitey go out of your way. I will be once I get this game back, probably this week or early next week.

Try walking/running up things in the background. The space OoB requires nothing more than walking into a corner and you drop out of the boundary. I've walking up in tables and some walls before but never got anywhere. But the fact that even something small like this is possible means there could be something huge.
Ill try to look for any skips in the game using what ive learned from dead space 3 glitching as a basis, ive got to go through the game and get saves in each chapter though

Do either of you guys have skype so we could relay info a lot easier than me checking the forum every morning? I have my phone on me just about 24/7 so skype would be easier, if not, I understand. I might start back with some chpater grinds over the next week because I have a week off of school, and hopefully I can get a run or two in without my 360 crashing on me again.

Ok. So I've been reading up on the early strats of this game, and they had some really good ideas with it. Stuff like a line gun for quick knockdowns and stuff like that. The are a few things that I've noticed personally from running the game though. Most every wall enemy in the game except for about 2 or 3 of them have an explosive canister near them, and if you can time it perfectly to when the tentacles come out, you can one shot them every time. After you reach the non-canister areas, it will have to be probably a line gun secondary or something like that. Just a few little time savers that ive noticed.
I have skype but don't have the game yet and need to play through again to remember all the exact locations where I could walk up something. I played through the game only once and looking for skips and didn't get very far. I don't have any info on starts like fighting or which weapon to use, I'll be looking for skips/glitches only.

OK. Sounds good.
hey all its been awhile sense i last came on here and i got some good news to share. For the longest time i've been trying to figure out how to trigger a skip in the final chapter. The first sign of it happening is that Brute after turning on the vents will not spawn. several enemys afterwards fail to spawn as well, but more interesting is that the "big reveal" cut scene won't happen! the doors leading to the final boss will be open but the boss won't spawn. All you need to do is kill yourself with the available gas cans and you will reload the checkpoint in front of the boss area. To do this you must pull the switch at the ventilation shaft at a certain spot that the game thinks you can't possibly do it from. the fans will trigger but the brute will not. i'll have a video that shows how i did up shortly.
